We got to attend a birthday party here and it was hosted by Adam, Luke and Elizabeth and they were all so great with the kids. The party had about 35-40 kids (which seemed like a lot), but the size of this facility easily accommodated everyone. The party was for a 10 yr old and my son is a toddler so he wasn't totally interested in the karate class portion, but all the other kids were having a blast. They had a good sized room for eating so all the kids filed in there for the pizza that was delivered. There was also plenty of space for a little backdrop for photos, gift table, dessert table and some additional food. After the cake they set up the dojo space for an obstacle course and unfortunately we had to leave early, BUT Luke said we could take it for a quick spin before leaving since my son was so small. Adam was having to keep older out of the space until after the cake, but he was on the same page letting my toddler run through it twice. We did have to visit the restroom a couple of times and it seemed well-kept. There was also another smaller room that might have been hosting a small class for karate, but I don't think it was part of our party. All in all it was a large, clean facility and I'd be happy to bring my child back when he can follow along better as an older student! Arjun started his karate journey since he was 4 years old. We recently celebrated his 7th birthday at the facility where kids got to do the drills and obstacle course. We got much needed help from volunteers with the set up & cleaning was all handled by them. Originally I signed up both of my boys bc of a promotion I saw on Instagram. I honestly thought it was just going to be something fun for them to do for a free couple of classes and didn't think much of it. That instantly changed when we arrived and met the instructors and staff. We were warmly greeted and they made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. After just one 30min class, I knew I wanted my boys to join this karate family. The instructors have a way of commanding attention and respect in such a subtle, gentle, but firm way. My 2 rowdy boys have learned so much self-control, discipline, and technique just within the 4 months that they have been there. I love how they make sure every kid is tended to in each class and they accommodate that by having plenty of instructors per class. Our son has been attending this dojo for a little over a year now. It all started with a free trial, then he liked it so they let us try out a free class. It is amazing that with so many different kids and the flexibility of which days you can go they still remember every kids name! I love that they get the parents involved at the belt promotion and we get to present our child with their new belt! Its such a proud moment to see the look on their face when it is handed to them! We've been here for a few months now and I simply cannot get over how amazing this place is. We have our two kids (4 & 8) here twice a week now and we couldn't be happier - especially since our younger has some sensory sensitivities and our older is neurodiverse and we weren't sure how it would go for them. I was worried about noise sensitivities w my younger bc it is loud, but there are kids here who wear headphones as needed and he knows he can as well though he chooses not to. I'm here w my 4 year old rn as I'm writing this and he's practicing blocks w his advanced white belt cohort. Sensei Adam is teaching the kids about "discipline", asking if they know what it means and now giving examples the 4-5 year olds can understand. I've heard all the various senseis instruct the kids about various words and their meanings as it relates to karate practice. Every single one of the kids in the class rn is engaged in what they're learning and practicing. It's wonderful to see how motivated they all are to follow their Sensie's instructions as he and his assistants (also wonderful) go through a range of exercises and karate moves designed to keep the kids all having fun while they're learning not just karate moves like kicks, punches, blocks, sticks and nunchucks, but also real life skills and lessons like listening to mom/dad/teachers etc, staying away from fighting, sticking close to mom and/or dad while out and about, using a loud voice if they're feeling nervous about someone, and other stuff. We also have our older in the after school program twice a week. Mrs Block and the rest of the team are amazing. They pick my kid up from school, bring him back to the karate center and make sure he does his homework, giving him help if he needs it. The kids are also only allowed electronics if the electronics are actually homework related. Otherwise there are toys, games like chess, a crafts area, and an area for basketball in the other room next door. The karate classes are also included in the rate for after school care on the days he goes. Lastly, as if all the above wasn't enough, they're also extremely flexible. We had a few weeks of constant schedule changes due to figuring out what was going to work for our family and w the transition from summer back to school and they could not have been more easy to work with. They adjusted our rates and classes and days as needed, and without any fuss or even a hint of issue or bother. Really, I mean it when I say we have not experienced a single negative issue here. Any time I've had any sort of concern they've been attentive and helpful. There has never been a hint of any sort of attitude or dismissiveness from literally anyone who works here. Highly highly recommend them for any and all kids, and for adults as well. If I didn't have wrist and foot injuries I'd be taking lessons from them myself. read more

This has been such a great experience! I had an ad pop up on Instagram for a free class that came with a uniform. I have been wanting to find an activity for my 3.5 year old and I am so glad I took the free offer! It is my daughters first ever extra curricular and we are a homeschool family so she's not really ever experienced a "class" setting. These instructors were so patient with her! She was so excited to get on her uniform and such but when the class started she totally freaked out lol. The instructors moved my hubby and I close to her and had us just observe and then invited us back today to try again for free. SO KIND! So, we went back today and my daughter was still tough but joined in the class and is now telling me she wants to go back some more. Needless to say we will be returning next week to continue her karate journey and my mommy heart is just so full! My 11 yo daughter is still enjoying herself after 2 years. For Yelp, I tried to film a short video of the obstacle course American Martial Arts Academy organized for class fun (hopefully, it shows up in this posting). Again, this place is not for people who want their kids to "kick ass", but it's a great place to get kids physically active while enjoying themselves. All the staff seem to really love teaching the children. In fact, I have seen some young kids literally hang on to the coaches because they don't want to be dragged out the karate studio. read more

My son loves his instuctors. They are the best. This is a great place to get your child involved in the martial arts and leadership skills. I see instructors as great examples and many of the older students that assist are well spoken and respectful. I see my son growing in coordination and abilities here. The cost is high, however when I have asked other parents of other studios it seems comparable. You get what you pay for. The Black Belt Club seems like a lot at first, but it is years worth of lessons being paid for at once. Over the years my son has grown in confidence and strength. Although my family has since stopped attending classes at this studio, we enjoyed every moment with the wonderful community that was created due to the engaging classes. This place is for all ages, some starting out at the ages of only two years, while others are as old as 90! I can assure you that you will make many friends through the AMAA system. I have made many life-long friends from just attending 1 class a week! All of the instructors are great with all ages, and are really down to earth people you can bond with outside of karate.
