We took our cocker to see Dr. Hersh. He has had an ear infection for awhile. It took two visits, once before the covid crisis and once during. Finally he is doing better. The ear is almost all cleared up and our friend is running around happy again. We waited in the car and the employee came out to pick up our pet. Stay away from all the drs here dr B And dr M. They act like they are trying to help but they are clueless and only after the money. They add see if like chiro and Accupuncture which doesn't help. I have had animals my whole life so I have spent a lot of time at different vet places and I can say with certainty that Holistic Pet Care is the best. I have both cats and dogs who go for regular visits. The vets are so friendly towards the people and the animals. As vets go, it seems my pets like it there. One time they tried to do a chiropractic treatment on my cat but she did not enjoy it, but other than that they put pets at ease. My cat has received an operation there for an anal impaction and my dogs have had large scale tooth removals and we were satisfied with the results. Took my dog here a few times and was prescribed different "natural" supplements etc to tame her allergies each time. I understand allergies are not easy to cure or tame but going through multiple items that did absolutely nothing to even lessen the itching and paying top dollar doesn't seem like the logical way of handling it. Also, while in the waiting room there was several dogs getting these supplements and some of them were the same pills I got for totally different issues. One was a ear related issue; why have the same items being sold to everyone? The whole front is just like a storefront and I assume there is a tremendous markup on everything. I understand it is a business and they have to make money but seems excessive and careless. While speaking to the doctor we talked about vaccines and at spaying/neutering and what ages to do it. He gave me an age and when I asked why that specifically he said oh this lady (don't remember the name) wrote a book about it and she knows. That is not a good enough reason to recommend something. Also I brought up laser spaying and he had no idea what that was. I think as a vet someone should at least know what this type of surgery this is. If you question their recommendations you get a cold response almost as if you now an enemy. Also, based on the responses to every negative review with a certain level of unprofessional-ism and arguing makes it clear this is not the place for me. read more

My three year old male cat needed perineal urethrostomy surgery. after taking my cat to two other local vets and not getting any resolve, I found Holistic Pet Care. my cat had been in and out of vets offices for approximately 2 1/2 months and was getting worse and I was getting scared and frustrated. at my first appointment Dr Buchoff examined my cat and advised he needed the surgery that day. I have 2 rescue cats that need extra care. One had suffered a lot as a kitten. Both are thriving because of the staff at HPC. This place is very good. They offer holistic alternatives before ever going the drug route and my four dogs have never been healthier. They go here for Accupuncture and my one dog went from very lethargic and not wanting to play as much (senior pet) to back to bouncing around and having his old energy back. They are not pushy and offer scheduled treatments or recommended tests at reasonable rates and are offer great preventive care. I really recommend this place over other vets because they seem to have a good understanding of (in my case dogs) animal health and proper Hollistic care. The front desk is also a huge help, and are friendly and very much willing to accommodate and they are very organized. My old vet this was not the case and appointments never seemed to run on time. We love our Vets and Helpers at Holistic Pet Care! Having raised 6 dogs with traditional, then "semi-holistic" Vets, we've learned from each one, and hopefully, our 7th dog, Apache, will benefit the most from our experience. Apache is our first dog to have a raw diet, chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis, and the least restrictive, least harmful ways of vaccinating and utilizing only holistic, natural remedies (for flea & tick prevention, heartworm, etc) while keeping him protected. I've been a fan of essential oils and organic products for many years, and we're so happy to have a Vet who's in aggrement with these holistic, natural and organic ways of caring for our pet, including using floor care and health care products without harmful chemicals that cause health issues, and listens and agrees with our methods of holistic care. Apache is healthy, happy, member of our family. Still a puppy at 13 months old, we finally realized the importance of not neutering a dog until he's full grown (18 months for our large goldendoodle). Apache's brother was neutered at the normal young age of 3 months, and his personality and demeanor is polar opposite our energetic puppy. This has been my worst experience with any health care provider. Start out with an x-ray. "it looks like it might be something. Pay $150 extra to send to somebody else to verify that there is something." They agree that there is "something" there. Then they need to do an ultrasound to see what that "something" is. Then Dr. Buchoff says we need a "biopsy" to find out what it really is. Then Dr. Gersten calls just as they close to give me details. So I call back 5 minutes later, and everyone is gone. Meanwhile, my cat is dying as they take their time. So the result of the biopsy is that they need a biopsy to determine if he has cancer! "Dr. Buchoff wrote down biopsy, but it's not a biopsy", Dr. Gersten says. My cat's health drastically took a downturn after what was a cytology test. Are they paying attention? I don't think so. Very casual approach by the doctors. Then Dr. Gersten says she will call later that afternoon with the specialist's recommendation. Another full day goes by before she calls. He already went to another vet and got emergency medication that improved his condition, at least temporarily, by the time she called back. The holistic approach is supposed to focus on the whole patient, and not just on symptoms. But you're not supposed to ignore the symptoms. I had to go out of my way to explain what was going on with my cat. They didn't ask, and I don't think they really wanted to know. The expensive food and essential oils they sell will probably be good for your cat or dog, but you can purchase that without going to the veterinarian. If you have a serious issue, you will not want to go here. read more

I took my dog (maltesse) to the Little falls office because he was limping. 3 months prior he had gone thru a major surgery from the other knee. It was $4600 and super painful to my dog. The recovery was awful; so I didn't want to do this to my dog again. Another vet said he needed surgery. I took my dog to Holistic Pet Care and with Chiropractic sessions, vitamins and supplements, and laser treatments, he is back to normal. My pet cockatiel Charlie had been experiencing difficulty passing poo, so I brought her in. Not knowing much I kind of just hoped for the best. I was seen within 20 minutes of coming in, and was told that Charlie had been trying to lay an egg that broke. Long story short the doc gave Charlie anesthesia and flushed out the shell and yolk. The vet was knowledgeable and caring and he did a great job neutering my puppy; you could hardly see his stitches when he was finished and he didn't need to wear one of those silly cones you sometimes see on dogs. I came into Holistic Pet Care without my dog because I wanted to drop off paper work & explain to the doctor why I was seeking a house call vet, my dog suffers from seizures triggered by anxiety when he enters a vets office. I was charged by the doctor $125 just to do this. I find this an unethical practice. I should have been informed of this charge so I could, as a consumer, make an informed decision. I paid them a visit , actual meeting time was 30 min , with the Doctor running in and out of the room and reviewing the record inside the room while we're with him. I didn't like the feeing and my Bailey did not like him at all. She tried to run and fight him the whole time. I trust my baileys judgement on ppl, plus I walked out with 600+ bill. This "doctor" is a quack. I came in for my first visit and he thought my stepdad was my husband, so that started it off awkward. Then after examining my dog, wanted to do $$$$$ so many things $$$$. I declined on 3x/week chiropractic services, and I took his suggestion of a raw food diet, and nothing came of it. After trying a bunch of things I asked what to do next, and he told me to give my dog aspirin. ASPIRIN?? REALLY?? I've read so many articles where aspirin can KILL a dog. He's supposed to be a natural, holistic "doctor" so why would he want to prescribe pills??? I know there aren't many holistic doctors in NJ (I traveled an hour and a half to see him) but please do your research before going to see THIS ONE. I think there may even be some out in PA. We've taken our pomeranian Lex here since he was a puppy. He's 5yrs old now and alive because of Dr. B. About 2yrs back Lex got very ill suddenly. Might of been from rock salt still not totally sure but he ingested something toxic. He was vomiting blood, had bloody stool and getting worse by the minute. I normally always bring him to Dr. B. For everything but I brought him to Oradell first thinking they might of been better equipped for such an emergency. They did nothing for him, they didn't know what might be wrong and would just leave him in the cage overnight before starting any sort of treatment. We would have to pay a retainer fee of $1,000 just to start the next day. Point blank our dog would of died! So my husband and I called Dr. B and asked if they could help. They said bring him in! We told Oradell we'll take our dog out of here. You aren't doing anything and haven't done a thing since we've been there. They said that's fine but you owe $160 for the 45 mins your dog was in a cage here. Seriously they did nothing but throw him in a cage, their dr. Looked at him from a distance and said idk what's wrong with him, we have to test him. $160 for nothing! Oradell sucks! But that's another story. We paid, left with our dog and brought him to Holistic Pet Care. Dr. B stopped seeing patients to focus on Lex. They pumped his stomach, gave him an enema and had to pump his lungs because they were filled with fluid from all the vomiting he had been doing. He gave him fluids and kept him over night to make sure he was ok. They did some sort of a detox to remove anything that made him sick. Gave us stuff to help with his kidney and liver functions and took our emergency phone calls any hour of the day. Since then I'm so happy to report Lex is very alive and well. Dr Buchoff has amazing talent for fixing very sick animals.. And this is a story of my dogs Max-Sam and Chloe. But for now I will describe when I brought Max in one day filled with lung cancer. He was diagnosed by a top emergency hospital in NJ and they told me to take him home and he would be dead with in three days at the most. I was so devastated and it brought me to my knees. I was going to take him home and let him fade away and then I said I can not do this to him and I was not ready to let him go. I mean I was so shocked and thought I took such good care of him and bought the best can food and dry food and also put in my own veggie mix for color. Any way I asked my chiropractor to help me find a better doctor and she found Dr Buchoff. The first day he saw Max he felt his pulse, took more blood samples, and started a regimen of herbs and young living oils. He also changed the kind of food he was eating. No more dry food or caned. We went for initial exam for medical clearance. Cash visit, procedure and labs. We were told one vet would be going the procedure and it ended up being another. This one came out after and said oh well there's some string hanging out but it should fall out on its own soon. Yea the sutures were all crazy and not closed properly. My pup came out with a bigger scar then when we took him in. He went in to get neutered and to take care of a hernia. Cone didn't fit so we ended up going to buy another one. My son was super upset. The entire visit was a harrowing one. Much different from when we took my first one there and her surgery was free with voucher from shelter. So this was cash. The service has nothing to do with the cost or we would've been better taken care of. Not happy and never going back. We have another one to do but will be going elsewhere. UPDATE: Dr. Buckholz called me to resolve this. He was unaware of anything being wrong. While he did offer to make it right, my son didn't want to return. I'm SO glad I brought my dogs to Dr. Buchoff at Holistic Pet Care about two years ago. Before that, I never considered holistic veterinary medicine for my dogs. Dr. B spent a long time examining my dogs, explaining daily pet care how to maintain my dog's health, the value in feeding a raw meat diet, and his approach for holistic pet medicine. He offers chiropractic care,and alternativev modalities if needed, along with the traditional medical approach I was used to. He agrees with me that vaccinating a dog every year is not good for my dogs. He prefers to check the titers in the blood to see if the dogs really lack the vaccine before compunding them with the same dose usually given for a great dane (my dogs weigh 18 pounds each!) He details the lab work quickly and thoroughly. He doesn't focus on bringing me into the office frequently, which is good on my budget! My dogs love going there, but his advice has kept our vet visits minimal! I found the staff to be helpful, and aware that my time is as important as the veterinarian.
