I was super excited to try this place because of the prices alone. It seemed too good to be true to have an entire sushi boat for 20 something dollars and an uni bowl for even less. I was slightly concerned about eating budget sushi but I figured I'd take a chance. My bf and I came on a Thursday night at around 8:00 and it was surprisingly packed. It had a Japanese hole in the wall restaurant vibe to it, although it's Chinese owned. The walls were filled with menus and pictures; it was visual overload for anyone that steps foot in the restaurant. Seeing their extensive menu plastered on the walls was definitely very intimidating at first. We ordered the best seller roll combo($12.95), takoyaki($5.95) and the sashimi boat($23) The takoyaki was okay, they were semi circles so half the size of normal takoyaki and the squid pieces are so tiny. Flavor was decent though and good for the price. The best seller roll combo was delicious and I absolutely loved the spicy salmon and spicy scallop. They were both on top of California rolls so basically the combo came with 3 California rolls but I guess that's why it was so cheap. Last, the sashimi boat was small but packed a punch! There was salmon, tuna, tobiko, squid, scallop, tamago, octopus, mackerel and uni!! The sashimi was not the freshest but definitely did the trick and totally worth the price. The biggest disappoint was the uni but that's to be expected since that was a bonus seasonal item. I was surprised to see that the mackerel was cooked but I love cooked mackerel so I'm not complaining. Overall, you get what you paid for, maybe even a little more. Native to the borough of queens it was a journey to visit this establishment (1.5hrs). Thank goodness it was close to the station (literally across the street from the Bay Parkway -N train station). It was confusing to find the place due to the name not being posted in the front. Walking in the place, there were seats on the sides of the restaurants and sectionals on the left side (perhaps for people that dont like open concept dining). Seating is also available in the lower level with a back room for a private party. My friend booked the private room for a group of 9 people. The room was perfectly sized for 9 people. We were able to move a set of tables to one side of the room, which made it more comfortable for the 9 seats. Honestly, I dont think that room can fit more than 12 people (guess it also depends on the size of the people as well). Imagine bedroom size (not master bedroom). I was very grateful that we were allowed to come in a little early to freely rearrange the room and decorate. Although so much potential can be done with the room 1 star off). They need to touched up the paint on the walls. Love that there was central ac so the air was well circulated and silent. We were served by Jimmy, who was very attentive, polite, patient, nice, generous, exceptional and made the surprise birthday party more special with recommendations! He made little adjustments that was very thoughtful (such as the takoyaki is usually served in 8 pcs he gave an extra one just so 9 people can have their own- he made sure to serve for 9ppl) He definitely made the experience comforting and welcoming. We appreciate his service!! In regards to the food, they have a variation of takoyaki, cold dishes (marinated baby octopus, seaweed salad, kani salad, raw octopus), soy marinated eggs that was perfectly cook so the yolk is still golden yellow (like the ones in ramen), calamari, perfectly deep fried oysters (perfectly as in it was very well batter with the retention of crispiness on the outside and moist oysters inside), fries, and grilled squid with stuffed imitation crab meat. For the entrees we had two sets of sashimi platters. The cuts were thick and very fresh. Sashimi is not my cup of tea but my friends enjoyed it ALOT and it did look appealing. I in the other hand enjoyed their dragon roll, eel cucumber roll, shrimp tempura roll! There was also mussels with slightly scorched kewpie mayo on top which was very taste but I think it should have less mayo as it can cover the taste of the oyster. There was also slightly scorched tuna which was very good and I highly recommend - its like a medium rare scorched tuna on a bed of rice topped with little cuts of scallion. We were given complimentary stir fry egg noodle (yee mein) the "longevity noodles" that are also served at special occasions in Chinese restaurants. A complimentary bottle was also opened for us to celebrate the occasion. Also their water pitchers already have lemon slices in them!! And their rice tea is amazing! Never judge a book by its cover. I've always thought this is one of those expensive Asian sushi places. But I was wrong This place is small but has tons of options. The menus mostly had Japanese small dishes. And that's what it's mostly known for. The fried squid was truly one of the best I've had. Perfectly seasoned and just so so good. First experience on 8.8.15 --- I came here to celebrate my Sis-in-law's birthday with my Cheung family. The décor and size of this place reminds me so much of Saint Marks. I recall the experience to be fair. My family enjoyed the appetizers a lot more than the sushi though which were not that special looking and tasting. Maybe it had something to do with the rice. This is based on my opinion on the cooked sushi rolls. I couldn't tell if the raw sushi and sashimi were any good because I was pregnant at the time and couldn't intake any raw food. I just remember the appetizers being extra delicious and they have quite a variety on the menu. Second experience on 11.12.16 --- A year later, my Cheung family came back to order sushi platters (3 different kinds) to go because I have a toddler which makes it impossible to eat outdoors nowadays. However, the sushi, is just OK... . which confirms what my family members had told me last year when I couldn't have any that contained raw fish. Now in terms of the sushi, cooked and raw, I know for sure that the main issue is the rice part which needs more vinegar! This issue seems to be in existence for a year's length of time. I'll say this is one of the best Japanese restaurant in the Bensonhurst area. I always come here for lunch and dinner and no disappoint. They change up their menu a lot and always came up with new dishes. You'll definitely enjoy their food if you are a sushi lover and open to try some Japanese fusion dishes. Their quality of sushi really went down. Ordered from here recently for xmas dinner and noticed the sushi sizes literally shrunk. Sushi pcs are SO tiny now. I dont know if its cos they linked sushi and hk spot together and just overwhelmed, but their quality of food is poor now. We used to love longevousjoy and it was our goto sushi spot. I been eating sushi here since they opened because it's in my neighborhood and of course used to be the top notch in the area. So here is the story: I ordered the sushi take out on Dec 31 afternoon and after three hours I consumed the sushi while I prepare to go out I started to puke, follow up with a diarrhea. That's not just the end, it ended up I stay home threw up three times and also diarrhea three times that night that totally ruin my count down plan. The next day morning on Jan 1, I still had to diarrhea twice with a slightly fever. Now that I have to excuse from work for two more days...what a new year! Very disappointing experience today.. I come here occasionally--maybe once every few months and never understood why the ratings on yelp were so poor. To start off, I made sure to ask if the restaurant accepted credit cards because I literally had no cash on me nor did I have any money on my debit card (broke college student.) They welcomingly said yes they do! At the end of the meal, I pulled out my credit card and surprise surprise, the waiter said that they don't take my card?? Had to call a friend to immediately quickpay me, but honestly why didn't they mention this at the start instead of notifying me at the very end.. Way to trick the customer into dining here. I usually just stuck with what I knew best when I came to dine in, their best roll combo B, their lunch specials, and their takoyaki. I came in expecting to order the lunch special because I saw online how great of a deal it was from monday-friday 11am-3pm. But when I asked to order it, they explained to me that I couldn't order it today (Monday). They said they can't serve it on holidays, but no where does it indicate that on the menu. A lot of unwritten regulations/rules, including the whole credit card and this holiday rule.The sad part about my dining experience is that a small appetizer was the best part of my meal. Their rolls have declined in quality significantly-- the eel was dry and didn't taste very fresh. My boyfriend ordered the fantastic four for $22; we expected a flavorful and amazing dish for that price. However, it was so small. It looks like a bowl that you would order a side of rice on.. for $22!! (Look at photos attached) He finished the dish in less than 2 minutes and it didn't taste that good. I ordered the katsu don with egg and the egg made the dish so dry. The whole thing was just so dry and lacking flavor--we couldn't even finish it! I suggest adding Japanese mayo to add flavor for that dish. We spent a lot of money for mediocre food in extremely small portions. We regretted coming here when there is another really good sushi place two blocks away (Fugu sushi). Our stomachs both started hurting by the end of the meal. Doesn't seem fresh & they should be more specific when someone asks them if they take CARD. If my friend hadn't responded, we would've had no way of paying for the unreasonably expensive meal. I don't know, but my last experience here was one I'd rather forget. My friends and I were in the neighborhood and were looking for a place open at around 8:30 P.M. to grab a quick dinner, so we stumbled upon this place. I was craving some spicy ramen, so I settled for their Bloody Hell seafood ramen. The soup itself wasn't as "bloody hell" as their name implied and was just a mere exaggeration. If anything, this dish was more salty than spicy. The ramen itself was al-dente and wasn't bad, but I was expecting more from the soup. My dish tasted like the staff rushed to make it since they were in a hurry to close for the night. My friends and I also ordered some sushi pieces as an appetizer and they were just your standard AYCE-style tasting sushi pieces. Nothing special. Bento box comes w fried chicken pieces, California roll, rice and a miso soup. I also got Vietnamese shrimp and dry sausage fried rice which was okay. 3.5* Got the gyudon The menus I saw online said $10 but they charged me $11 plus tax when ordering takeout. The amount of beef was actually a lot more than expected. I was able to have beef with every bite of rice. It would be better if the beef wasn't as dry and had more flavor, but hey what am I paying for and it's takeout. It was especially sweet probably due to the sauce. There were onions too but it didn't stand out. Small bits of pickled ginger were scattered throughout. It might seem like just for decoration but the brightness of the ginger helped cut through the fat of the beef. The rice wasn't exactly Japanese sushi rice but good enough, better than the blehhh rice I have at home. Most of it had sauce from the beef but the sauceless bites were ok too, a break from all the flavors. Slightlyyyy too soft Soft boiled egg. I didn't expect to have one. Glad to see a soft yolk. The marinate was bad though, tastes like straight up soy sauce. The outside layers were too salty too My friend got the kimchi squid udon which was surprising. I'm not a fan of kimchi but this dish is more like kimchi sauce plus cabbage. Not sure what sauce they used but it came with a hint of tomato sauce, quite refreshing actually. Then of course there's slight spiciness. We can ignore the squid.... The udon itself isn't the worst of stuff out there. There's still slight chewiness. They did have a steady stream of customers coming in while we were there. They have a humongous amount of different sake. Whatever you palette will handle, they have one to satisfy you. The waitets were very nice and helpful and jumped to help you even with a glance in their direction. We had a variety of different things to eat. Had the Tako Yaki (baby octopus donuts) which had these flakes that moved while still hot. It was interesting and delicious. It did taste like a fresh donut just come out from the oven. Also had the potato shrimp. Strings of potato wrapped around shrmp.. very interesting. It did need just a little more flavor tho. Had the Nagoya lolipops also, which is fried chicken lolipops. I would come here every so often because the price is a bit more expensive than other restaurants in the Brooklyn area but it does carry better grade sushi that is better quality than most spots.
