And then she said, "No, wait, it's Linda's Birthday tomorrow; let's take her out to eat tonight." I replied, "That sounds good to me." So, there we have it: we're going out to eat and celebrate Linda's Birthday, and that sounds good to me. My Wife made the phone call, and it's all set. We're taking Linda out for her Birthday wherever she wants to go. She lives behind us and will be over at 5 pm, then we are going to Outback Steakhouse. That's where we took her last year for her Birthday. Off we went to celebrate Linda's Birthday. Outback isn't crowded yet, and it's Sunday dinner time. We were seated in a booth, and soon our Server, Crescent, came over. We asked about their "Aussie 3-Course" they've been advertising. She explained it to us, and then we ordered our drinks, unsweetened tea all around. That's "all around" for the three of us, not the entire restaurant. Just wanted to make that clear - I'm not doing that again. Their Bread & Butter plate was bought out, and it's Sweet Dark Brown Honey Wheat Bread made with Honey, Molasses, and a touch of Cocoa Powder. Served Warm with soft butter. This Bread is very soft and cuts with their knife nice-n-easy. Spread that butter on, and you are now enjoying some very Delicious Fresh Baked Dark Brown Bread. Soon our Iced Teas arrived, and we still have not totally decided what to order. A few minutes later, Crescent returned, and we placed our order. Guess what? All of us are ordering the same thing. Their "Aussie 3-Course". Their choices are "The Bloomin' Burger" / "Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp" / or the "Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie". You can also upgrade from these to other choices they offer. All three of us chose the "Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp" - Six Gold Coast Coconut-style Jumbo Prawns (shrimp), reduced version of Hooley-Dooley, hand-dipped in batter, rolled in Coconut, fried until Golden Brown, served with a Sweet & Tangy Creole Marmalade. There is also a choice of Salad or Soup. Choose the Salad: Mixed Greens, Cucumbers, Monterey Jack Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onion, and Seasoned Croutons, with a Creamy Homemade Ranch Dressing. We all also chose the same side, their Loaded Baked Potato: Large Russet Potato with Salted Skin, topped with Butter, Sour Cream, Cheddar Cheese, Crispy Bacon Bits, and chopped Green Onions. The "Aussie 3-Course" also comes with Dessert, New York style Cheesecake: A large slice of Plane, Ultra-Rich Cheesecake served with our choice of a Sweet Raspberry Melba Sauce. Their "Aussie 3-Course" is only $14.99 for each of these plates. What a Deal. Orders are in, and we finished off that Dark Brown Honey Bread. I love it when restaurants make their own bread. It makes your dining a little more special. Soon, our Salads arrived, and they were served in a Huge Bowl with Crunchy Greens and fresh Veggies. This is one of the Largest House Salads around, and it's all Freshly made and Delicious. Their Ranch Dressing is what they say it is: Creamy. It took a while to finish the salad because there is a lot there - but Linda & I did. My Wife saved some of hers to enjoy with her dinner. Crescent came around often to check on us, and each time we chatted some more. She is really nice, knows a lot about Outback, and the entire menu. Our Iced Teas were filled often and quietly. Soon, our Salads were gone, and our Main Course arrived. Your eyes go right to the Prawns, or Coconut Shrimp, because they are HUGE and completely covered in Golden Brown Coconut. There are only Six on each plate, and yet it covers the entire plate, except for what the Loaded Baked Potato covers, which is also HUGE. The Marmalade for the Shrimp is right in the center, and it looks Thick and Yummy. The Baked Potato salted skin is very well covered, and the aroma fills the area. Outback is doing this right. My first bite was one of the Large Shrimp dipped in the Marmalade, and it was Perfect. Lots of Coconut on these Shrimp, and the flavor is Amazing, especially with the Marmalade, which also has a sweetness to it. The Loaded Baked Potato is one of the Best Loaded Baked Potatoes in town. They really pack in the toppings. Love the Salted Skin. I normally don't salt anything, but I will make an exception to this because it's prepared perfectly with lots of toppings. Crescent brought out our Cheesecakes, each in its own container, and a big bag to carry it all in, along with the leftovers. My Wife told Crescent that she is an Awesome server, and it was a delight to have you at our booth. She also told her that she is Beautiful and Cute, and I totally agree. I can say that now because my Wife told her first. See, guys, that's how you do it. Let your Wife or Girlfriend tell her first, then you can. Due to low supply of ribs my husband was only able to get a 1/2 order with his coleslaw which was ok because they discounted the price by 1/2 so not bad. I opted for the 2 meat dinner with 2 sides. I would have like a little more of the meat as I mostly got sausage. We both loved our meals, tender flavorful meat, great baked beans and the coleslaw and Mac-n-cheese were good as well. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area plus they have a desert choice too. While we were sitting and devouring our dinner, we noticed a lot of carry out orders so that was nice to see their carry out business was busy. We try to avoid chain restaurants and stick to mom & pop businesses and we prefer to do business downtown or as close to it as possible to support our local businesses. Those to the N, W, S, E and rural areas of town can support those outer-lying businesses. We will be returning customers and I do recommend you give these folks a try the next time you have the urge for BBQ. People paying premium prices expect premium treatment, and when that expectation is missed this badly, it directly impacts repeat business, reputation, and ultimately revenue. If management doesn't start investing in customer comfort and proactive planning--especially for predictable issues like weather--this place will continue to lose high-paying clients. Right now, it feels like profit is prioritized over people, and that's a losing strategy.
