    HUGE Pork belly appetizer
    Jocelyn L.

Loveddddd having dinner here! The chef, Jason told us that the menu changes seasonally which is awesome because that means there's always something new to try. The pork belly appetizer was a huge portion and was very flavorful, Jason was very generous with the sauce as pictured. I got the crab cakes which were soft, flavorful, and very filling.. The mashed potatoes were to die for, I wish I had an entire plate of just that. My honey had the surf and turf which he enjoyed but stated that the steak felt a bit tough. Our desserts were amazing the creme brûlée was the perfect portion and had the perfect amount of sweetness, the tuxedo cake had too much chocolate for me but he enjoyed it very much. Our waitress was kind and helpful when giving suggestions. Jason came out and greeted us and asked how everything was and had a whole convo with us which was unique. We look forward to coming back here and trying other dishes!

Still one of the best places to dine out in the city. The new menu makes it even more inviting than before. You gotta go here if you want to see the best that the city has to offer you for quality and customer service.

Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen :( We come to San Angelo once a year, and one of the highlights of our visit is eating at Peasant Village. We have been there a couple of times, but tonight was a true disappointment ... I do not know what changed since last year, but it was a completely different experience. The menu has changed, and it felt like the quality went down. The pork belly had way too much sauce, and it was overly sweet. You could not taste anything but the sauve. I was looking forward to their parmesan mashed potatoes (or maybe some risotto), but they only had some sort of rice that was simply not up to par. The rice had no flavor, and the texture was all wrong. It was no substitution for the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. They did not have any creme brulee either (they only had bread pudding). Keep in mind that we went on Friday night (prime weekend dinner time), and there were no potatoes or creme brulee!!! The waiter said they "ran out of stuff" the night before and that they were closed on Saturday!! I have been looking forward to that creme brulee for weeks, but no luck here! Peasant Village has properly disappointed me. Time to find a new place :(

Our group called for a reservation and I am a vegan so we asked if there were options available. We were told that the chef would come out to the table to discuss a personalized vegan dish. He did not disappoint. The dish was amazing. It was 2 different kinds of mushrooms with roasted tomatoes and it was so flavorful and juicy (i forgot to take a picture ). The rest of the party ordered various dishes and they all came out promptly and they looked so beautiful. The drinks tasted so fresh and looked gorgeous. The espresso martini changed my life. Overall it was a fantastic experience and our server Serena made it that much better. This place is a must visit.

Upscale yet casual. Saturday night. It wasn't terribly busy but reservations highly recommended. Awesome venue in a historic cottage across the street from the water lilly gardens. This is likely the best restaurant in San Angelo. The menu is thoughtful. It's not expansive, but there is something for everyone. The food is great. Started with the fried green tomatoes and truffle fries. Both superb. We had the duck, crab cakes, and ribeye for entrees. All were perfectly cooked, well plated, and delicious. Sides are large enough for 3-4 to share. Prices are appropriate and reasonable. Service is friendly but a little frazzled. Not sure why 3 plates come out staggered. A kitchen should be able to serve 3 diners together. We observed several other tables suffered the same fate. Bartender is always behind. Cocktails were well made, slightly overpriced, and really slow to the table. He wouldn't make it in Austin. We had a great time and will be back. Hope to add that 5th star when we do.

We we're looking for a place to have an intimate dinner for a special occasion and PV delivered. Our food was cooked to perfection. The Risotto was so good and creamy. Food was truly delicious. This place is all about making your dinner special. I love that this restaurant is by reservation only. Our waitress was so kind and did everything to make our night special. This will definitely be our dinner date place. Seating is limited giving a cozy ambiance.

We were greeted pretty quickly. We were in from out of town and had no idea this was a restaurant where reservations are best. We were glad Mark was able to get us in. Start to finish this was an absolutely divine meal. The drinks, starter, entrees, everything was amazing. I might say the beef in the stroganoff was a little tough, but that's how freshly prepared ribeye goes when you're cooking it in a sauce. But seriously, that secret family recipe sauce was amazing and the bacon wrapped chicken was worth coming back for. Mark was on point start to finish, try to get in his section. My sister and I a glorious time.

SEARED ALMOND CRUSTED MAHI! My meal came out to Perfection. Highly recommendation.
    Mike S.

Highly recommended. Very delicious MAHI, our experience was great, we also order the fried asparagus and they were very delicious. The breading was very crispy. Our only complaint if I'm being nit picking is that our waitress could have been more attentive to our drinks order, she gave me a refill with the wrong beverage. But overall it was a great experience and definitely will be coming back.

I am here in San Angelo for the weekend and several people recommended me to visit Peasant Village and encouraged me to make a reservation before coming and boy, were they right! The restaurant is cozy and inviting. The staff is beyond friendly. Most importantly, the food.... Oh my God the food! Absolutely delicious! From the Smoky Manhattan to the Crawfish Dip to the Filet Mignon and to the Creme Brûlée, everything was seasoned to perfection, cooked on point and in generous portions! Definitely a place to visit if you are in San Angelo!

I know you know yesterday was Valentine's Day, and it's a good day to take your "Better Half" (and…read moreyou know that's true) out for Dinner at one of her favorite places. "The Grill". That also sounds really good to me. We know The Grill will be busy, especially since Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday, so we left earlier than normal. Arrived, and a good number of cars were parked all around. Walked in, and the place is packed, with every bar stool and table taken. The Hostess said it will only be a few minutes for your table. In a couple of minutes, a table was available. After we were seated, more people arrived, but they also only had to wait a couple of minutes. The Grill has two bartenders working along with several servers, and a couple of employees cleaning up the tables when they become available. Our Server is Sophia, and she took our drink order. Two Jack-N-Cokes and waters. While we waited for our drinks, we looked over the menu. We kind of already know what we are going to order, and we did. My Wife is going with one of her usuals, their "Happy Hour Nachos" ($6.50), listed as 'Roasted Pork Nachos' on the main menu. Slow Roasted Pork, Chipotle Sauce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over lots of Fresh Chips with Green sliced Jalapenos on one side, and Red sliced Jalapenos throughout the plate. I am going with the "Baja Fish Tacos", Blackened Baja Fish with Chipotle Sauce, and pickled Slaw. Served with Guacamole, Rice, Black Beans, and double Corn Tortillas for three Tacos. We placed our order with Sophia when she served our drinks. Then we toasted to Valentine's Day, and us. The bartenders here make the Best Jack-N-Cokes around. They are really good, smoooooooth, and go down easy. While we waited for our food, The Grill became busier and busier, with more people waiting. Glad we came a little early. Sophia stopped by, as well as one of the Managers checking on us to see if we needed anything. Service here is always tops. Soon our food arrived, and my Wife's Roasted Pork Nachos were served the same as they always have been, piled up high and covering the entire plate, and I might add, very colorful. I Love the way they prepare the Baja Fish Tacos with a Huge chunk of perfectly grilled fish all by itself next to the Rice & Black Beans, a large scoop of Fresh Guacamole, and several Corn Tortillas for you to make your own, with Pickled Slaw to the side. Both dishes are a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness that you will find nowhere else. The Grill does it right. My Wife's Nachos have a lot of melted cheese oozing everywhere with lots of corn chips and several pounds of Roasted Pulled Pork. Well, okay, maybe not 'pounds', but there are a lot of large chunks throughout this dish. She said it is delicious and loving that Pulled Pork. She ate about half of it and will take the rest home for a meal that will be for both of us - you get a lot of food at The Grill. I cut off a long chunk of fish, spread their Chipotle Sauce on a couple of corn tortillas, then the fish, topping it off with rice & black beans, guacamole, and their pickled slaw. This Fish Taco is Deliciousness and more. The perfectly grilled Baja Fish has lots of flavor with just enough spice from the chipotle sauce. I made three of these, each a little different, and they all were very Tastylicious. Each Taco was so filled with goodies I could not fold it over, and I ate them more like a Tostada instead. Either way, they are The Best. I also have some fish left over that I ate with the remaining sides, adding that chipotle sauce to each bite. I ate all of mine, with no leftovers to take home. While we were enjoying our food, Sophia said that she would like to take a picture of us with my camera because we are a cute couple. Hey, I couldn't disagree with that, so she did. Flattery will get you everywhere. Thank You Sophia. Well, guess what? Sophia earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm, and a nice tip. We boxed up my Wife's leftovers and headed home, and The Grill was still busy as ever when we left. This was a Great way to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner.

Several days back, I received an email from Texas Roadhouse celebrating their 20th Anniversary. In…read moreour book, that's 240 Month-i-versaires, and that's a mighty long time. The email stated that all you have to do is go to Texas Roadhouse and pick up a sealed envelope, keep it unopened, and then bring it back between the dates of June 22 and 26th. The Manager will then open the envelope, revealing the prize you will receive. The Main Prizes are a 65" TV, a BBQ Grill, a James Avery Gift Card, or Free Steak for a Year. There are various other prizes also. Well, we did just that. We picked up our envelope and kept it in a jar of mayonnaise on Funk & Wagnalls porch (just like Carnac the Magnificent did) for safekeeping. On Tuesday, the day arrived, and we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We checked in with the Hostess, and it was easy to find our booth. We just followed the aroma coming from the Basket of Fresh Hot Rolls they provide with their Honey Cinnamon Butter. First thing we did was grab one of those Delicious Rolls, added lots of that Honey Cinnamon butter, and began one of life's greatest pleasures. These Rolls are Awesomelyliciousnes. Our Server, Keleigh, came over and took our drink order. We both are having their Daily Special, Long Island Iced Teas (for only 5-bucks ea). We looked over the menu while our drinks were being made. Soon, Keleigh brought over our drinks, and we placed our order. My Wife and I both are going with their "Road Kill": 10 oz Chopped Steak, Seasoned with their Signature Steak Seasoning, smothered with Yellow Onions & Bella Mushrooms sauteed in Butter, topped with melted Jack Cheese. Served with two sides. We both went with the "House Salad": Fresh Greens, Cheddar Cheese, Tomatoes & Crumbled Egg with Croutons. Also, Ranch Dressing. She went with the "Seasoned Rice"; Rich, Buttery, and Savory prepared using Long Grain White Rice, Chicken & Beef Broth, Soy Sauce, Yellow Onion, Smoked Paprika, and Garlic Powder with Black Pepper. I am having the "Texas Red Chili": Made from scratch, Ground-up Steak Trimmings & Rich Tomato & Beef Broth Base, heavily seasoned with Chili Powder & Cumin. Topped with Shredded Cheddar Cheese and chopped White Onion. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed those Long Island Iced Teas. Texas Roadhouse makes the Best LITs around. Lots of flavor from all the liquor blended in this masterpiece by their Bartenders. We also ate the basket of Rolls, which were served Fresh, Hot, and Meltylicious. Soon, the House Salads arrived, and no one in town makes them like TRH does. They are not only a Beautiful Presentation of Deliciousness, but are served Fresh, Cold and Crisp. They don't skimp on size either; it covers the entire plate. We enjoyed our salads, and soon after, my Cup of Texas Red Chili arrived. I Love Red Chili, and get this almost every time we come here - it's that good. Not only is it flavorful, but also Very Warm with just the right amount of Chili Heat for me. One of these times, I am going to order a Bowl of this Texas Red Chili. It should go perfectly with their Fresh Hot Rolls. But that's next time, maybe, or the time after that. They have so much to choose from, it's hard to decide what enjoyment you want. Shortly after my Chili was devoured, they brought out our "Road Kill". This is the first time my Lovely Wife has ordered the Road Kill, and it's probably the upteenth time for me. It is also the Best Road Kill I have ever had, anywhere. It's known as Chopped Steak at other restaurants, but TRH names it properly. It makes me wonder what road they use. Both are a thing of Beauty, and they are not skimping on size. The toppings are also plentiful and look delicious. Mine is Med-Rare, while Nancy's ordered Medium. Her first bite said it all, because she took a second bite before she said anything. This is some Good Road Kill. I love how they season this chopped steak, it's amazinglylicious with every bite, juicy and full of flavor. The Sauteed Mushrooms & Onions only add more flavor to this Perfectly Seasoned Road Kill. I finished all of mine and am completely stuffed to the gills. Nancy ate half of hers and took it home with the Seasoned Rice for Lunch on Wednesday. Keleigh was a delight to talk to, checked on us at just the right time. She is not only a Top Server, but Very Beautiful. She also earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. And she bartends here at times, and we look forward to seeing her again. Keleigh also noticed that I'm a Veteran and gave us 10% off our meal. The Manager stopped by our booth to see how we are doing, and also opened up our envelope to see what gift was in store for us. (I did wipe all the mayo off) We didn't win the 65" TV, or any of the other Big Prizes, but we did win a "Sidekick of Shrimp or Ribs", which is great for us because both of these are some really good stuff. We come here a lot and look forward to enjoying our next choices.

We were recently in town visiting family and wanted to eat before we left town to go home. The well-known place we used to eat now closes on Sundays. That's their loss because we've declared the Dun Bar our new Sunday lunch spot when we're in town. Thelma was our server and she was just delightful. This is probably the most hole in the wall place I've ever given full stars. Don't get me wrong, I love a hole in the wall, but sometimes the food in a hole in the wall is a little boring. Like this food, it was so simple, chicken fried steaks, grilled chicken breast, a Thanksgiving lunch on Sundays, side salads, humble sides... but it's all so absolutely ridiculously GOOD. We started with the large plate of onion rings (which is $7.50, btw, you won't find that anywhere else) and my sister lost her mind about them. lol For our entrees we had two chicken fried steak plates (different sides) and a grilled chicken plate. The gravy is served on the side, family style, and it was probably one of the best gravys I've ever had. It's not just flour and water, it tasted more complex like it had broth in it as well. Somehow with the modest price of these very flavorful dishes, they still give you free dessert. Very generous. I typically hate carrot cake, but this cake was moist and really good. It was almost like a spice cake, very well done. Do not sleep on this place. The surroundings are run down, the motel behind it has seen better days, but the food is legit and the kindness can't be beat. If you go on a Sunday, ask for Thelma and tell her the girls from Fort Worth say hi.
