I had a very good time celebrating with family there at Longhorn, last night. Olivia was our server and she did an excellent job! She was so alert to our requests. She was friendly. She was working hard. Our meals were very delicious. I had a strip steak, brussels and a baked potato that was loaded . My drinks were so refreshing and such a treat on the weekend. The restaurant was packed but really we were not crowded because there was plenty of space between booths and all the tables. This place used to be great for the area but recently has been falling off. Last two times I've been here, I've found hair on my food/drinks. The servers were pleasant about it and swapped the items but still, that's unacceptable. I have been to various Longhorn locations over the years. I've always gotten a good meal. I reviewed the Port St. Lucie location a while back and it was very good. This West Melbourne is out standing. We had the shrimp appetizer which was crispy, fresh and served in a boat shaped dish. The portion was extremely generous. I had the 22 oz Longhorn which was very tender and cooked to the requested temperature. Everyone in my party of 3 was extremely pleased with their meal. We would have liked to try the cheesecake that was displayed on the menu but no one had any room left. Our server CJ helped to make our visit even better with her attentive service and positive attitude. Up until this experience the Steakhouse 1 exit away was my favorite. Now, I'm not so sure. My girlfriend and I came in last night at 8:50 it wasn't to busy at all the employees were all cleaning and seemed eager to leave it took over 5 minutes to be sat. We waited almost 15 minutes while nobody came to our table to serve us drinks or acknowledge us being there. Started with getting a wrong drink - ordered a double Vodka and Tonic - received a single vodka on the rocks. Soups were cold. There was a hair on one of the dinners. The final straw was that I ordered a steak medium rare, received in medium well. When I sent it back, they ended up cooking the same steak even more. Just a comedy of errors. They ended up taking the dish off the bill but after everything, I just wanted to get out of there. Overall, the server was nice. She just seemed not wanting to be there. Longhorn has long been one of my favorite steakhouse chain restaurants. I generally like the way that they are decorated. It definitely gives off the right kind of atmosphere for a steakhouse. It's priced about how you would expect to be. The only thing I can say lately is service has not been how it used to be. It just seems as though they don't care like they used to. We've been to this location several times now, and every time we have, we ordered a steak or a burger medium rare, and every time, it's come to us extremely rare or raw. We've given them a few chances because the waiters have always been happy to get them out back on the grill to the doneness we ordered, the shrimp appetizers are always excellent, and the manager was always there to check up on things afterward. This most recent time however, we received hamburgers that were literally raw on the inside, and while the waitress returned them to the kitchen, when she brought them back, she saw fit to bring us a card describing various levels of doneness and implied that we just didn't know what medium rare is. She didn't even see the need to call the manager over when we didn't even eat after she returned our burgers charred to charcoal on the outside and still part raw the inside. While we did hunt down the manager, (a different one than the one we've usually dealt with) this was the last straw. We're done putting up with having to send our food back every time, and the food isn't anywhere near good enough to be worth dealing both that and snarky waitresses who can't tell medium rare from raw. read more

I'm only giving 4 stars because the hostess/ manager at the front were HORRIBLE at quoting wait times for a busy Saturday evening. I understand it was a busy Saturday evening for dinner rush but we had two little children with us. They quoted 30 min wait, not a big deal. Then continuously kept quoting 10 minutes, another 10 minutes, and finally we were over an hour wait and our kids were hungry, tired, and fresh out of patience. That was frustrating as a parent. We could've gone somewhere else. Other than that, our server was AMAZING! Her name was Samantha. She understood we waited a long time. I ordered steaks for both my grandma and myself. I got medium rare and she got medium well. Her steak was a literal HOCKEY PUCK. I felt so bad for her. "See why I order on the rare side" Of course I cooked my steak up and split with her. The only reason I give 2 stars is because when I called the manager gladly refunded my card for both meals.
