Rarely do I go to a chain restaurant for barbecue but as I was in the Melbourne area around dinner time on a Tuesday I decided to give it a try. I had actually been in this Smokey Bones about 15 years ago and when I walked in I realized nothing had changed style wise and some of the booths were very worn. Our server came over immediately and asked about drinks. After a quick glance at the draft beer list we decided on two 22 ounce beers. As I always like an appetizer we chose the onion rings which were well made and served with a nice sauce. For main courses we ordered a classic cheese burger with bacon with a premium side upgrade to the loaded baked potato. We also had a 1/2 rack of signature ribs with premium side upgrades Mac and cheese and loaded baked potato. All the food was fresh, hot and tasty especially when paired with the four barbecue sauce choices. For a chain restaurant the food was worth the price. read more

Experience: New Year's Eve afternoon around 12:15 and we placed a Togo order. Facility: This place smells amazing as soon as you walk in. Not surprisingly it smells smoky and delicious. I'm also hungry The place has a sports bar vibe. Lots of TVs if you want to watch the game. They have high and low tables and chairs, bar seating and some booths. Service: We tried to do curbside order online but they don't allow you to use more than one gift card and I had 2 to use. So I went inside and placed the order. Paula took my order and she was awesome and helpful. Also, while waiting for the order to be done, a manager and even the bartender came by and checked on me to ensure I had been helped and to see if I needed a drink. Everyone is wonderful here!! Food: Bacon cheese burger and cheese fries - 3/5 the burger was great although somehow they forgot the bacon, but I told them we only wanted cheese and bacon on the fries, but they put some weird sweet bbq flavor on them. My kid wouldn't eat them. A waste of our money. Korean lollipops - 5/5 these were good... I especially loved the sauce as it had the perfect amount of spicy heat. Brisket sandwich - 5/5 yum... loved this!! Crispy Texas toast style bread with cheese and BBQ brisket. Sweet potato fries - 5/5 they were good according to my kid Banana pudding - they did not have this, but the manager replaced it with 2 other desserts, which was very kind. Hot donuts 5/5 - these are sooo good! We didn't eat the sauces, but this flavor reminds you of fried dough at the fair. Really rich and yummy!! Overall: I will definitely be back. Wow!! My experience was so good! I came here for happy hour and Smoky Bones definitely didn't disappoint. I got so much bang for my buck! I started with pretzel bones and a 6oz glass of Merlot and then moved onto the loaded nachos (which don't include meat) but I ordered the pork sandwich that only cost $5 which had enough meat to spread over my nachos and enjoy the sandwich for the next day (: then finished with a cornbread skillet. All of this great food came to $25. I forgot to take pictures of the whole spread but I left happy, well fed and content with my leftovers. Staff was great and friendly. I wish I could give half stars. I'd say this place is a solid 3.5. For positivity reasons and the fact that the service was good I rounded up. Now to the food: Brisket- I found this to be a bit fatty and dry. Once I added BBQ sauce it was good. For sides I had the baked potato. She offered to send the manager over to make an adjustment on the bill. We weren't looking for an adjustment, just a heads up for the kitchen because improper holding/cooking temperature for food can make people sick. Nonetheless she went to the manager and returned with my husband's chicken removed from the check. Another kudo to her. At first, this employee nodded in agreement at my statement, but then I watched as the logic fallacy slowly dawned on her face. Of course, I didn't come into a BBQ joint for philosophy. I came to eat, so let's begin. Even if you have never seen me, you can tell by my name that I am not an ectomorph with a lean and delicate build. When I come into an eating establishment, my intention is to eat Big Boy Style. The large assortment of meats were all low quality. Everything was overcooked and at $70.00 for two people without alcohol, everything was overpriced too. If mediocre-at-best fare, unreasonable prices, and lackluster waitstaff didn't make it clear enough, the glacial pace of the kitchen itself would indicate the inferiority of this entire operation, although supposedly Smokey Bones outperformed the casual dining industry during the pandemic and was certified as a Great Place to Work two years in a row. We came here as a random choice between the family. We had a party of 5 and we were quickly sat. We were greeted and ordered by our lovely waitress, Fish. :) She was absolutely amazing and engaged with us the entire time. She showed us many valuable options but we settled on her recommendations. We had the pretzel bones (not pictured) and they're were amazing. Ask for the Parmesan ranch sauce it's amazing. My wife ordered a stacked baked potato which has cheese sour cream pulled pork and bacon sprinkled. She loved it!!!! The boys had a meat bucket aka bone fire grill. It comes with chicken steak sausage ribs and wings. It was amazing 11/10 would order again. If you're in the area try one out. Definitely will be back and recommend this place and Fish. Smokey Bones has been a staple when visiting family in Brevard County. It had been a few years since I dropped in, but I had always considered it to be on par with some of the other big box chains. This was a less than stellar experience. I am giving 2 stars because the gentleman who greeted and sat us when we arrived enumerated customer service. Went on a Sunday so no specials (clearly denoted on the menu but unfortunate). Also, if you are a hot tea drinker, you may want to get your fix elsewhere because they haven't removed it from the menu and allegedly don't carry it anymore. Waited close to 30 minutes for the food. The meals were lukewarm at best. The potato was absolutely pathetic for an entrée that its running you $20 and up. The steak had no flavor or zest to it. The waitress was MIA for the 90% of the visit, having only asked if we needed anything when we received the food and when the bill was requested. We didn't ding her for it on the tip because everyone has off days but I have zero interest what so ever in going back. Maybe the portion sizes have always been this small, but this was the 1st time that I left a restaurant hungry and needing to stop somewhere else.
