Y'all. I grew up on Woody's in Broward. It is my blueprint for barbecue. We've been languishing down here ever since they closed like twenty years ago, but imagine my delight when I found out there was one in Melbourne! We've been having family drive big takeout orders down here from this location whenever they visit and it is just as good as I remember. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, and the barbecue sauce is the perfect blend of sweet, savory, and smoky. The cornbread is soft and sweet, the toast is buttery and thick, the coleslaw is chopped small and not too wet or too celery heavy. And the BEANS. I love these baked beans. They have pieces of pork in them and are perfect. I could eat an order of just beans and be happy. I've also recently discovered their sausages, which pair so well with the spicy barbecue. Their coconut cream pie and chocolate pie are delightful too. I've never eaten in here so I can't speak to the actual restaurant experience. That being said, the staff do go out of their way to pack the orders in the catering trays when they hear we're taking it long distance. We have sometimes had issues with pieces of the order getting left out, but they've always been very good about making it up to us. We've been going here for over 30 years. I believe there's been a change of ownership cause things have gone downhill. The quality is terrible. The chicken is absolutely dried out and nothing like it used to be prices have gone through the roof waitress staff is hit and miss some good some terrible again things have changed and just not the quality barbecue that it used to be ......Sundays We go there for all you can eat chicken and its been dried out if you like chicken jerky, perfect!!!! because it's just what it is very dry.... the sides we find the french fries are the best thing that we enjoy them now the baked beans are are hit and miss different each time this last visit not so good. ...Same thing with the greens had a medicine taste???? after many years going here we have changed our mind and be honest you can go to Golden corral their fried chicken and baked chicken the steak or even Ribs are better than what you're gonna find here now ! so they lost us as a customer after many years they need to get their act together and hold to the old ways that made this a great barbecue place in town. So very thankful for WOODY'S! Just a year here in the 321 and we have been a bit depressed about the food landscape-haven't found decent Mexican or Greek food ANYWHERE yet, but this BBQ was a hit after 1 visit, though my hubby came here REGULARLY nearly 35 years ago when he was a hungry rowing coach in college. These days.....I'm most impressed by mom and pop places that can DELIVER VALUE and QUALITY. It's getting harder to make those eating out decisions. Support the local places that are grinding day in and day out to earn your dollar. Woody's has an ENORMOUS menu with just about anything (baby back ribs and half chicken and sweet potatoes are STANDOUTS) and the prices are EXTREMELY fair for this economy. Cafeteria food masquerading as a BBQ restaurant. I'll start with the positives: - The sides were good. Nothing special, but an adequate and basic execution of the dishes. - The service was good. Again, not great, it's not a selling point, but I can't and wouldn't want to complain about it either. The atmosphere was good. Like a slightly larger and more commercialized diner. And now the bad: the meat. And boy was the meat a disappointment. I ordered the sampler platter, "A Taste of Woody's," to try their full range. What I got was a sizable combination of some of the driest and blandest meats I have ever experienced. - The Spare Ribs and BBQ Pork were dry and flavorless. You could pour sauce on them, but they added nothing to the sauce themselves. Just a tough flavorless vehicle to add chew to the sauce. - The Smoked Turkey Breast was decent, on par with a good grocery store pre-packed deli meat. It would make a fine sandwich. - The Texas Beef Brisket set itself apart from the others, being soft, juicy, and seasoned...with so much salt that it was almost inedible. - The BBQ Chicken was a dry and flavorless chicken breast. - The Smoked Sausage was ok. Only my second visit to a Woody's. Both visits were at this location. I stopped in for a solo dinner on a recent Tuesday night, 7:25 PM. The place was not busy at all. After ordering and beginning to eat I overheard the fact that they close at 8 PM. I did notice a small temp sign on the door as I was leaving listing the closing time at 8. I hadn't seen it on the way in. Before I finished eating the crew was sweeping, mopping, putting bar stools up and doing their closing work. My receipt time says 8:16, that's when I paid and left. I passed a family on my way out that was getting out of their car. I told them Woody's closes at 8. They, too, were surprised and said they'd checked online and it said 9. Disappointed, they got back into their car and left. Funny, but all of Woody's online presence; Facebook, Yelp, Website still give the closing time at 9 PM. Even if the new hours are just temporary, it would be so helpful to change them online. Would sure help a lot of folks. Okay, enough complaining. My visit was handled by Kaitlin and she did a superb job! She was very pleasant and handled my dining experience like a pro. I ordered the 'A Taste of Woody's' combo, for $16.99. That's a platter of spare ribs, BBQ pork, Texas beef brisket, smoked turkey breast, smoked sausage and BBQ chicken, with fries and BBQ beans as sides. A WHOLE lotta food, folks! But, I figured this way I can sample everything worth samplin! I was NOT disappointed! I really enjoyed the smokey good flavors on the variety of textures and tastes. Darn fine BBQ at a decent price! Good restaurant - great baby back ribs. This location is along the south side of US 192 in a shopping center with Publix as the anchor store. It is located on one corner of the shopping center. There is plenty of parking. You enter through the side door. All the tables are booths that I saw. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean. The food came out quickly and was very good. There are several different sauces on the table. We had the baby back ribs. They were delicious. Prices were reasonable and not expensive. read more

BBQ places wax and wane around here seemingly with the Lunar Phase and not many are left standing after a few years, this place was still around, so that told me they were doing something right. Still, with that said, the only quality BBQ I have found in this county is Cryderman's. With an open mind and empty stomach, I set my coordinates to Woody's and set forth. Woody's began not unlike the famed Soup Nazi of Seinfeld lore. Woody Mills took a "dog-eared collection of his mother's recipes" and open a BBQ joint in Jacksonville, FL. There are now 14 franchises in the Sunshine State with three more planned to open soon and one way up the Eastern Seaboard in the Keystone State (PA). Upon being seated and handed a menu, my waitress, Tessie, came over and introduced herself. She has an unpleasant attitude and claimed it was due to the fact that she was flying solo (when I was waiting I preferred to work alone as in meant more money in my pocket). Apparently, making as much money as possible is no longer important to people, but bitching about not making enough is in vogue...my, how things have changed. Between complaints, I managed to get in an order for the Southern Trio with 1/2 chicken (white meat), brisket and smoked sausage with sides of Fries and the obligatory Slaw. The Chicken was wonderful and cooked to perfection. The flavor was both tangy and sweet as BBQ oughta be. The beef brisket, as one can see from the pictures, was a lump of overcooked charred bovine flesh and was too tough to chew. Unless one likes chewing on shoe leather. The smoked sausage saved the day and is worth a full star all by itself. It presented full BBQ flavor and was grilled by an obvious grill master. The side of fries were slightly too crispy for my liking (read overcooked) and tasteless for the most part. The Slaw was another story. It was fresh, creamy, crunchy and exploded with flavor. Tessie did rally at the end and I caught some glimpses as to the waitress she usually is, as she said, she was just unhappy to be working alone and it showed. All in all, it was an average meal with average service...nothing wrong with that! Hidden gem. You can tell it is great when you walk in to the BBQ aroma and line of all locals. I had stack of sliced turkey on a bun and my Wife had catfish dinner with sweet potato. The staff is incredibly friendly. They seem like the group of friends you hung out with at a block party growing up. Outstanding service. I had the wings and ribs. I have to share, the presentation was bad. The ribs looked less than desirable on the plate and the wings came in a puddle of sauce. Don't judge a book by its covers. Ribs were outstanding! Flavorful, fell off the bone! Terrific! The wings, I did pull them out of the puddle, so they could keep their krispiness. They also were great. Beer was inexpensive! A couple of weeks ago friends ordered from this place and I had the cajun sauce with wings. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. I had to go back and try these wings again. We went and ordered 2lbs of wings and they did not disappoint. The price is awesome for what you get with them and I think it is overall cheap. I also love the ice they serve with our drinks. For those that love to chew on the ice this place rocks for that too. We didn't eat anything else other than wings and it was very fulfilling. This place is a very laid back restaurant with plenty of parking. The staff is very friendly too. I can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. Don't take 3 stars as bad. This is a decent place. Let's start with the good. The baby back ribs are excellent. Fall off the bone, good flavor. I've been 3 times, and never been disappointed. Short beer list, but Monday and Tuesday are two for one. The Texas toast must be bad for you, as it tastes so good! Now for the so-so. The sides are ok, but no imagination. They should have collard greens, not turnip greens which are quite stringy and tough. Slaw is really basic, and should be something to be proud of, but I think its out of a can. Seats and general ambiance are what you might expect for a place like this. Just OK. The chicken and turkey, while perfectly edible, do not have any sort of smoky flavor. Its like something you'd make at home. Again, its ok, but nothing like the ribs. My wife had the pulled pork and turkey breast, and the pork was the better choice. Ok, the sort of bad. They have some weird service things. One night, I was alone, and sat at the little bar area. Now, when a single person comes to the bar, you can assume they have no one to talk to, and want to get served on a timely basis. One woman was on the phone, and the other three waitresses, who were not busy, were coo-cooing over someone's baby. I finally had to wave my arms. Nothing. Finally the person hung up the phone and came over "I can only do one thing" she says. Ok, if you are in charge, direct one of the other waitresses to pop over and give me a menu and a water. you just don't leave someone sitting at the bar with their thumb up their "you know what". Since moving to Melbourne we have been to this Woody's location 3 times. The service we have received has been outstanding. The staff is courteous, friendly, and fast. My tea never runs out!! We have ordered numerous items off the menu but our favorites are the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich, Texas Beef Brisket, Woody's Famous BBQ salad, and the kids Sloppy Joe. Oh and the ranch dressing they serve is addictive!!! The only issue I have ever had is with the chicken wings as an appetizer being cooked to order. I prefer super crunchy wings but they never fry them enough and I always have to send them back to be fried again, even though I make the request upfront. I've have been coming to this restaurant for over ten years. Usually the food is perfect but on this visit it was not. I ordered takeout 9-5-21, 3 orders of baby back rib dinners. All three rib racks were over cooked/dry with burnt segments. Not sure if it was because of the holiday weekend or the sign that stated they were short staffed. It's a pretty generic looking spot tucked in a corner of a shopping plaza. The food is a good value for the amount, but average quality at best. My dad and I comfortably split the "taste of Woody's" plate, with four different kinds of meat: a few ribs, chicken, brisket (?), and turkey. The ribs were tough, chicken was passable, brisket was overcooked, and turkey like it came from a grocery-bought packet. I ordered a side of vegetables, and it was a sad serving of green beans drowning in gravy. The sides included with our plate were a gluey mound of mashed potatoes and french fries. My uncle's order of a pulled pork sandwich looked like a much better option. Beer was incredibly cheap at $8/pitcher, so we went for it. The hostess and our server were quick and attentive, checking on us often, although more people trickled in and made our area quite busy. Woodys was a great experience. The fried okra is nice, albeit a little unseasoned. I enjoyed the creamed corn and the coleslaw was fresh as well. Coming from the south, I have exceptionally high standards for barbecue. I really enjoyed the different spicy and sweet barbecue sauces they have on their tables but the meat was a miss for me. Brisket wasn't tender enough and had a chewy texture. I didn't dig the barbecue chicken. It wasn't juicy enough. I will definitely give the place another try but Woodys definitely isn't the best barbecue I've had. read more

The sweet tea tasted like someone allergic to sugar made it, their ranch was watered down, and the barbecue is about as exciting as the rest of the place. I chose this place because I wanted BBQ and slaw for lunch and it was walking distance from my hotel. BBQ was very dry and had many hard outside pieces in it. I ordered slaw as both of my side items and it came in a soup bowl with a spoon and tasted like it was from a shelf at a grocery store. No Mac and cheese, no turnip greens offered as sides.My waiter never came back after delivering my order. Empty tea glass, no check until I asked another server for it then he still never came so I asked for him at the counter the register. Never offered tea to go horrible service .
