Me and my family came here for a little getaway trip and let me just say, we had so much fun. This place is such a vibe. Seeing the animals that close was honestly an experience I'll never forget. The rhinos were right outside our back patio area where we could watch them from a distance. Obviously there were safety barriers between our townhouse-style villa and another barrier around the animal enclosure itself, but it still felt amazing being able to see them so close. The place we stayed in was super spacious. It was more like a private little townhouse/villa setup rather than a regular hotel room. There are multiple villas throughout the property depending on the size of your group. Ours was a two-bedroom, three-bed villa with huge restrooms, amazing water pressure, and beautiful backyard views overlooking the rhino enclosure. My cousin mentioned that some of the other villas also overlook the giraffes, but ours mainly had views of the rhinos which was still such an amazing experience. One thing I really loved was how interactive and educational the experience was. The staff was very friendly, informative, and clearly cared a lot about the animals. They explained where many of the animals came from, safety precautions, and how to properly interact with them respectfully. For example, with the giraffes they explained not to stand too close to their neck or face while feeding them because if they turn suddenly you could fall over. With the rhinos, the staff explained that their eyesight is limited, so we had to approach them slowly and talk to them so they knew we were there. There's a barricade setup with small openings where the rhinos pop their heads through while eating. As guests, we slowly walked alongside the barricade while talking to them until we reached their forehead area where we were allowed to gently pet them. It was honestly such a cool and unique experience being able to interact with them that closely while still keeping everything safe for both the animals and guests. The animal activities were honestly one of the best parts. We got to feed the giraffes and even the sloth which was such a cool experience. The giraffes also got to "paint" on a canvas using this really interesting paintbrush contraption. One person would hold the canvas while another person held the paintbrush setup near the giraffe's face, and the giraffe would push and move the brush around the canvas creating its own little painting. It was definitely a two-person job and such a unique experience to watch. There was also another activity where the rhinos helped create paintings. They put non-toxic, animal-safe paint on the side of the rhino's leg and you press the canvas against it to create a little portrait to take home as a memory. Upon arrival they provided little breakfast/snack items for our stay like oatmeal, waffles, orange juice, and protein bars. They also let us choose between cider and bottled water which was a nice touch. The entire property feels peaceful, hidden, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Just keep in mind that restaurants and stores are about 30 minutes away, and it gets VERY dark at night since the property is more secluded. We personally went out to eat and explore, but you could also order DoorDash if you wanted to stay in and relax at the property. Overall, my whole experience here was amazing. I love animals, so being able to enjoy something this unique with my mom, aunt, and cousin made it even more special. Definitely something different, relaxing, and memorable. I would absolutely recommend staying at Longneck Manor if you want a unique getaway experience in Texas. read more

Fabulous 1.5-hour tour meeting Justin the rhino and family of giraffes. The facility is top notch, and you can tell the staff love the animals. Our tour guide Noah was so much fun and informative. Lots of educational information is provided as well as hands on feeding and photos. The gift shop is super cute, and t shirts are fab. Purchased three, washed and so soft. It was hot and windy but plenty of shade. Bring water and a hat. Well worth the admission price as part of the money goes to the conservation. And best of all, small groups. It's been my dream to come to Longneck Manor and see the giraffes. It is tucked in the pastures outside downtown Fredericksburg. We spent a lot more time with seeing rhinos than the giraffes. Longneck currently has 3 rhinos and 9 giraffes (2 are babies!). I got to pet a rhino, even touch his horn! I got to feed various giraffes. You cannot pet giraffes though. With the amount of animals you can interact with, it's worth the visit and cost. The grounds are beautiful as well! You can see the animals when you park. read more

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Anniversary Experience at Longneck Manor My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Longneck Manor, and I can honestly say it was one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. My wife loves giraffes, so this was the perfect way to mark such a special milestone. I had booked the suite nearly a year in advance, and from the moment we pulled into the beautifully maintained property, we knew it was going to be special. Even before checking in, we were greeted by the sight of the majestic giraffes, it felt as though they knew we had come just for them. The suite itself exceeded our expectations. While the photos online were impressive, they couldn't do justice to how cozy and well-thought-out the space really was. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to prepare a meal, complete with a coffee maker, French press pods, and ground coffee, a thoughtful touch for coffee lovers like us. The bathroom was modern with a spacious walk in shower, and the bedroom was outfitted with a supremely comfortable bed, high quality sheets, and pillows. The best part? Three large windows overlooking the giraffe barn, where we could watch these incredible animals throughout the day. At 3:30 p.m., we joined the "toast to the tower" (a fitting name for a group of giraffes), raising our glasses in appreciation for the privilege of sharing space with them. Stepping onto the deck to hand-feed the giraffes was nothing short of magical, an intimate and joyful experience. That evening, on our way to dinner in town, we marveled at the deer along the property's drive, a serene reminder to slow down and soak it all in. Later, we decided to grab groceries so we could cook and spend even more time enjoying the suite and the views. The next morning, a beautifully prepared breakfast basket was delivered right to our door, and at 9 a.m. sharp we met our tour guide, Jess. She was outstanding, knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about her work. She described Longneck Manor as "like a big family," and it shows. With Jess, we not only deepened our appreciation for the giraffes, but we also fell in love with the rhinos. Getting to pet them, paint on them, and give them belly scratches was unexpectedly one of the highlights of our trip. Their unique personalities shined, and Jess's genuine love for them was contagious. We were also introduced to Bruno the sloth, who stole our hearts as well. Feeding him while Jess shared his daily routines, what she lovingly called "living his best life", was both fun and educational. Every moment felt thoughtfully planned yet relaxed, giving us time to fully enjoy the animals and the atmosphere. Back at the suite, we cooked dinner while watching the giraffes through our windows, an experience that felt surreal and deeply peaceful. Sitting with my wife at the dining table, sharing a meal while gazing out at the giraffes, was a memory I will carry forever. The most meaningful moment for me came when my wife said this was the best experience she's ever had. That alone made it worth every penny, but what made it even more special was knowing that our stay directly supports not only the animals at Longneck Manor but also conservation efforts in Africa. Rick, the owner, has poured his heart and soul into this place, and it's clear in every detail. The animals are loved and well cared for, and the staff go above and beyond to make sure guests have an exceptional experience. We are already talking about when we can return. Amazing experience! We didn't stay here but we came for a visit. It was great. Totally worth the drive from Austin. We got to meet and pet Justin, the Rhino. Then we got to feed 3 giraffes. These animals are so beautiful! If you go later in 2024, you will also get to meet a sloth. The guides were great about taking pictures, they will get all the angles! The facility is 2 years old and looks so comfy and cozy. We had a group of about 12 and the ages ranged from 80 to 4. Everyone had plenty of time to interact and take pictures. We learned a lot about the animals, where they came from and how this facility works with others to help with conservation. read more

Longneck Manor was a fun and interactive experience, especially feeding the giraffes and rhinoceroses! So glad we peeled ourselves from our group before the winery visits for this tour - totally worth the 90 minutes! The tour started on time and was very informative, giving us ample time to feed & interact with the animals. It is worth noting that it's about a 7-mile drive from downtown Fredericksburg, so plan accordingly but it's worth it for the chance to hang out with the animals and learn from the friendly, well-informed team. I do wish there was a restaurant or refreshments option available; it would have been nice to relax in the lobby area before or after our tour. Overall, a great experience! read more

My husband visited Longneck Manor when we were in the area a few weeks and had a great experience. What is it? Longneck Manor is a conservation agency that houses giraffes and rhinos just outside Fredericksburg. They are a luxury hotel/B&B (if you stay, you can wake up and see giraffes from your cabin). But they also offer conservation tours where their staff will teach you about the animals they care for. (I learned a lot about both rhinos are giraffes from our Noel and Chloe, the staff for our tour!) You can safely touch a rhino (Barney was the rhino for our tour) and feed the giraffes (from a short distance away on a platform, but directly onto their tongues). This was a really amazing experience, and it seemed as if the staff really cared about the safety and comfort of the animals as well as of their guests. I hope that people who visit Longneck Manor take the experience at Longneck Manor to learn about the dangers that face these animals in the wild and become inspired to help in a way possible for them. That's what the experience did for me. This is a really unique experience to have in Central Texas! And the money you spend at Longneck Manor goes to support these animals and conversation efforts worldwide. Staying in the beautiful giraffe suite got us private tours throughout the day! From meeting all the caretakers I can tell they truly love all the animals and have a special bond with them! The groups are limited so you get a more intimate, specialized visit around the area. They only had the giraffes and rhinos at the time, but upon talking to the owner, I learned that he was planning to add more animals to the place. This place was just AMAZING. The workers here are so knowledgeable and you can tell how much they care for these animals. Usually I am not a fan of supporting places where the animals are "trapped" but this place was very educational and the animals are well taken care of. They even live longer here than in the wild so that's really awesome! The 2 girls working here (ahhh, i forgot their names) were awesome. They taught our group so much about rhinos and giraffes! The tour is an hour and a half and i was really just expecting a walk thru of some sort. Maybe getting to pet them or something but was def not expecting the amount of information we received during this tour!! Extremely interesting, my 10 year old loved it. It was small group, just 10 of us which was a great number. Not too crowded and everyone got a chance to be a part of everything without having to rush. The property is extremely clean, the office area, the restroom, the areas for the animals, the barn area, very very clean. It didnt even smell like animals! There are 3 giraffes and 3 rhinos here at Long Neck Manor. We got to pet Justin, the big rhino and boy was he a sweetie. I am a total rhino lover now. And you will not believe how soft his skin is!!!! No joke! His face skin is so soft, he guarantee has a great skin care routine haha!! His body area is rough but i was definitely surprised at how soft his face and the area by his legs were. We didnt get to pet the giraffes but we did get to feed them! After spending some time outside with the rhinos and the 2 giraffes, they took us inside the barn area to see the pregnant giraffe whose name is Betty White!! Yes! After the actress! So, Betty was due to give birth pretty much any day now and i was really hoping it would be in the next hour or so while we were there but it did not happen. But she was so cute! We got to go on the top floor so Betty didnt have to bend down like the other 2 giraffes to get their food so it was really cool to see how tall she was! Lots of opportunities to take photos with these incredible animals so you can have these pics to remember what a great time you had here! There is a gift shop inside the office where you can even buy paintings that the animals did. Booking this experience is super easy. Just go online and choose the day and time you want to go. There are 2 tours a day. If you are lucky enough, you can even book the giraffe suite to stay in!! They are pretty booked into 2024 but you can find a random day here and there if you keep checking. We visited this business back in February and wow what a dopamine booster. We were able to meet and pet one of their Rhinos and feed 3 gorgeous giraffes, two females and one male. At the time we went they were thinking one of the females was pregnant. You can also rent a room here that has a view of the giraffe nighttime quarters and small doors you can use to feed the giraffes while staying in the room. However, when we visited it was booked through 2023. The tour alone is a joy to experience. Part of the proceeds go to preservation efforts. One of the best vacations I've ever had. We stayed two nights in the Simba villa. To wake up and have rhinos and giraffes outside your room is really incredible. To see these animals freely grazing on so many acres, to see them up close, and be able to feed and pet them is as close to safari as it gets. it's nothing like a zoo; they're just not comparable experiences. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgable, the experience is intimate as there are only 5 villas, the villas are very big and first class, and this is a 5013c so your money is going to a great cause (conservation and species reproduction). You're only 10 minutes from Main St Fredricksburg which is full of restaurants. We're lucky to have this place in Texas. read more

This is well worth the drive if you are visiting the Austin area. As others have commented, the group size is small (ours was only six) so you get a personalized experience. We were able to pet a rhino and learn lots of fun facts and also feed the giraffes - all of which make for great pictures which the staff were more than willing to take. This is a great place for people of all ages. If you have the funds, you can also stay overnight in a suite where you can feed the giraffes from your lodging. They are building other lodging there as well. They seem to really care about the animals and have good intentions. Definitely recommend! read more
