Wow. This is without a doubt the greatest thing Brantford has to offer. Open 24/7 in the downtown core, saying "Lonnies" immediately brings everyone together in salivating poutine lust, north end yuppies and crusty rodeo patrons alike. Their menu seems to change a lot, most of it being some kind of classic grub food, but they always have a few pretty bizarre things to try. Chocolate covered bacon (or peppers), deep-fried pickles (which are apparently not so new or strange, anywhere else in the province), brownies covered in whipped cream covered in gummy worms covered in.. etc. Really though the main thing to get here is the poutine; in addition to their regular variety (which comes in 3 sizes, all of which could feed your family for a month) they have about a dozen variants. Off the top of my head, there are.. meatlovers, vegetarian, mexican, taco, Canadian (maple syrup and bacon), breakfast, and probably many many more by now. Seating is pretty tightly packed, they work with what they've got. The staff are all fairly strange (in the best kind of way) and have a pretty well enforced "No Bullshit" policy which is truly awesome to see put in practice. Great people though. Brian (the owner / manager) drove me and my poutine home through a pretty heavy storm one night at his offer. A great place run by awesome people. Aside from the poutine, some other things I grew to love before moving out of the city: Veggie Burritos - Around $3, absolutely massive and stuffed however you want. Chili Cheese Dog - Massive. Greasy. Cheesy. Godly. Bacon Cheese Dog - Slightly less intimidating as the above, equally as godlike. Peanut-Butter Brownie - Giant slab of brownie covered in white fondant, chocolate sauce and peanut butter. So many memories..

Check out the buffalo chicken poutine...... Smoking "hot" is the best way to describe the dish!

My favourite is the Pulled Pork Poutine, if you haven't tried it then you're missing out!

I come here frequently, and I have to say it's one of the best poutine places around. Amazing variety of poutines, and is usually open 24/7. It's such a hidden gem to find. My personal favourite is the pulled pork poutine, definitely the best poutine on the list!

Staff was pretty funny and welcoming but on phone they are a bit moody, the foods good and the prices is well worth it!

So, not a big reviewer so take it for what's it worth…read more We've been going to Zander's for quite a few years now, mostly for wing night, but not exclusively, last night for example. (But I still got wings ) Over the years it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. At times, there's no place better in the city and at other times it's rather lack luster, just living on current reputation. Then at some point, the manager who seems to speak to everyone in the restaurant, but seems to not even recognize us, he realizes this and begins to turn things around. Currently we seem to be in a low spot, and here's why I think this. Mainly it's due to high turnover of staff. It seems there are new servers in week to week (probably not that frequently, but it seems that way). We remember seeing the same proficient servers week after week, now they're mostly all gone. The tall skinnier older guy (sorry I can't remember your name) is AMAZING and we hope for him every time. Sadly, we're left with the "new girl" and the service that comes with a new employee. It's an assumption that the staff just aren't treated well and that's why they leave, but could just be the restaurant industry. Lastly, food preparation has fallen below their norm. I ask for my hot Buffalo wings to be extra saucy and they NEVER are and the response I get is, the chicken wings absorbs too much of it. I ask for my wings extra saucy EVERYWHERE I go, no place else has a problem hitting the mark here. I also don't think whoever is cooking the food is tasting the food, these wings are NOT hot by any standards, I can say this because I eat a lot of chicken wings and a lot of hot wings are too spicy for me, these don't even reach medium temps. Nevertheless, the wings are tasty and I like them. Lastly, we often attend with a couple friends and one of them orders their wings extra crispy, when this happens, I too get my wings extra crispy, I don't particularly enjoy extra crispy wings :( Anyway, we're gonna stay away for a while I think and head over to Kelsey's, it's less convenient but has been far more consistent over time. Like I said, I'm not an expert here, so please make your own decisions, I just want the old Zander's back.
