Went to Dr Brown with bad sciatica pain along with some mid back issues. Dr Brown used the drop…read moretable method and activator to help relieve the pain. I have been going for a few months now and my mid back pain is gone and my sciatica pain has almost subsided. I have been going to chiropractors since the mid 80s and I think Dr Brown is one of the best out there. very personalized visits and staff is excellent and personable.

Extremely disappointed with how I was treated by this office…read more I originally had an appointment on September 4 that I had to reschedule because I was sick and had been hospitalized. I spoke with the secretary and was given a new appointment for September 17 at 4:30 PM. I wrote the appointment down in TWO separate calendars and also have text messages related to my scheduling. When the day of my appointment came, I was suddenly told that I had no appointment and that another appointment had never been made. Instead of anyone taking the time to investigate what may have happened with the scheduling, I felt as though the responsibility was immediately placed on me. I then tried to resolve the situation and schedule another appointment. I explained that I normally need later appointments because of my work schedule, but when morning appointments were offered, I agreed that I could make September 28 work. Dr. Brown then told me to call back the following week to make sure I could "commit" to the appointment. That comment was incredibly upsetting because I had already explained that my original appointment had to be changed because I was ill and hospitalized. I also specifically asked the secretary whether I had previously been marked as a no-show and was told no, only to then receive conflicting information from Dr. Brown indicating that I had. When I called the office back because I was upset and wanted clarification, at one point the line appeared to become unattended and it sounded as though the phone had been put down while I was trying to speak. Mistakes happen. An appointment being entered incorrectly could have been resolved with an apology, a review of what happened, and an attempt to accommodate the patient. What upset me most was how the situation was handled afterward. I felt dismissed and treated as though I was unreliable when I was actively trying to resolve the problem and continue my care. I left this experience extremely upset. Patients should be able to expect accurate scheduling, consistent information about their appointment history, and respectful communication when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Physical therapy needs attention. I recently went for an evaluation for PT. I have family members…read morewho have had positive experience with the Chiropractor and one of the PT workers (younger male). Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. The afternoon PT worker was more interested in pushing his MLM that helping me with my treatment. At one point he took my number, I assumed it was for appointments purposes. Odd because the front desk has my contact information. Turns out it was to send me a video to push a "miracle oil". I decided not to return and to elsewhere. Best thing I ever did. The new practice was wonderful. We did a number of exercises, gave me a workout plan for home, discussed what to look for with footwear and suggested adaptive equipment my insurance would cover. What a difference! I feel sad that people come for help and they are being pushed a product. People who need PT are vulnerable, often elderly or young kids on sports teams. They need help getting back to their normal activities. It wasn't professional or at all ethical.

She is the best and her massages make me feel so much better. Also, the front desk is very welcoming and are very nice. Fast at answering their phones and booking you an appointment! Appreciate what everyone does here.

Over 50? You need your preventive maintenance at Balance Rolfing!…read more I've been working with Richard since I moved to the Hudson Valley more than a year ago. I'm a long time rolfing proponent; rolfing is deep work, and I credit it with relieving two long-time sports injuries that I have suffered sporadically for more than 25 years (ex-Rugby player). I now see Richard a few times a year for regular tune-ups which pay off in preventing neck and back pain as I am a "knowlege worker" who spends a lot of time in front of a monitor. I also do a lot of biking and hiking. Richard is extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful about the the human body and will spend time understanding your particular structure before he begins his work. He embodies the care, skill and thoughtfulness of the best rolfers.

After many months of neck pain, I finally experience relief! What a interesting feeling to work…read morewithout that constant pain. I'm very thankful for Richard and his knowledge and work. My experience started after dissatisfaction with progress at the chiropractor. My neck pain was not getting better, the chiropractor kept telling me to come back and if I didn't come he blamed my pain on not being there. I wasn't too sure... I contacted Richard after my pregnant wife had work done by him after slipping on ice and hurting her hip. After rearranging my appointment with him a couple of times because of my work, I met him at his Red Hook location. I met him in a clean, well-stocked office/gym which he rents once a week. Richard was friendly and put me at ease. After initial paperwork, we got started. Richard asked many questions about my neck issue, discussed work habits and a possible incident that could have contributed, and carefully considered my answers. He watched me walk around the office and then I got on the table. Apparently, Rolfing is about working on the fascia in the muscles, the tough stringy stuff in a steak that isn't fat but isn't meat. Richard used very long manipulations, like 45 seconds, to assess and move different parts of my neck. He made sure I wasn't in too much pain but was definitely directing a great deal of strength. I was really impressed with Richards knowledge, intuition and observational skills. He assessed and worked on my neck, where I thought the issue was, but also worked on my upper ribs and told me about how much each part of the system influences the other parts and how everything is connected. For 2 days after my session, which lasted more than an hour and a half, my neck was aggravated, something was different and felt worse but different... I was a little worried but also felt like maybe I had been through something significant and my body/neck was recovering from the event. It was true. It had been a big event, the aggravation went away, and now my neck feels better. After many months and visits to the chiropractor, the work that Richard did was significant. It's been two weeks, and wow. I'm really glad I went. I still feel thankful that Richard listened to me, didn't tell me what he thought happened but kept asking questions until he understood as fully as possible based on what I said. I didn't feel Richard presumed or pre judged or jumped in to add to or finish my story. And he really paid attention to what he felt from my body. He was thinking deeply the whole time. I was really impressed. So.... If you have an issue, whether chronic or injury related, I recommend talking to Richard and getting him to work on you.
