Yes, it's a pandemic. Yes, I'm grateful I was able to order Chinese food and have it delivered. The above reasons do not excuse the quality and preparation of the food. The scallion pancakes were awful. The crab rangoon was awful. The soup dumplings were awful. The sesame chicken was awful. The beef and broccoli was awful. The spare ribs were awful. Everything was greasy and lacking flavor. Nothing appeared to be made in house. All of the meat was chewy and tough. I just ripped up $130. Now I need dinner. I advise you try a different restaurant. read more

On Christmas Day we ordered from here. Website said 30 minutes for pick up, placed the order... a screen popped up and said your order will be ready at 6:49pm, I ordered at 5:19pm. I figured there was a line out the door, wrong... at 6:30 when I arrived, there were empty tables, and no one waited to pick up food and 3 bags behind the table. When I got the food home it was not even hot. The smallest container of rice I have ever seen, and no soy sauce packets just 3 fortune cookies. The food was not at all tasty, thank god I had soy sauce at home, we will not be going back here. Very sad indeed. read more

This is a small tidy place with cheerful and courteous service. I have eaten in and ordered for delivery. I have mostly eaten Chinese, but this week tried a Japanese lunch bento.Delicious.,.sautéed veggies under my salmon, piping hot miso soup. I ended up going here and getting take out. The food was better than I expected. I ordered tofu with vegetables and brown rice. It was tasted super fresh. Chinese food can be a disappointment when it's super greasy and doesn't taste fresh but this was very good. I would definitely visit again. The staff was also very nice. While we waited outside for the order to be finished, the girl who took our order brought it out to us. The order took less than 15 mins so it was fast. read more

We were so disappointed when Golden Dynasty in Hillsdale closed permanently. We wanted to try a new Chinese place in Bergen County so we tried Look See for the first time. Let's just say we are going to keep looking. When we first called to place our order we were told they didn't have half of the things we were ordering straight from their menu. We came here for lunch on a Saturday just after noon and were the only table there for a while. I guess we were just early, because other tables were seated soon after we arrived. The food was decent, but nothing stand out. The "Transparent Fish" was interesting, but on the bland side. The others in my group had sesame chicken, which was as good as anywhere else, I was told. Service was OK, but more attention would have been better especially since we were the only table at first, and one of three as we were finishing up. Ordered lunch for 13 delivered to the office. Bags were over packed, causing containers on the bottom to pop open from the weight. There was soup and sauce soaking the bottom of several bags. Excellent, flavorful food. Such a variety of delicious dishes, each with its own unique taste. Portion size is impressive when you compare to others in the area. Our favorites are Szechuan water dumplings, Spicy Tang Chicken, Mongolian beef, Crispy sautéed fish. A great place both for lunch (they have a special lunch set) and dinner. read more

We were pleased to locate Look See's new location! When we travel through Northern New Jersey, it has been a favorite place to stop, even tho' the interior had gotten shabby. We like the modern look at the new location, the same great food, and friendly good service. Update: After our disastrous experience here soon after they moved to the new location we gave up and hadn't been back for several years. We've recently been back twice and had wonderful meals and amazing service each time. We have only had Chinese dishes and we have thought all we've had tasty and fresh. Soups were well flavored with delicious broths. Vegetables were cooked perfectly with just a bit of snap. The addition of asparagus to a pan fried noodle dish was inspired. Meats and seafood were cooked perfectly. Tea and water flowed freely. Peking duck was superb. Really happy we went back. Looking forward to working our way through the menu. The old Look See is back! Maybe it never left and we just had some bad luck with our visits back when I first reviewed. I did notice a change to the lunch menu- less is included now with an entree - but that's not going to stop me from grabbing lunch here. Great to have sit down Chinese close to home. read more

Food is on point. It's standard Chinese American food. I've ordered the usual General Tso's Chicken and Chicken and Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. I've tried two places in the Mahwah/Ramsey area and Look See stood out from the other place. Maybe because one was mainly a cheaper takeout place and Look See is more fine dining. We figured we'd give Look See another try as it's been a very long time since we've eaten there and we're excited that they deliver. After eating the food, we know why we stopped eating there. First of all, they had our address wrong even though we placed the order online. When we unpacked the order, two items were missing. We spent about one hour trying to call, but the line busy. When I finally got through, a weird recording came on. The food was mediocre. The steamed vegetable dumplings were barely filled with spinach that tasted freezer burned. The "healthy" general tso's chicken wasn't healthy. Still coated with flour and then some orange unidentifiable sauce was put on top. The other two items, pork with green beans and beef with broccoli were glistening with tasteless sauce. Even the noodles (for our soup we didn't receive) and the fortune cookies were pitiful. I took my family of 5 tonight for the first time. I originally skipped this place because of the weak reviews, but I'm glad I gave it a try. Peking duck 5/5, soup dumplings 4/5, crispy beef 5/5, pan fried noodles 4/5, eggplant in garlic sauce 5/5, service and cleanliness 5/5. I'm very happy I gave this place a try. It is underrated. The food is very good when compared to other options in the area and their portions are generous. I over-ordered, but will make a good lunch tomorrow. Please note that I am only rating them on their Chinese food. Never tried their sushi and don't really plan to. I only get sushi at Masa and Moshi Moshi. read more

So today at the office I was craving sushi, so that made my lunch decision easy. Only thing is I'm not familiar with the area so I used Yelp to check out some nearby spots. I came across Look See and they offered some great lunch specials so I went for it . I called and ordered on the phone for pickup, I ordered the maki lunch special with two rolls (spicy tuna & spicy salmon) it also came with miso soup and salad. They also have a check in offer for a free Thai iced tea with a lunch purchase and if you pay with cash you get 5% off your total.When I arrived I showed my phone to get the offer and the women at the register said she doesn't know anything about an offer, so she went to check with her manager. When she came back she said the yelp "check in" is only valid is you write a good review on yelp. Which is bizarre and not true at all, the deal is if you check in not write a review. Also you can not tell people to write a "good" review about your business, if you provide good service and quality food then the good reviews will come flooding in! So here goes my review, though I am not sure if it will fall in the "good" category lol. Back to the food, the miso soup was bland and salad is salad, but the rolls were quite yummy, fresh and nicely rolled. Overall, the food was okay and the experience was subpar. read more

Almost far and wide one of the better Asian Chinese restaurants in Northern Bergen County, TS Ma is probably the best. Dishes here are expertly prepared, authentic, not greasy and exactly what you'd expect. I have been a customer of theirs for years, and the food has always been good and the service fine. Today I ordered and it said two hour wait time. It was early in the evening so I figured ok. Then when the food was not here in 2 1/2 hours I called. They asked me to wait another 40 min and then pick it up. It is now 9:00. So had I known they were not truthful about the delivery time I would have ordered elsewhere. But the worst part is the girl who answered the phone had no sense that a normal person does not want to eat dinner at 9 and wait 3 hours for the meal and the manager would not talk to me. So they are totally dishonest when it comes to telling you delivery times, have no respect that they have inconvenienced you, and don't seem to care. So if you want an honest good meal avoid them. Look See has been in Ramsey for ages. When they closed down, I was a little saddened. However, they reopened across Rt 17 bringing a smile to my face. Their preparation of traditional dishes is superb. Their Peking Duck entree was fabulous, as was the Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. Our server Shawnie was fantastic, the service was great and the meals we had were top-notch. Ignore the complainers, you can not please all the people in the world, there are always some nay-sayers. Loved Look See at the old location for many years. They must have sold the name because the food at this new location bordered on inedible tonight. The dumplings are heavy with thick skins, the MaBo Bean Curd was so gelatinous that it could have been jello and you would not have known the difference. Several days before my dinner party I placed a nearly $200 order online to be delivered between 6:15-6:30 on a Friday night. It was delivered on time, hot, and complete. Three appetizers, white and brown rice, pan fried noodles with vegetables, five entrees (scallops, shrimp, beef, chicken and pork each with different vegetables) plus two additional orders of vegetables (long broccoli and spinach). I added extra protein to each entree. The sauces and mustard were included as were fortune cookies. It was truly a feast. Delicious. If I had to fault one thing, the scallops needed another minute or two to be fully cooked. All I had to do was make the tea. We were Look See fans before this delivery order...but had always eaten in the restaurant before whether for lunch or for dinner. read more

We gave Look See another try after some years of not going there after going downhill at the Mahwah location. It was a little disappointing. Service was dotted. Eggrolls were a take out grade, soup was bland. I dined with a friend who's main dish was brought out a long time apart from when I first received mine, when we asked why they said, "well, kitchen very busy." Wow. You don't serve guests eating together in that way and they know it, also the food was mediocre and nothing eventful at all. I won't be seeking out going back there anytime soon. Stopped here a few times. Usually don't like going to sushi Chinese restaurants. I prefer to go to one or the other. Both cuisines are done well here. Nothing exceptional but definitely enjoyable. If your ordering rolls here I would recommend the "Mahwah" roll. I've tried more than a few in my past few visits but this one stood out the most. Service is friendly but always seems their short on help. Never like waiting or looking for a waiter and it's happened here twice out of the 3 or 4 times I visited.
