Too many pizza places in the area, and this one stands out! The vodka sauce is perfectly balanced; the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. Pizza is "really good", according to my teenage kid. That's saying a lot, when the comments list are "ok", "good" or "meh". We also had meatballs and ricotta which didn't make it to the post because it was gone before I had the chance to take a pic. A few people have been telling us about this place and we decided to take a little ride to go check it out. We armed ourselves with our bottles of wine and we were ready for a great meal.. It's a small place, but it's decorated nicely and tastefully. My only issue was it was extremely cold in there. I get it that the people are making the pizza get very hot, but it was kind of uncomfortable and I had to keep taking my coat on and off. But that literally it was the only negative. We started with the arugula salad, which was absolutely delicious. Very fresh and crisp. The cheese on it was amazing. You could tell it was high-quality and we loved the sun-dried tomatoes. We then moved onto mussels in a red sauce they were very good. They were not stringy. They were not dry. The sauce was delicious but I would've said go a little bit later on the onions next time, but overall, it was very tasty. The pizza was definitely the stand out here. It came out much bigger than we thought it was gonna be and we usually are able to finish a whole thin crust pizza but we just couldn't do it. This time. The crust was cooked perfectly. Their sauce is absolutely delicious. I felt like I was eating my own families sauce. That's how homemade it tasted. We got black olives on it and I love the way that they were. It wasn't overloaded. They weren't wet and I have to say I don't know where they got their basil from but the taste was incredible. I do want to add that I found myself staring at the gentleman that were actually kneading the pizza dough... I am right from Italy and I felt like I was transported back home the attention that he was paying to the Joe it was definitely watching an art We will definitely be back here. Sandwiches so disappointing!!!! After going for dinner, we decided to get sandwiches as take out. Meatball had too much oregano for my taste. Not enough sauce so sandwich was dry, a scant amount of cheese. Sausage and pepper hero was pretty good. Sauasage was tasty. Chicken Parm was awful!!! A few, very thin, slices of chicken so over-done it was tough and hard to chew. Again, not enough sauce and scant amount of cheese. Its not parm! Eggplant Parm was just okay. Eggplant was plentiful but dry, same problem not enough sauce and barely any cheese. Only item that is consistently good is eggplant rollatini. We are done with Favale's. Now they do have a ton of Italian dishes, which always look great when I see them around the restaurant, but we have only ever gone for the pizza here. Pepperoni and Sausage pies are incredible but the plain pie may be even better! Depends on your mood. Wings are THE BEST. Chicken Parm is phenomenal and I can't wait to try the Salmon dish on our next visit. We are pretty much going every week it is so good. Service and Atmosphere are also excellent. BYOB is also huge. Favale's you dirty dawgs. You done made a new fan. And an important one at that if I must say so myself. (P.S. I must). I was down bad a desperate day - or - month ago. I needed some comfort in the midday to distract me from my despair. Like a lonely bear in the British Columbian forests, I wandered around with my heavy feet, and heavy heart. Looking to fill the empty and underutilized spaces of my chest and my mind. Looking to fill it with something that would rev me up. Salmon and Honey, like a bear in the wild? Or shall I go more figurative than literal bear... I thought to myself. I needed something to carry me over, AND to lift me up. Physical and mental... I'd take care of the rest. Lunch specials from the area's hotspots all rolled through me begging for me to order. But I needed something new, and just like that it slapped me on the rum and rubbed me on my tum. I knew I needed to get me some. A personal pie from a particularly picked and placed pizzeria, and I had recently been recommended to this shop so I gave it it's deserved try. Firstly, wonderfully priced personal pie... could get this everyday if I wanted to. Nice choices of toppings and ya can fill just 1/2 of the pie if you please. It's a smaller personal, but it makes it feel that much more personal. Sauce check. Passed those vibes. I love me a sweet sauce. - It brings me back to stirring up those tomatoes on a hot August Day. Wooden spatulas running around the edge-less and endless large pots, moving that defiantly bold red liquid to keep it from darkening. And those same wooden spatulas had done many a meet a greet with misbehaved bottoms of belligerent bambini. Mine being one of them. - Anyways... Cheese that'll bring you to your knees. Lovely light and feathery (yet) a doughy and chewy undercarriage. Cooked to get a minor char but what it really does it appeal the eyes. Indirectly stimulates the nostrils. STAY AWAY! Favale's is an overpriced joke. The food, service, and physical space all speak to pathetic and ineffective management. Pizza: The draw of the restaurant and the reason to pay almost $30 per pizza, for mediocre standard supermarket quality items, is coal oven. The kid working the coal oven was more interested in pounding Saratoga sparking waters and watching the NJ Devil's on TV than in preparing the pizza. Aside from preparing food without gloves and a hat, the pizza's were all colorless (ie no coal charring on the bottom, crust, or tops), flavorless (and I mean tasteless and boring despite the toppings), and floppy. Service: To add another level of horrendous to the experience was the service. What a joke. The waitress was rude and uncaring. She was certainly not trained in hospitality. She was unavailable and uninterested. Management has certainly never explained the sequence of service. She is also unaware of the products the restaurant serves, from drink to food. In a typical unprofessional and unmanaged restaurant full of kids, I could hear her complain throughout the night about her tips to other employees. She sneezed on her hands and proceeded to touch food, computers, and serve without washing or sanitizing them. The service was as off putting as the cost of terrible pizza. With 4 staff members visible in the dining room, and at least 2 more walking in and out from the kitchen, the music shut off. Not one turned it back on for the reminder of our meal. Physical restaurant: From the outside, it looked dark and empty. Of course, the glass doors looked like they hadn't been Windexed in months. We walked in, and the place was so bright my father needed sunglasses. It was also upwards of 84s degrees. I measured it with my phone. The fans were off, and the doors were closed. Perhaps that's because of the fly problem. Flies attacked our pizza the entire night. Chemicals were visible everywhere, and hanging rags were dripping on the floor after being used to wipe tables. Don't they need to be stored in a sanitizing solution? Set up a proper station for the staff. Where is the management? Have they every worked in a restaurant? For $30 a pizza, they could build out some inexpensive infrastructure to house the cleaning products, etc. It would also free up the table they were using as a desk in the dining room. Towards the end of the night, the pizza cook starting cleaning and spraying chemical products everywhere. Eating my floppy, tasteless, and colorless pizza was improved by the smell of toxic chemicals bouncing off of the pizza station to our table. Just kidding. It was not an improvement. My father and I started choking. I was done eating at that point. My father opted not to get the dessert he had planned on getting since we left our house. After taking a long time to get the waitress for our check, we finally headed out. In the lobby on the way out, the automictic hand sanitizer dispenser was empty. I never checked the restroom, but I would imagine they were just as filthy as the service and dining room. In sum: The hanging pictures of Grimaldi's and Patsy's on the wall do not serve to place Favale's on the same plane as pizza royalty. They instead taunt the diner with thoughts of actually delicious pizza. Favale's pizza, people, and physical plant are all missing any management at all. The owners should be embarrassed and upset. Reach out. I would be happy to help turn your place around. That oven is so precious, and your place could be an efficient, delicious, and friendly money machine. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. EXPENSIVE AND GROSS. STAY AWAY. Management is on a permanent vacation. read more

I went to Favale's Trattoria for dinner. I got the Mussels for an appetizer ($12), which were small in terms of individual mussel size, but a decent portion. My main order was a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage, ricotta cheese, and eggplant. I could actually see the guy making the pizza from scratch in the restaurant, and the pizza definitely tasted high quality. The pizza was cooked just enough so that the cheese was a bit melted and the crust was firm but not too hard. The meats were tasty, though the eggplant seemed to be lacking. For $26, the pizza was a fair price if you have a discriminating pizza palette. For dessert, I got the Cannoli ($4), which was ordinary but a solid size. The service speed for the mussels and cannoli were quick. As for the pizza, it took a little while, but this was justified by the fact that they made it from scratch. Our waiter was friendly but not very attentive. The restaurant has a nice homey kind of feel to it with a decent amount of seating. There is a big parking lot in front of the restaurant. Overall, Favale's Trattoria is a great choice for authentic Italian food in Ramsey. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for high quality pizza that is handmade from scratch. read more

Go here for the white pizza with hot cherry peppers and drizzle of honey! Sounds weird right? Don't knock it till you try it! Its addicting!! It's so amazing and hits the spot for the weekly craving because there's really nothing else like this in the area. I haven't had a good white pizza in years but this is awesome. They also offer a nice antipasta and all of the food overall is pretty good. Ok my followers will be shocked over this high review for a North Jersey (Bergen is ancient Indian name for land of gavones) ... but Favales really impressed me even tho while we were waiting for our order I was convinced this would be yet another Pete the Restaurant Dick review. This isn't artisanal Napoletano style pizza but is very very good. Both the crust being tasty and not your typical wet cardboard thing and the toppings although again - this isn't an upscale artisanal place. You can expect canned olives here rather hand pitted ones done by someone's grandma in the basement - but the mutz and the sauce and the other side toppings are major cuts above your corner pizzeria. On top of that they have a nice red sauce menu of Italian American fare (which I'm still too much of a dick to try) and a cozy BYOB space. You see Jersey is still like Mississippi and Alabama with many antiquated laws. - I'm only surprised Trump doesn't have more fans here. But I digress. The pizza is excellent. The staff is attentive and friendly and doesn't appear to be the typical affluent kids who don't give a crap type - but nice kids and professional. Nice selection of great pizza - thinner crust but still almost as tasty as the fancy places. Reasonable prices. What's not to like here. Was surprised by name change as we are long time patrons of Ronnie G and it's an excellent authentic red sauce trattoria - the news is good!! same sweet waitstaff, chef, amazing pizza but some new dishes that were off the hook. I had shrimp parm that was so plentiful and btw not on menu & crazy delish and my P had pasta with seafood - even this big Gavone could not finish - we came in late for local standards but were not rushed and I just love this place! Bouno fortuna to this 'new' old fave in town - no reason to go anywhere else! Except the long wait lines encountered on weekends- now I know why lines are again - out the door!
