Food and service is excellent! Love their variety of menu items. Comfortable environment. Especially like their appetizers.

This is a nice little bar right in downtown. Very clean with a friendly staff. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. The place was not crowded and the staff wore masks. Typical bar menu with burgers and tacos, nothing fancy. They have local beers on tap. We both ordered beef tacos. They come with a side of chips and mild salsa. I asked if they had hot sauce (being a chili head) and our server brought me three different kinds. Very nice. Three soft shelled tacos with ground beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese served with a side of sour cream. We should have split. They were very filling but average. What you'd expect from bar food. The server asked if this was our first visit to Lorados. We said yes and she gave us tokens for free beers on our next visit. Very appreciated! We walked by on Saturday night and there was a long line to get in so it must be a popular night spot. Good for them, as we had a good experience there. read more

On one of the final weekends of summer 2020 we visited Lorado's. The outdoor seating, distanced tables, and masked waitstaff made us feel perfectly safe in the era of COVID-19. We ordered the loaded nachos to share and the $3 margaritas made the afternoon a hit! The nachos were loaded with beef, beans, tomatoes, scallions, and enough cheese to load the chips until the end. The waitstaff were attentive and we never ran out of margaritas. Lorado's location on the plaza has great energy bolstered by the number of outdoor dining options in the area. All the restaurant patios were busy, and I appreciated the more distanced tables at Lorado's. There's also a number of shoppes on the plaza, so if you are looking for a day of shopping and al fresco dining- visit the plaza! read more

Located just North of the North entrance into Mason City's mall on the Plaza. If you go past the other eateries on the plaza you will find a real gem. Excellent food, service and beverages of your choice. Not a fancy or expensive place but plenty of personality, it is one of our favorite places to eat, meet or take friends and family. We have been going there for many years for either a work lunch or date night dinner, and we have also enjoyed excellent musicians and small bands. Lorado's has recently changed ownership to Matt Perez and it has gotten even better. Great specials for lunch and dinner and I can highly recommend the Club or Blackened Fish. read more

Visited on a mid-August Saturday afternoon, between lunch and an early dinner time...non-conventional dining time, for sure. Quaint little spot with a pool table and foosball table. Lots of posters and such on the walls and ceiling. Nachos were ok, with a good amount of toppings (beef, cheese, tomatoes, etc.), but chips were a bit salty and the salsa didn't have enough salt or other seasoning, perhaps some cilantro, in addition to salt? For dinner I opted for a cheeseburger which was tasty. My brother had a chimichanga, which he said was lightly fried, not at all oily, and he loved the simple filling of beans and beef. It was served on a bed of lettuce with lots of really fresh tomatoes! Drinks were good! Lots of locals/frequent patrons in and out while we were there. Staff was nice enough, but we definitely felt being the odd ones in the room...a bit ignored for familiarity. One would think that with economic times being what they are, you might want to make the new face(s) in the room feel welcome, because without that, they might not come back AND, they might post a review on social media. read more

I almost forgot my last review while visiting the Midwest. Yes, it's Lorado's. A place where there's always something happening on the weekends at night. It's either live mic night, open jam, hippy dippy dance or a techno party. I'm glad there's a place like this in MC to hang out and have some fun. No charge at the door. Alcohol prices are fair. After reading reviews of Lorado's my expectations were pretty high and after visiting, I wasn't completely let down, but wasn't all that impressed either. A few of us went over for dinner one evening after attempting for a couple nights. The hours here are a bit odd. They're only open for lunch early in the week and later in the week, the kitchen closes at 8 pm. Not completely out of the question, but tough for anyone who's looking for food at non-standard times. Either way, we came in on Thursday evening. The décor here is very Cheers-esk. Looks like a place from the 80's with an impressive bar, but dated décor otherwise. The menu is pretty standard with sandwiches, burgers and salads. I had a gyro, which was good not great - a good start though! My compatriot had the club and she was a big fan. Dishes are served with chips rather than fries - a welcome change for anyone who loves salt, but dislikes all that fluffy potato! Standard bar drinks with plenty of liquor choices. The beer list is pretty limited with fat tire being as exotic as they get. It seems to work for most of the clientele! Overall, Lorado's is a spot to check out when you're looking for a burger and Bud light. Nice enough atmosphere, but not a place that's going to be showcased on a must hit list anytime soon. read more

This is indeed a diamond in the rough. Mason City doesn't have too much for decent food choices, which made my search difficult. Although difficult to locate, it's worth the trip. It is located behind a dying mall, with limited parking. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich recommended by the waitress. It could have been more blackened, but it was still good. This place is a bar, so expect bar food. For what Mason City has to offer, you have to stop by here and give them a chance. For the price, it was a good experience. read more

It might help understand this place to know that the Lorado's T-shirt is emblazoned with this motto: "Live music is better" By day, it's a mild-mannered bar 'n grill with better and slightly quirkier food and much better taste in ambient music than most. But when Julie hires a band to play evening gigs at Lorado's, the place ROCKS Amazing sound system for such a small venue, and management has little patience with boring or inept music. I really love the food and atmosphere. I've been going there for almost 20 years - -love the blackened chicken salad -- best anywhere. With that said, I will say the last 3 times I've been there for Sat. Lunch and just a few patrons there -- the ladies working spent so much time talking so loud about their families etc. that no one could have their own conversation. Stopped in on a warm, sunny Fri lunch time. They were doing a brisk business. Our waitress/bartender was attentive. Its a bar with food. Decent sandwiches served fairly quickly. We shared the Mex potato skins - nothing much 'Mex' about them but they were good - needed spice or hot peppers. I had the blackened fish sandwich with potato chips. It was good with a good amount of fish and a nice fresh chewy bun (best part). Just fine for lunch or a beer! read more
