The staff person working was knowledgeable, helpful, and nice. I also thought the prices were good because of the high quality of the items. Will visit here again on my next trip to Evanston.

I thought about getting a new piece of furniture, but knowing that redoing our master bedroom is on my list of home projects thought I should hold off. At first the rip didn't bother me, but then it got bigger and bigger. It probably didn't help that my children kept sitting right on top of the rip. Sigh... Finally i couldn't handle looking at it and reached out to my decorator to see if we could get it reupholstered or if she could help me find a new piece of furniture. She suggested getting someone to sew the rip. She said it wouldn't be perfect, but would hold me over until I was ready for the rest of the room. We had just finished a bathroom remodel and think she was well aware I was over pouring money into the house for awhile. I did request a quote on Yelp and Padi responded right away. They confirmed they could fix the rip for $225, but warned me it wouldn't be perfect. We set a time for them to come by the next week and they showed up right on the dot. I showed them the rip and they looked skeptical that they could fix it, but got right to work and 30 minutes later it wasn't perfect (as they claimed), but it was SO much better...and well worth $225! My biggest mistake was not calling them right when it started ripping because I think then it would have been even less noticeable. I"ll definitely reach out to them directly in the future for any furniture restoration needs. They were responsive, reliable and did exactly what they did they were going to do. In fact, the finished product was even better than I expected!

I optimistically brought a bag for fabrics, but I unfortunately couldn't find anything quite to my taste. However, they did a great job colorcoding all of the different fabrics. The store is fairly organized considering how many donations come through. I really appreciate how they even use different drawer systems and cabinets for different subcategories of items. I do think most of the supplies would be great for educators or children: lots of odds and ends that would be put to excellent use given the right creative minds. I walked away emptyhanded, but I imagine someone would love the vintage postcards, various stamps, or Nat Geo magazines I flipped through. Why does everything in a house start breaking at the same time? After a summer of fixing things and…read morea bathroom renovation I was reading to stop pouring money into my house...and then my kids blinds ALL broke at the same time. On top of that I decided our old window treatments weren't quite right for our new gorgeous bathroom so reached out to my trust decorator for recommendations. She said she's had nothing, but great experiences with Gotcha Covered...and looks like (based on the stellar reviews) that many yelpers agree. I called last Monday and found time on a Saturday morning for a sales rep (Jay) to stop by. Saturdays are ideal for my work schedule, although when he stopped by at 10am I had 3 kids I had to kick out of their rooms (especially the teenager) so he walked into a bit of craziness, but didn't seem bothered by it. Within an hour we chose hunter douglas room darkening shades for my kids rooms, as well as a custom made silhouette window shade for our bathroom. My decorator facetimed to help us pick a color and fabric for the window, which ended up being a quick 5 min call. We were able to match all the shades to the existing trim in all the rooms and then Jay was off. Jay promised a quote by Monday, but delivered it Saturday afternoon. While pricey it ended up being much less than I expected (also included a designer referral discount) and I"m really happy with everything we ordered. I did think about shopping around, but decided to just go with Gotcha Covered based on the stellar reviews, great service from Jay and the price seemed fair (even chatgpt agreed :)). They required a 50% deposit to place the order and promised to deliver/install in 4-6 weeks. I'll update my review after installation, but I'm happy so far!

After minimal inspection, I found that my bobbin case was damaged and needed replacing. Now I know it's smart to have extra on-hand, but I'm on the "using only fabrics from my existing stash" budget at the moment, so I was SOL until I could order one- or so I thought. I remembered seeing a storefront labeled "Singer Factory Distributor" on the route to a favorite nearby sushi spot- having given it very little thought, I'd assumed from the name that they were a B2B business. I am SO glad I was wrong! Jamie was super friendly, and helped me get the part I needed quickly and back to my sewing machine before an incoming storm hit! I had an opportunity to check out their offerings a couple of days later, when I was having issues with some stripped screw-heads that were keeping me out of my machine. There wasn't a tech available at the time (it was close to closing), and it looked like I was going to have to check it in overnight, which wasn't in my budget. Nancy offered me some ideas for solutions I could try at home, and even made a call or so to get a second opinion while I perused the wide selection of thread, machine care-and-repair tools, and signs sharing news of sewing and embroidery classes. Minutes later, David appeared with the exact tool to help me access my machine, quickly got the screws out, and even set the tension on the bobbin case for me! Nancy plugged in my machine, made sure it was running smoothly, gave me some helpful recommendations, and sent me on my way. I had another chair recovered in velvet at Calico Corners in Wilmette and it does not attract dust and lint at all so it is not necessarily a function of all velvets. You were not nearly as helpful as you sound here on yelp when I had these complaints after the sofa was done. You' were completely unresponsive and refused to assist any further. At minimum, the sofa should've been comfortable and you definitely did mislead me on your product.
