I can not say enough good things about Lorenzo....I wish I could give a 10 star rating on a 5 star scale! I spent countless hours researching photographers and looking through their portfolios online, and when I came across Lorenzo's photos.....they were to die for and exactly the style I wanted. I think I literally crossed my fingers hoping that he would be within our budget and I couldn't believe he was! When my husband and I met him for the first time, we knew right away that we had found the right guy. He was very personable, informative and extremely nice - somebody who you felt was a "friend" right away. I was so excited to work with him. Unfortunately we had to postpone our wedding and Lorenzo was very accomodating and flexible with our changes. He always responded to my emails quickly and was very organized. He was wonderful on our wedding day, at the hotel when we were getting ready before the ceremony....you barely felt like he was there, but knew he was quietly getting great shots! Since our wedding was in June it was a super hot and humid day - so we opted to not stop at the outdoor location we had chosen to take photos with the wedding party after the ceremony. Everyone was miserable outside, but Lorenzo pulled me aside and wanted to make sure that I was ok with not going to the location because he was up for it if we changed our minds. I was impressed by that considering he was in a suit in 100+ degree weather! Since we decided not to go, Lorenzo picked a few spots for us to take some photos at the reception site during cocktail hour, and those ended up being my very favorite shots of the day. We received all the pictures very quick, and I looked at them all every day for weeks. I was in awe of how he actually captured how I was feeling that day. I look at the photos and actually remember how I was feeling in that very moment, and I hope that is something I can hold onto forever! I have really done my homework when it came to wedding photographers. I have done an extensive research on "Yelp" and "The Knot" and met with more than five photographers. I was truly lucky to find Lorenzo. I loved his wedding blog as well as his other website with photography from Rome and southeast Asia. I liked what I read in his bio, I guess I was looking for a person with a passion for photography who can capture feelings, moments, and atmosphere. What impressed me a lot was that Lorenzo actually went to our wedding venue to see the space and lighting and talked to our wedding coordinators from the venue - just after our few initial email exchanges. I then met with Lorenzo and signed a contract. Lorenzo was very easy to get in touch with every time I had a question. He emailed me a detailed questionnaire that I turned in to him two weeks before the wedding. I thought he would be shocked to see how much I wrote there - but no, he actually reviewed everything and made a bunch of different suggestions. For instance, he emailed me that it was supposed to rain a day of our wedding and told me to make sure we bring umbrellas with us as well as suggested some indoor spaces in case it rains. At the wedding day, he did his job perfectly - he did not miss anything, captured everything from the best angle, but also did so very unitrusively. Even my husband who usually hates to have his pictures taken, really liked working with Lorenzo. Lorenzo also found a few spots at our venue which I did not think of and took pictures just of two of us there and they came out so nice! Even though he was supposed to work a certain amount of hours per contract, he stayed over to take more pictures during dancing and he did so as a present for us. My family, friends, co-workers, just about everyone who saw my wedding photos loved them. I wish I could give Lorenzo more than 5 stars because he truly deserves it!!! read more

I have been been a long-time fan of yelp and use it on a monthly (if not weekly) basis to find referrals. It was invaluable when planning my wedding. This is my first time actually writing a review and I'm doing it because Lorenzo is just that good... others need to know about him! I found Lorenzo on Craig's List in an attempt to find an affordable wedding photographer. I was nervous about using someone who I found on CL, but he gave us a really good deal and upon looking at his pictures from his travels around the world, even a novice like me could tell that he had talent. When we met with him in person, he was easy-going, very personable and helpful. We negotiated a package which included a engagement shoot, and 8 hours the day of our wedding with Lorenzo and also a second photographer. Our pictures are AMAZING. During our engagement photo shoot and also on our wedding day, Lorenzo was the perfect combination of go-with-the-flow and directive. My friends and family -- even those with very particular taste -- have all commented on how beautiful our engagement and wedding pictures are. If you need a photographer for a wedding or anything else, you should consider him. His prices are very reasonable, but even more importantly the pictures he takes are absolutely gorgeous! I enthusiastically second everything the other reviewer had to say. I found Lorenzo on Craigslist at the same time I discovered a friend had him photograph her wedding. We met with three photographers (one of which is one of those "Big Studio" photographers - they were so much more expensive and you got so much less). We liked Lorenzo's portfolio, photojournalistic style and personality best. Not to mention his photo packages are very reasonably priced. He was very easy to talk to regarding ideas for photos, shoot locations and wedding day itinerary. He was enthusiastic, on-time and was exactly where he was supposed to be the day of the wedding. He just has that artistic eye and zeros in on wonderful details to photograph. He is a natural. He literally bent over backwards get the perfect shot (at one point I swear he was going to fall in the Lily Pond while leaning over acrobatically...). Our photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined! I have received so many compliments and people asking who my photographer was. I know it takes a leap of faith to go with a vendor you found on CL or Yelp, but I am here to tell you, don't be afraid to go for it! We are so happy we did and everything turned out perfectly! Lorenzo photographed our wedding day on June 24, 2017. He is wonderful to work with and made our wedding day very special. The photographer you choose for your wedding day is very important. They are the ones that are going to photograph those key moments that you have carefully planned and those amazing memories that you will want to look back on for years to come. Lorenzo's photography style is photo journalism. He will make sure that you get those formal and classic bride/groom portraits as well as family photos. He also encourages you to have fun on your wedding day and to no be afraid to be spontaneous with picture taking. Lorenzo wants you to live in the moment and that shows through in his photography. WOW! These are the only words I have. Well, I'll still yammer on more, but Lorenzo is the pinnacle of perfection of what a wedding photographer should be. He hasthe most perfect artistic eye, but that doesn't stop him from taking "normal" photos too. Photography pricing runs a large range, and I'd say Lorenzo is mid-high, but when you're talking about a wedding, it's worth it. We definitely saw other photographer that were much more expensive, but I highly doubt they could even come close to Lorenzo's profesionalism. He regularly walks around w/ 3 camera bodies and a wide assortment of lenses, flashes, and diffusers(used to alter the flash), and he also brings an associate who takes some photos, but mostly assists Lorenzo with setting up soft boxes(remote control satellite flashes). I know a good bit about photography myself, so it was important for me to get somebody who has truly honed his craft, and that Lorenzo has done. Just "like" his business on facebook, and you'll see some of the most amazing photography ever, and not at a price that will force all your guests to eat tofu at the reception!! read more

This is a follow up of my husband's review from 5/20 (literally 2 days after our wedding)... Lorenzo is an incredibly gifted artist who captured our day perfectly. You and your family and friends will love him, but they'll love the memories he captures even more. We wanted our wedding pictures to tell a story of how we felt on the day and Lorenzo delivered in spades. He took the most romantic, dreamy photos of my groom and me, along with portraits, fun dancing photos, and great candids. Lorenzo is, hands down, the best photographer in Chicago. He shot my friend's wedding a few years ago and I was the maid of honor. We kept in touch on Facebook and I followed his page - he just kept getting better and better!! He has a very raw, artistic, journalistic style and his pictures tell a story. Looking back at the photos from our wedding, I still smile remembering each moment rather than a bunch of posed shots. He does those too, but I think he (and I) preferred the candid, in-the-moment shots that tell the viewer just how much love and fun was had by all. We did an introductory sunrise engagement session (included) and then worked with him during the wedding day. No hassle, no hidden fees, very straight forward and normal contract. We had a small and intimate wedding ceremony, and Lorenzo did an incredible job photographing it. He was extremely professional and knew exactly where to be at the right times. He was also very discrete; we didn't even notice him most of the time. We were working with a short time frame for photos after the ceremony, and Lorenzo worked very quickly and efficiently. The final result was a truly impressive collection of photos. Lorenzo did not send us a huge number of photos, but every single one was perfect and of impeccable quality. It was apparent that his background in photo-journalism provided him with experience to produce very high quality images in spite of fluid conditions and a tight schedule. Lorenzo De Gregorio captured our wedding and I couldn't be happier! I had seen his work and noticed off the bat that he has this unique ability of capturing the emotion, not just the image. There are no words for how incredibly talented Lorenzo is. I found him on Craigslist while my husband and I were looking for a wedding photographer and I sent him an email right away. Lorenzo was in charge of making memories for my July 2010 wedding. He was so professional and considerate of what my husband and I wanted. My family thought the world of him. He was everywhere the big day. His photographs are proof. He has quite the work ethic. I also think it is important for the bride to feel comfortable with all the vendors she works with. He managed to respond to all emails within the day, and always resumed what we were discussing.
