Unless you are a cook yourself or an aspiring food influencer, when are you going to make Eggs Benedict or chicken and waffles for brunch? The Eggs Benedict can be Irish Benedicts (corned beef hash), only if you ask. On a whim, I also asked for Chorizo Benedicts - got 'em. One thing that surprised me was the price of a breakfast burrito. You pay for an omelette with your choice of fixings and they tack on the price of a flour tortilla and fold the omelette in there. It was over $20 for a breakfast burrito!? It was good, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't $20 good. Coffee...nothing to write home about but it'll do the job. We ordered take away on a snowy Saturday and the wait time was reasonable, 45 minutes. My favorite dish was the chef salad. The iceberg was crisp, tasty vinagrette, lots of razor thin sliced white onions and several roll ups of swiss and ham and swiss and turkey. The beef sandwich with carmelized onions had a peppery au jous dipping sauce and was served on a big roll. The cheese quesdilla was some what bland and the sour cream and salsa were needed to spice it up. I was disappointed with the calamari. The portion was small and over fried. It seemed like the order was burnt and the cook gave us the only pieces of squid that were somewhat edible. A plus, the marinara sauce served with the calamari was excellent. read more

My wife and I are always on the lookout for someplace to go for breakfast after church on Sunday's. I have been driving past Lorenzo's for years, but never at a meal time. Well, this week we were in the area looking for breakfast and stopped in. The atmosphere is bright and friendly, the service excellent. I was happily surprised to find homemade hash, and even happier with the taste. The home fries are seasoned wonderfully and the Italian bread toast is light and airy. We've added Lorenzo's to our list of places to come back to. UPDATE: We've been back a number of times and always happy with both food and service. Then we stopped in for breakfast on Mother's Day. Lorenzo's was very busy and we had about a half-hour wait for a table. How any business deals with a situation that goes wrong is a true measure of the business and its commitment to its customers. We ended up waiting well over an hour for our food. There was a mixup with tickets in the kitchen. Both our waiter and the on shift manager apologized. They comp'd our entire bill. The wait was inconvenient, but not catastrophic and the apology was heartfelt and very welcome. They did not try to make excuses, just admitted their mistake and apologized. We'll be back. 2019-08-24 UP Just had the best "Bacon / BarBeeQue" burger I have ever had. Listed on the specials board as the "Cowboy Burger", beef patty, bacon, fried onions, cheese, and BBQ sauce. The balance between all the ingredients/flavors is perfect. 2019-11-24 Update We keep coming back and the food and service continue to be excellent. It's the details. They make their own corned beef hash. They make their own Italian bread for Italian toast. They ask if you want onions in your potatoes. They fill their cannoli to order. Yes, it's still a small ramshackle diner in Schenectady. And it does not put on any airs. There is traditional canned corned beef hash on the menu too. Syrup is "pancake" syrup served in a mystery squeeze bottle. The fat used to fried the potatoes tastes like food service goo. Placemats are printed with ads for businesses in the community. Sugar replacement packets are generic versions of brand names. But the crust the kitchen gets on that corned beef hash goes on for miles. And the tender strips of meat are just incredible succulent. Additionally, the lingering flavor satisfied me deep down until dinner. Plus the soft poached eggs crowning the whole thing had beautiful golden yolks. Real butter was used copiously, where it counted most... on the Italian toast. What I truly loved was when I asked the waitress if they filled their cannoli to order, she sounded almost insulted by the question. And it's an insulting insinuation. I get it. I really really do. But there are plenty of places where that's the norm. Even in Schenectady. Oh yeah. Also there was no line to get on on a Sunday around noon. Yet. This was my first visit, and I'm already a big fan. Stop in for breakfast and everything was amazing!!! I had the omelette with homemade potatoes and wait for it.... the homemade Italian toast ( amazing)! They also sell it by the loaf. I also got a side grits ( being a girl from the south, I am really picky about my grits) they were really good. The flavors were amazing!!! I just have one complaint, I got hot tea and our server said that there was no refills... I've never heard of that before, so I figured he was new and I asked another server about my concern and she informed me that the refills were free. Other than that everything was great! Great place for a quick bite to eat. Service was friendly, prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. The interior was clean and ambiance was that of a diner. My friend Tate told me about this place and I finally stopped by a couple of weeks ago, boy am I glad I did. I had the eggs benedict and it was one of the best I've ever had, the home fries are indeed homemade with just enough seasoning. The 2nd time, I had the eggs benedict with their homemade hash and that too was delicious. Today I had a simple BLT on their homemade Italian bread with a side of crispy, seasoned french fries. Hmmmmm. Maybe this place is good? I have a feeling this might be the kind of place you need to eat at a few times to figure out what is truly good. This diner is a dive for sure located in a spot in Schenectady NY that might be considered dangerous. It isn't. Don't buy in to that. The staff was mostly attentive. Food came out a bit slower than expected but nothing too alarming. My wife and I ordered breakfast on this trip and I was super hungry. Nice Arnold Palmer to start (they called it a half and half). We split the following items: The Breakfast Frittata (wow, cool option!) with Chorizo. Either that was the wimpiest Chorizo ever or they screwed up the order. I swear that wasn't Chorizo. I also felt it was over cooked. Crispy brown edges to the extreme (not good) The frittata came with Italian Bread toast which they said is home made. It was excellent! Sausage biscuits and gravy. A diner staple. Loved it! Would order again for sure. Great biscuits. Irish Benedict. Canned hollandaise (not really a surprise). Huge (Like Billy Facillo) hunks of corned beef. I am guessing they just chopped up the corned beef from St. Patrick's day dinner. My wife loved the potatoes. We finished up with a fruit bowl. The most bizarre combination of ingredients ever... Bananas, Apples, Strawberries, and Blueberries. The berries should not have been served. So, I may raise this review down the road. I will certainly try this place again. ....The food is delicious while the portion size is too much. ....l would prefer, and maybe it's just me, a $5.00 breakfast that includes toast, one sausage patty or slice of bacon, two eggs and a drink. ....The person I was with had a half portion of a pasta dish that came with soup or salad. We both think that a cup of soup rather than a bowl would be much better and also what about a quarter portion of the pasta dish? ....This way, there would be nothing left for us to take home. Passing through the area for work and stopped at a local Italian Pizzaria restaurant, and asked a local who was in line where is the absolute best Italian food in the area. Per her information, we walked out and drove to Lorenzo's! Boy she didn't lie! Great food and great service! We ordered half sizes of the Chicken Parm, Spaghetti, and Penne Alfredo. It was all delicious. We shared everything and it was more than enough food even some to take for left overs. We are afraid to see what the full size dishes are like! Everything was perfect! The homemade corned beet hash IS quite good. I also liked that they asked if I wanted onions in my home fries. The coffee was fresh. They asked if I wanted half and half vs milk which is also nice. It is a small diner-style place with friendly staff and good food. I'll have to go back again and try some other breakfast items as well as lunch. I absolutely love Lorenzo's. The food is amazing from breakfast to dinner to sides. I've never gotten a bad meal nor have I gotten a small one. Portions are great, food is fresh, place is clean. Even now through this horrific virus junk the food has yet to fall off. The owner comes out to talk when he can he even made me a personal pizza once. Went there today for breakfast. I ordered the s'mores stuffed French toast. They were very good. Gooey chocolate and marshmallow and graham cracker crumbs all over. My friend ordered the big boy which came with eggs, choice of meat, hashbrowns and a choice of a pancake or French toast. He chose the pancake. The eggs, bacon and hash browns were delicious. The only complaint about the place is The pancake didn't taste so great. The service was excellent, the waitress was attentive and friendly. Our food came quick and the prices were reasonable. My first time here. The server was pleasant and knowledgable. I had the New England clam chowder. Definitely made from scratch. Great flavor, exactly what I expect this classic to taste like. Plenty of clams and by clams, I don't mean just minced pieces. I mean nice, good sized pieces of clam that taste fresh. I ordered the mushroom, Swiss, and onion burger. Looks great. The pickles appear to be homemade rather than from an industrial can and have great flavor. I would not have minded more of those pickles. Burger came out on a nice kaiser roll, not one of those cheap buns that so many places use. The burger is cooked to the correct temperature that I requested, juicy but not so much that it would make the bun soggy. It is obvious this cafe cares about quality. A gentleman who appeared to be the manager or owner checked on me and clearly appeared to be willing to fix anything if it wasn't perfect. We chose this place for a quick business meeting over lunch. Casual interior, nice staff. House made fried mozzarella cheese was excellent. All freshly done so it took a few minutes more than expected but was worth the wait. We had 3 kinds of subs. Meatball Parm, sausage Parm and chicken Parm. All were very large portions for $7.00. Great flavor. I added peppers and onion to the sausage for an extra $1.00. Well worth it. Looking forward to trying some of the other specialties. read more

Matt the owner/chef is very talented and very passionate about the food he creates. From the homemade pickle slices next to your sandwich or burger to the homemade blue cheese next to your Awesome chicken wings. I stumbled on this place looking for a quick bite, I had the roasted turkey sub made with fresh homemade bread and an amazing homemade Italian dressing. Not sure who is making the reviews here because my wife and I went for breakfast based on reviews I read here. I do not recommend this place at all. I love mom n pop places because I grew up in the restaurant business in Colonie. I didn't even get the chance to look at the menu because of a very prominent urine smell that was present when we were seated in one of the booths near the door. Additionally, the waitress wiped the table down just prior to seating us and there was still crud all over the table. There are much better places for breakfast. read more
