I've heard that reiki is great for stress relief, so this lawyer is totally up for anything that might fix that. Paul is a reiki master of the jikiden reiki (a traditional form) variety, and he actually travels up and down the west coast, so I didn't have to travel to Paso Robles to have an appointment. What to expect: I was surprised to learn that I could actually talk during the treatment, which was cool, because my mom was in the room. I just ended up chatting with her during most of the session. From what Paul told me, with the variety of reiki he practices, you can have reiki almost anywhere, from a public place to your own home. Also, you can lie down or sit in a chair. I chose to lie down on my stomach for this hour session. I thought I would nap, but while I was extremely relaxed, I felt very alert. There is some light static touching involved, but it's NOT to be confused with a massage. From what I was told, I got the impression that it has to do with connecting with certain energy centers on the body. There is also some patting of the back/neck/legs for circulation purposes. The funniest part was that during the entire time, no matter where the focus was, I felt my feet tingling. By the time the session was over, I felt like I had melted into the floor - it was seriously difficult to get up, I felt so relaxed. Finally, when it was all over, I asked about problem areas (you can ask if your chakras are balanced or if any health issues are sensed) and he mentioned that my right shoulder was a trouble area - there was no way he could have logically known that I had just slept on my shoulder funny, but there you have it. So, all in all, I would definitely recommend having reiki here. I felt a lot better, I slept better that night, and I could definitely feel that there was "something" happening on a physical level during the session.
