Bad massages for a high quality price. Price isn't an issue for me for health work, as I pay 400 a session at some top tier. The massages had good technique knowing where knots are, but little pressure and actual manipulation of muscles. I think we paid 175+ a person, and 2 people total came for a group session while visiting Cambria. If it was 60/person likes cheaper massage parlor then I'd give them 3-4 stars for the price-for-value. Old reviews are 5 stars so I wonder if there was a change in staff or management? Or friends leaving reviews? Either way mediocre massages at a high cost of what a hotel charges. read more

Christa, the owner, and Giles, the other massage therapist, asked us to show up 15 minutes early for intake. We filled out questionnaires and the therapists were very thorough in learning about our preferences and areas to avoid, then proceeded to describe what they would do. The messages were amazing! Christa provided just the right amount of pressure and her technique was solid. My husband said the same about Giles. The overall experience was 5/5 stars. Pricing, technique, ambiance, aromatherapy...all of it. We're very pleased and when we come back next year, we'll budget for 90 minute messages! If you're paying by card, there is a 4% processing fee, so bring cash if that's a problem for you. We paid for the massages on CC and brought cash for the tips. read more

I'll admit up front that I am a bit high strung and came to Cambria to unwind after an intense period at work. My wife and I had a 90 minute duet massage preceded by a foot soak for my wife. The owner Christa is incredibly knowledgeable and explained the essential oils for the foot soak and specifics of a stone massage. I left disoriented, a walking bowl of jello not fit to operate any machinery or perform the most basic math functions. Great place, wonderful people. read more

Now here is where it gets interesting....I go to check the reviews for Therapy By The Sea and find that this spa's website is actually Cambriadayspa.com....this spa has the audacity to knowingly use this poor woman's business name as their website name. I was told that they refuse to drop the website name, thus stealing business away from Amy at Cambria Day Spa. Well, this was my first experience getting a massage, so take that for what it's worth. However, there is nothing I can think of that would have made the experience my wife and I had better. Rhoda and her Tammy Ray were very nice and ingratiating, not to mention the fact that the atmosphere in the loft was very soothing, if not a tad chilly that morning. However, it just made the heating pads on the beds ever better. The music was very calming, without being strange or distracting. The hot rock treatment was perfect, not too hot yet packing plenty of relaxing heat. We purchased the 60 session and we got it in spades. The aromatherapy was nice and the techniques were perfect for the amount of pressure I prefer (right in the middle). I felt great afterward and full of energy about five minutes after leaving. My mom and I were in Cambria for a few days of relaxation and discovered Therapy By the Sea. I was impressed by their website and other Yelp reviews, so we booked two 90 minute massages. While this place isn't like the usual day spas we've been to, it's a cute loft over some shops in downtown Cambria and provides a warm, cozy atmosphere. We were greeted warmly and given privacy and enough time to change both before and after our massages. Both of us felt these were the best massages we have ever had and were worried we couldn't get up after because we were so relaxed! The ladies used hot rocks, oil, aromatherapy, and provided nothing but relaxation! Thank you so much for making our trip extra special and providing such a great mother-daughter bonding experience! My husband & I booked a couples massage for our vacation. I am 6 months pregnant so I had a prenatal and my husband had a regular massage. This is a small & cozy place. Nothing like a chain which was a nice change. They were friendly & welcoming. Offered us robes, water and chocolate. I've had quite a few massages to compare this to. In comparison, we were happy with our massages but it wasn't the best I've had. What I liked... She maintained my modesty and ensured I was covered no matter how I turned. She periodically checked to make sure I was comfortable. She asked if I was comfortable with scalp massage & oils. They threw in 10 extra minutes free of charge because it was our anniversary - very nice. The environment and music was calm and relaxing. What I disliked... I felt it was a tad pricey... About $180 for a couples massage. I generally pay around $150. Also, during the massage, she put her fingertips inside my ears which made me a little uncomfortable. read more

My therapist used hot stones in a way I'd never experienced, getting the really tight spots to relax more easily than she could just by manipulation. I left LA 8 days ago....driving, seeing family, and then spent the past 3 nights in silent monasteries (seriously). All the driving along PCH and sleeping in funky beds had my neck and shoulders begging for some attention. I had planned a night at a hotel in Cambria and I prayed there was a good masseuse in town. Thank God I checked yelp! I called Rhoda at 2:45 pm to book something as soon as possible but she was booked until 6 pm (some "movement" seminar is in town so she was super busy). Since I wanted to watch the sunset, I asked for 6:30 and, as it was just me she agreed. They close at 7 but she was nice enough to stay open for me that extra half hour (45 minutes if you count the payment and talking). I've had a lot of massages before but this was the best. Rhoda has been blessed with knowledge of the body, good, strong hands, and the ability to apply hot stones perfectly (it's an art, trust me...burned before). She's amazing. This 60-minute massage felt like 2 hours - in a good way! I literally was laying there, in the warm room with the heated massage table (it was freezing on the beach at sunset!) and I thought, "I don't care if this costs me $200, it's worth it!" I forgot to ask about price and length at the beginning, so it very well could've been a 2 hour, $200 massage - but it wasn't. $10 off with a yelp deal brought this to $20 less than what I pay in LA, Seattle, Vegas, Denver...basically, GO NOW. If you need or want a fantastic massage, give her a call. I know she does couples' massages too, if you're here with your honey. And FYI: I turned on my computer for the 1st time in 4 days before going to bed, just to write this review. Seriously, worth it. read more

I found this place while researching the area and I couldn't be happier. We did the Swedish massage which was not as intense as a deep tissue massage. It definitely was the right choice. I usually get the deep tissue but some times I am soar the next day. They used essential oils, hot rocks and hot towels. WOW, it was great. I especially loved the hot rocks. The masseuses were great. They made sure everything was good and listened to my wife about her concerns. They even used peppermint on her because she suffers from migraine headaches. 4 friends had back to back couples massages. 9:30 and 11:30- 2 had the owner and raved about their massages. 2 others had another person and we were very dissapointed. The 9:30 massage did not start on time as they were still setting up. The location is tiny with a bathroom outside. The non owner massage therapist ( was very kind and sweet) but was not fluid or relaxing. I anticipated a swedish massage with the scrub. There was very little to non existent swedish rubbing. The scrub was applied with very little massaging. The strokes were short and choppy. The microwave kept going off and was very disturbing. This was the worse massage I have ever had. The spa is tucked upstairs in a teeny space, with one room and a little back room to change. It was nice and cozy! My massage was really nice. I purchased the summer play land package which includes a facial and massage. On arrival to the quaint little one room spa, i was given a form to fill out about my problem areas and what kind of massage I preferred (light, medium, hard) . I was then given a delicious smoothie and some chocolate to eat while getting ready. I enjoyed both thoroughly. With a light clink of a bell the massage therapist began and i was transported to heaven. Although i chose a light massage, she used enough pressure that I did feel it. I loved the use of the hot stones and the facial made my skin feel wonderful. I will definitely visit again. read more
