I thoroughly enjoyed mine and had plenty of leftovers for lunch today. My wife, unfortunately, was displeased with her sandwich for the first time in many visits, and I do have to agree with her. It didn't seem to have absorbed the seasonings like usual and I should've noticed by the color, it wasn't as it normally looked unfortunately. Maybe just not cooked long enough with the seasonings but the aus jus also tasted different, so we didn't get one to go like we normally do for her Friday lunch. Maybe next week!

Our biggest issue was the pizza. We ordered a thin crust sausage and mushroom, and it came out extremely soggy -- so much so that you couldn't pick up a slice. It had to be eaten with a fork and knife because it was essentially sauce on a soft, limp crust. The mushrooms also seemed like they may have been canned and not fully drained, which only added to the excess moisture. It definitely did not resemble a Chicago-style thin crust. Service was also lacking. We didn't receive drink refills and waited quite a while for the check. Given how much we enjoy the Venice location, this experience was surprising and disappointing. Sadly, we won't be returning to this location.

From our table, I could actually see my chicken sandwich sitting in the service window for quite some time before it was finally brought out. When the food arrived, the sandwich, fries, and cheese were all cold. I politely asked for the meal to be remade and inquired whether it would take another 30 minutes. Our server said they would get it out quickly and explained that they were busy. However, looking around the dining room, there were only a handful of occupied tables and two servers working. Several nearby tables were simply having drinks, so it was difficult to understand the delay. What was most disappointing wasn't even the cold food--it was the lack of acknowledgment. A simple apology or some communication about the delay would have gone a long way toward improving the experience. I understand that servers aren't responsible for cooking the food, but they do pass the service window regularly. If food has been sitting under the heat lamps for several minutes waiting on other items, someone should be checking on it or having it remade before it reaches the customer. We were hoping to add this restaurant to our list of regular dining spots, but based on this visit, it unfortunately didn't make the cut.

The Italian staff (speaking Italian and carrying themselves in that effortless European way) make the experience feel authentic, not staged. The interconnected dining rooms are beautifully designed -- a refreshing change from the typical one-room Sarasota setup. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Complimentary frittata to begin, delicious bread with olive tapenade (would've loved it slightly more toasted, but minor detail). The carbonara on fried bread with guanciale was a WOW dish -- crispy, rich, unforgettable. The duck lasagna special was mind-blowing with clearly homemade pasta, and the short rib with polenta was fall-off-the-bone tender (a touch more sear would've made it perfect). Panna cotta to finish? Incredible. Old Fashioned was a bit sweet for me, but the martini and Sangiovese were spot on. We will absolutely be back. A true escape to Italy right here in Sarasota.

Service - beginning with the bartenders to our server, we were provided prompt and attentive service. Food - I had the tagliatelle Ragout. The entree was served hot and pasta was cooked perfectly. The Wagu was plentiful, tender and very tasty. Overall - this is not your basic Italian cuisine. The menu is varied and offers many interesting options. Although the prices are a little higher than most (the appetizer menu is overpriced in my opinion and experience), the restaurant delivers a high quality experience
