She does laundry, changes the bed sheets, and anything we need done because I am disabled as well and she makes it possible to live in our hone instead of a facility. Nelly is a wonderful young lady. She's quiet, sweet, attentive, everything we need. Treasure works with us to match Nellys schedule to ours so we can have only Nelly here. Woman seemed really disinterested and quickly became argumentative with me about every little thing; when she was through talking she just cut our meeting short, stating she'd call me. She didn't. I left with a really bad impression of the business, that they were more money oriented (and less care oriented) than anything else. I had the chance to talk to someone else in the community who said she'd been really rude to them also, and that they'd just wanted to leave and not come back. My experience might not be reflective of the quality of care today, since it looks like it is under new management; hopefully things are better for their clientele than what I experienced.

During my search, I have realized that most of the agencies have dealt with difficult situations from their own pasts, which seems to create a certain familiarity.. I know it will be challenging trying to find the right agency, and finding the right caregiver that will want to help us out on the weekends.. Erika was very helpful, but also very upfront that because of the shortage of workers, it may take some time to find someone. I am glad I called.

(Note: I see multiple offices listed for this agency; I chose the Elk Grove location because that's…read morethe office I believe we were dealing with.) We used this agency for much of 2022 to care for our ailing parents in the Sacramento area, and I have very mixed feelings about them. On the one hand, we had a number of different caregivers from Golden Years and one of them stood far above the rest, so we requested her exclusively and were never disappointed by her excellent care. However, dealing with their business office left a very bitter taste in my mouth.. I could have overlooked the multiple billing errors (including duplicate invoices) if their office had been responsive in correcting them, but emails to their office simply went unanswered, and I had to resort to sending letters via registered mail. (Thus, "unpaid" but erroneous bills piled up and GY started charging us usuriously high interest rates on the "unpaid" amounts.. I'm talking 122%) I also was not pleased when a key contractual obligation was not only ignored (as were multiple requests that they honor their contract) but once they finally replied, they blamed *us* for the problem that they caused. Caregiver scheduling was also a big issue. We were supposed to do all scheduling through the GY office, but they were not at all reliable and we wound up having to schedule directly with our caregiver. (This was against their rules, but the caregiver acknowledged the challenges dealing with the GY office, and told us that she had the same problems with them.) If our excellent caregiver had not left GY's employ, we probably would have continued to suffer their billing errors and obnoxious unresponsiveness, but while we were sad to see the caregiver go, we were not at all unhappy to be done with Golden Years. (They did eventually condescend to reply to us and offered a small token reduction in our charges as an apology for their failures). If we were in a position where we needed in-home care services again, I would absolutely not choose Golden Years.
