Following knee replacement surgery this past fall, I required assistance with household tasks, food shopping, and anything that required driving like PT, drugstore runs, and medical appointments. I chose VA and was paired with a wonderful caregiver for 15 hours a week until I was ready to be on my own. Although my insurance didn't cover the cost, it was well worth it to have a trusted companion to support my recovery, including acting as my cheerleader on difficult days. If you're not well, and looking for the help of a doctor, go anywhere else! The doctor scheduled for a telehealth appointment was anything but helpful. I ended the appointment with no answers, no treatment of any any kind, and the tone was rude and condescending. I will be transferring my records to another primary care facility immediately. The man (doctor i spoke with) sounded far more interested in starting his weekend than actually listening to someone who was clearly in need of help. Some times their employees are a bit intrusive for my taste. I understand that it's their job to get in and get out and get to the next patient BUT I do have a life and if I can't be available 24/7 then I can't. I prefer to say that they just haven't been able to meet my needs and if I need to find another company then I will. Our family has now used Visiting Angels on 3 occasions, twice for my Mom and once for myself - and they continue to be fantastic company! Tracy, who runs the business with Dale (I got confused in my previous review and called her Karen), is incredibly skilled at matching up the person & the need with the right caregiver. All three of the caregivers who have worked for our family were really nice, very professional, smart, and hard working. Every task we gave them, they picked up on quickly, and were a pleasure to have around. The 3 caregivers were also very reliable: on time, never cancelling at the last minute, etc. Plus they always wore masks. My mom and I are immunocompromised, so we appreciated this. The billing went smoothly, and I liked the fact that the company could communicate by text messages. These are a great group of people and I can't recommend the company enough! I signed on with another caregiving agency after knee replacement surgery. However, they failed to provide services for the day after I returned home from the hospital and in desperation, I contacted Visiting Angels. I am so thankful that I did, because the agency provided me with two Angels -- Asianay and Bonnie -- who gave me the best of care even though it was last minute and over the New Year's holiday. My sister unexpectedly passed away from cancer in August 2018. Her wishes were to continue with hospice care at my mother's home. Unfortunately, hospice is unable to care for patients 24/7 so the hospital suggested Visiting Angels. I called the agency right away and Dale from Visiting Angels met me at my mother's home the same day as my call. We used Visiting Angels for over a month and met the most wonderful caregivers. All were very gentle, caring, and kind. After my sister's passing, my mother's dementia increased. My brother and I knew she needed extra care. I called Dale with Visiting Angels and he and his staff found a caregiver for my mother right away. Shalanda Williams has been so loving and patient with my mother. She is the easiest person to speak with and her character is so nurturing. My mom always looks forward to her arrival and loves her company. Shalanda always keeps a journal for us for my mom's day to day activities and moods. She's also great with pets and is an awesome cook!
