Tried 2 other big corporate facilities in the area and Ma Maison was the only one that truly made us feel as though he was really part of a family. Smaller houses with less than a dozen residents each made our experience there during the end of his life memorable. I'm grateful for the care and personal attention my father received and recommend that you consider Ma Maison before shelling out the big bucks to a bigger (and IMHO less "personable") facility. Even my teenage son said that he felt the caregivers at MaMaison were nicer to his grandfather than at the other 2 facilities he lived at over the last 2 years!

My family can't say enough good things about Ma Maison. Mom previously resided in a small private…read moreroom in a large, high end facility with a good commons area and impressive dining facility. After about 9 months, she needed more help and that help was not there (even though she had been moved to the lowest level on the 3 Level care ladder). Yes, she had a pendant/call button but the response was VERY poor. She constantly complained and the family finally monitored the call response and the response time was often hours (no kidding). It was a good place as long as you could handle your own bathroom needs and could get out of bed and were generally able to navigate without help. Ma Maison is a small, home type facility with about 15 residents in each of 3 homes. Bedrooms are situated around a common area that is used for dining, TV viewing, recreation, etc. When not sleeping, Mom was almost always moved into that common area and not left alone in her room. The staff interacted very well with the residents. They have a similar problem with staff turnover that all of the other Assisted Living facilities have but the owner is a "hands on" person who knows his staff as well as the residents. I was a little surprised when I first walked into the place after being used to the more high end facility, but that quickly faded. It's clean and well run and you can't go wrong in placing your loved one there. Overall, I would say our experience was pushing a 5 on a 5 star rating.

My husband has only been there for a few months, and we have been extremely pleased with the care he has received. When the button is pushed. If he needs an aide, it is usually handled within a few minutes. He has a completely handicapped bathroom, which is great. For the most part, male activity is a bit more difficult to be of interest, but the aide brings him in, and laughingly, he actually enjoys what he does! The staff will try to accommodate our wishes whenever possible. My husband isn't hungry since he isn't active, so he doesn't mention the dining experience. I've been told it is a work in progress, which is fine. There is usually music almost daily. The spiritual mind is also addressed if one is in the mood for their particular denomination. The front desk always has a smile for us. Thank you!

The visiting hours are not good for working people as you can't visit once dinner starts at 4:30. Some of the staff make it seem like you are bothering them if you ask or need something. They do have large rooms but it comes at a high price.

From the onset, there were multiple problems…read more One of the owners, Carolina Anuforo, runs this dilapidated excuse of an assisted living home with 18+ residents who mostly have no one to care for them or visit. She had presented the facility as clean and well managed when I selected it for my father's residence. The very first week, medications for my father came up missing. She had no control or accountability for medications as witnessed by me. I was forced to get another prescription for medication from his doctor so the pharmacy would fill it again. My father lost 8lbs in the four weeks he was there. The lowest food quality was served and it was clear to me that was done in an effort to maximize revenue. I witnessed Carolina throwing granola bars to residents and this was her form of providing snacks. I started noticing some serious safety issues with the facility such as only one staff member on duty, broken handrail, flooded bathroom that lasted three days, holes in the roof causing leaking and many broken windows. Also, the doors and gates were locked regularly as they claimed for safety. However, there were numerous occasions when staff couldn't locate the keys. The y had a very poor plan for hygiene of residents. Many times I found my father without having received care for basic hygiene to include assisting with his denture care, changing diaper and bathing. Carolina constantly stated her devotion to God, veiling herself as saintly. However, she screamed regularly at staff, residents and myself when it would be brought to light that there were problems or complaints. My father was regularly dressed in other people's clothing and many of his clothing were missing. I removed my father with police presence when they denied me entry. One staff member was witnessed hurriedly washing his bedding because he had not received care for help with a diaper and he and the bedding was soiled. I filed a complaint with the office of healthcare quality to investigate all these matters and since Carolina stated a resident in her care had died hungry one night because she didn't like the food.I also filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. This facility should be immediately shut down and I regret believing Carolina would give my father the best care. She constantly told me to stop visiting so much, which was a huge red flag to me. I told her the fact that my father was always dressed in other people's clothing, he's hungry all the time, hygiene and cleanliness lacking, demonstrated she wanted abandonment so they can do whatever they wanted and simply cash my checks. Please beware and do not place your loved one in this facility. Other reviews online are made by her son and spouse.

I would like to say Thank You to Channel, Taylor, Janae, Shana, Elaina, Mia,Mandy,Denise these women were AWESOME at their jobs, They are all very attentive and really care about their patients! I say SALUTE them all! Job will done! My PT/OT Nazir and Shameena were the best working with me so that I would be able to come home and function and give me the confidence to achieve my goals with team work from the staff working with me! All my Doctors and Administrators were top notch and very professional. Amani, Robert and McKenzie were there to assist me when I had to speak to upper management! Now, here is Part II of my review that has to do the Kitchen Manager and the Kitchen! As you know when you staying in a Rehabilitation facility like Sterling, they are supposed to accommodate your Dietary Needs. I am Vegan/Plant-Based( meaning I don't eat foods that contain Meats like Beef/Chicken/Fish and Seafoods, and others items that contain Dairy like Cheese, Eggs and Milk) basically any living animal that has a face, I was at Sterling Care for 25 days and my meals were a nightmare! Because, there was a Kitchen Manager named Maria, who no idea or clue on how to prepare Vegan Foods for me to eat, it got so bad that my wife had to bring foods for to eat and I had order from DoorDash/Uber Eats and she even brung a Vegan Cookbook so she could get some recipes because the Kitchen could not make meals for me to eat. Even though the Director of Dietary went out of her way to make sure that the Kitchen had Foods that I could eat, the Kitchen Manager Maria dropped the ball and she was clueless and useless and definitely didn't know how to run the kitchen One day she had told me and another resident that she thinks outside the box when it comes to cooking the meals at Sterling and the next day when they bought me what was supposed to be a Vegan Pizza for my dinner, the next day I went off on this Kitchen Manager for her incompetence and ignorance for serving me something that looked like terrible! My whole stay everyone said that the foods being served was horrible and tasted like prison food! Another reason why I was so mad is because my health insurance was paying for me to eat meals that were for dietary specifically for me. But here's the kicker their were 3 other cooks who came and asked me what would you like to eat and these 3 cooks hit a home run when they were working and my meals were perfect and I knew when they were in the kitchen and the Kitchen Manager Maria wasn't working. It got so bad the Director was helping to make my meals correctly and I had to have a conversation with her District Manger to get some satisfaction! Because you have the title of Kitchen Manager/Chef doesn't man you can't learn and have an open mind and Food Service and Culinary. Myself, I'm a retired Executive Chef/ Kitchen Manager of 25 years and I still learn new techniques and ways to cook good foods. I really hope that the Administration and the Owners of Sterling Care review and take a look at my review and others about the Kitchen Management situation and maybe look into possibly getting a FOOD SERVICE Company like Aramark or Compass that can accommodate all dietary requirements and know how to cook but also have good LEADERSHIP! I want to give a special THANK YOU to Mr. Jimmy, Rebecca for cooking and creating meals that I could and taste delicious! My overall experience was great with the exception of my meals by the Kitchen was Excellent and I would recommend if you want to have a love one who might need some assistance or rehabilitation! Sterling Care of Bel-Air is the right place to be. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

The only reason they are getting 2 stars is that the place was clean and many caregivers were nice. I did not care for the owner, Jenny at all. The cost is high and then look out for the extras... prescriptions are like 5x the cost I was paying with PillPack. Phones are discouraged and you have to call the main line to speak to the residents but no one ever answers the phone. I live out of state so calling was crucial. I called at least 50 times and the phone was only answered twice! I had not seen my mom in 3 months because of stupid covid crap and was heading to the west coast. I wanted to see my mom before I left because I missed her and just in case anything happened while I was gone, so I emailed and called and left messages about working something out. You would think paying almost $6000 a month would at least get you a phone call and/or compassion, but no... I offered to do ANYTHING to make this happen, meet outside, get tested, wear a space suit, volunteer work there etc... just wanted to hug her, touch her, let her know I loved her. What did I get? A bull crap canned message about cdc...??? Wrote and called again and got the same response. I Was planning to take her out of there when I got home, however she passed the day I got there. At least I got to hold her one more time but I never got to see her or know if she knew I was there. I will never, ever forgive Jenny/Awakenings for this.
