My first time here today, came in and it smelled good, looked clean. Was greeted nicely right when I walked in by the barber in front. He told me there was a seat open a couple chairs down. I sat right away with Henry. Henry was polite and nice, I told him it was my first time and he said he was going to take care of me. Jack cut my sons hair for the first time after using all his clippers on the man before us...head, neck and face shave...He didn't sanitize or even wipe off ANY of the clippers before using on my son. He also didn't wash his hands after rubbing oil into the previous man's scalp. Another barber there cut 3 people's hair without sterilizing or wiping the clippers in between. The clippers are left hanging on the wall and no blades were removed, cleaned or even sprayed with sanitizer the whole time we were there. read more

My two boys and my husband get their hair cut here, and we will never go anywhere else. Jack does an incredible job with my husband's hair and beard, while every single one of the barbers (Jack, Kim, Nick, Nina -- I know there's one more I'm forgetting) rocks my boys' haircuts. They have never ONCE left with a haircut that they didn't love, and I feel like that says a lot. Plus, with how picky my husband is about his beard, the fact that he is always happy with Jack's work is incredible. My oldest son has autism and, for many years, HATED getting haircuts. It always involved me holding him/his head, there was a lot of squirming/whining, and he was one upset little boy. It was all-around tough for everyone. Jack and Kim in particular always went out of their way to not only show him patience and understanding but to make the experience as comfortable as possible. They communicate with him and explain what's happening, even if he doesn't verbally respond back... and that means so much. After two years of fighting the haircut battle, my son has finally started looking forward to the routine here. He knows the drill and I don't even have to hold his head anymore -- he trusts Jack and Kim entirely and knows that they will give him a break if he needs it. If you have a child with special/sensory needs, you understand what an incredible feat this is. All this to say, Lorton Barbershop is beyond five stars and I would recommend every single barber here. I went in to get my son's hair cut into a mohawk. The barber that cut his hair was curt and short with me, and when I tried to point out things that I was not happy with, he just cut me off and didn't listen. After it was all said and done, I paid for the haircut because I knew that he wouldn't do any better and ended up going home and redoing it myself after I found my clippers in my boxes in my basement a few days later! A barber in back ruined everything. I asked for a trim on sideburns only while keep my beard grow. I eventually showed her a picture of man with a beard look. She nodded then she first shaved on my right side of sideburn and beard. I tried to stop it, but let it her to trim whole thing as she already ruined it. I told her, and she nodded. My beard hair is not even or miss cut. Now, I have to ask my wife to fix it. I have to wait for another 3 months to get my beard back to where I was. Definitely not coming back here again! Been here four times since it's so close to where I moved from. Each time, I tell them how I want it cut and it seems they either don't understand or just cuts the way they want. I don't get how hard it is that I want to grow my hair out, yet they keep shaving it. I try to make it as simple as possible each visit but its the same thing. Jacks the man!!! I've been going to him since I was a kid and he never disappoints. The shop is always clean and everybody there is very friendly. I'm always in and out pretty quick. I only get my haircuts here and if you're looking for a crisp shape up or fade for a younger look, Jack can more than handle it. It's been tough looking for a barber living in the Northern Virginia area. After moving down here from New York in 2013, it took a few tries, but I finally found an extremely reliable barber shop in WiseCuts. Unfortunately for me, they're somewhat of a hike from where I live and work, and are normally always super busy due to their high volume of clients. I must say, upon first look, I was extremely weary of trying Lorton Barber Shop out. One of my good friends recommended them to me when I would complain to him about trying to find a shop with better availability, but I was too stubborn to heed his advice right away. Sure enough, I took the dive, and boy, am I ecstatic that I did - since being a consistent customer of Lorton Barber Shop, I've been cut by 3 barbers: Lynn, Nick, and Jack. Jack, whom I believe is the manager/owner, seems to have the largest clientele in the shop, and rightfully so - his skill of fades, line-ups, and overall haircuts are in a class of their own and can certainly rival any other barber in the DMV who thinks they can cut. For those of you who are skeptical about if his skills are limited to a certain hair texture, his customers are diverse in ethnic backgrounds (Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, South Asian, etc.). Lynn, who was actually the first barber I had the pleasure of working with, was and continues to be excellent. From what I've observed, customers who are unable to wait for Jack due to multiple customers waiting for him will go to Lynn, which should be enough of a testimony about her level of skill. As for Nick, I went to him when both Jack and Lynn were unavailable - I still received a great cut. For reference, I'm an Asian male and I normally ask for anywhere from a low or high fade to a taper with either a 4 or 5 on top. Though this might seem like a generic, simple cut, I've had far too many experiences with barbers who have managed to mess that up. All this to say: Lorton Barber Shop is a superb place to get a haircut and they actually average a lower cost per cut compared to other establishments. read more

There's not really much to specify here. The service is great, cuts are accurate as to what I like. Jacks my usual barber, not that I don't like the others. It's just I prefer sticking to what I know. I go there monthly, and I have had nothing but good experiences. Their cuts are fairly priced, jack is really nice and friendly. I don't think I'll be going elsewhere anytime I do, unless I feel like getting a new look, which I have done recently and didn't mind. But I'll always go back to my old style.
