Very transphobic. I went in for a gender affirming haircut, and the hairdresser was very unwilling and resistant to giving me a gender affirming haircut. It was invalidating to keep having to convince the hairdresser to give me a gender affirming haircut, while other hairdressers were giving other clients haircuts with no resistance at all. If I did not know any better, I would say that the hairdresser was body shaming me for the hair cut I wanted, when in reality I know that the hairdresser was simply a transphobe. Even tho there were 2 tvs, I believe pretty much everyone in the shop was watching me and the hairdresser who cut my hair, which was uncomfortable. I would not recommend this barber shop to anyone who is non-binary. Definitely not worth the $25 for all the transphobia. Only giving this review 2 starts instead of one because the hairdresser did give me a good haircut, despite the transphobic and invalidating experience. read more

Unfortunately, Lorton Station Barber Shop never recovered from the pandemic. The only barber that remains from the old "crew" is Dan, who still gives a decent haircut. Everyone else has been a rotating cast of whoever is available - including some with no experience at all. I took my son in for a haircut before his school picture day, and he sat in the chair of a new barber for 45 minutes before I told the barber to stop and asked Dan to finish (which he did quickly and professionally). Then, the barber - who had just spent 45 minutes attempting and mostly failing to cut my son's hair - asked if I wanted to add a tip when paying, not acknowledging his mistake. We haven't been back since. This is really unfortunate as Nancy always treated my son very kindly when he was young and nervous about getting his hair cut. Now that she (and most everyone else pre-COVID) is gone, there is little reason to return. read more

Really judgmental place. A friend and I went here to get our haircuts. We both hated it. Barbers are a bit too cocky. All talk and really rude. They try to strike up empty but really personal conversations (read: who cares?); it was awkward the entire time. Couldn't even enjoy the cut in peaccce. They'll also look at your reference picture for 5 seconds and then think they know it all. Didn't even ask any questions about styling, products, or anything. If there's an issue with the cut or reference picture, they won't bring it up but will continue to cut your hair and also complain to their co-workers. Big pass read more

This is a long review but it's well deserved for a QUALITY barber shop. PLEASE READ I am in the military. This is one of the best barber shops around the Fort Belvoir area. I recommend this barber shop to all my co-workers and they agree! If you go to another barber shop in Lorton or get your haircut at the PX your missing out on a QUALITY haircut. I have been to multiple different shops in Lorton and this is the best one. I invest my time and money here every 2 weeks. They welcome you at the door and offer you a free drink when you leave. This is a family owned business. Everyone that works there is family. They even offer discounts if your military, police, firefighter, or a senior. I don't have children but theres even a place for your children to hang out and play. I am very particular about my hair and have always only let males cut my hair. Since my first time in the door I have always gone to Nancy. She does a fantastic job everytime I go in and knows what I want. I have only told her one time, the first time, of how exactly I want my hair cut and she remembers and does it perfect everytime. I have also watched the 2 gentlemen that are across and next to Nancy and they look like they take their time and give QUALITY haircuts as well. They will use a straight razor if you ask them to. I get a thin line (part) in my hair everytime I go and it is completely straight. They will line you up. (For those who know what a line up is.) I tell Nancy exactly how much to take off the top she confirms and then cuts. If you have recieved a bad haircut from here or just in general. You probably have not explained exactly what you wanted or are afraid to speak up when you see something wrong about to happen. If you tell a barber "give me a #2 on the sides and chop some of the top off" your going to get that. You should explain exactly how you want it. It's your hair. Tell the person cutting your hair what you want. If you tell them "I want a med fade, straight razor on the sides and back, line up on the front, thin line part on the right side with a little off the top, less then a half inch" that's DESCRIPTIVE. SPEAK UP don't be afraid to talk to your barber. I am a true customer to this barber shop and I see returning customers like myself. I recommend this shop to anyone who I come across. This place is one of the worst places for hair cuts I've EVER been to I've been going for a few months and today was my final straw. I've been going to Dan who isn't that bad usually....today he was not in a good mood and had an attitude the hair cut that he gave me was horrendous it's lop sides and not even, as you can see attached. I asked for a medium skin fade. You ask him to do something and he says "yeah ok, oook" but it always gets misinterpreted and he does what ever he wants to do.
