The food was pretty good for the price. My waiter service was very good. My wife and I ordered fajitas. The dish portion was more than enough for two people. What I didn't like was the extra charge for tortillas and hot salsa. The meal came with standard three tortillas and mild salsa. We went in and she had already decided on a certain plate. Once she seen the prices she had changed her mind, she stated they went up but I insisted she get what she was craving. I was in the area for work so I decided to check this place out. I was surprised by how nice it is inside! They have an awesome bar. Over on the wall is a faded, painted angel and Don Julio logo. It was really cool. I was seated right away. It didn't take long for a waiter to ask what I wanted to drink. The lunch menu selection is great. I liked the food I ordered today at Los Agaves Mexican Grill, for the most part. I got the rice and chicken soup and Huevos con Chorizo. The soup had shredded chicken, rice, pico de gallo and served with 2 tortillas of your choice. The soup had a layer of oil on the top, but it was tasty. Huevos con Chorizo had eggs and chorizo scrambled, and served with rice, tossed salad (lettuce, cheese, green pepper). This was more miss than a hit. I should probably try more Mexican restaurants. For some reason, I'm never craving it. If I had a Los Agaves near me, I'd crave it daily. My roommates rave about this place all the time and now I know why! The waiters are dressed really nicely and the decor is so lovely. You receive free chips and salsa. The salsa is SO GOOD. Who knew free salsa would be so delicious?!?! Our table of three inhaled it within minutes. We ordered a large queso to share and I had the Santa Fe Quesadilla with chicken. I seriously didn't expect it to get better...but the queso was so heavenly. I'm drooling right now. The Santa Fe came. My jaw dropped. So heavenly. Super large quesadilla that comes with rice and beans and a cute fried tortilla filled with guacamole, pico, and sour cream. I took a bite. Bliss in my mouth. SO DELICIOUS. I wish it was closer to me. I'd go so often. So pleased with the service and the food here. The restaurant was a little busy and somehow they managed to get the food to us within 5-10 minutes. I've been here for lunch a couple times, and I've always been impressed. One of the best chimichangas around! And I come away paying under $10 each time. I also like that they bring out the salsa in a carafe with individual bowls for each person at the table. It makes eating the free chips and salsa so much easier as I don't have to worry about my germaphobic sister screaming about double-dipping or even just that my hands/breath/whatever got too close to a shared food stuff. The highlight of my visit to Los Agaves, outside of the company, was my frozen raspberry margarita. It was enormous and delicious. The service was so-so which is understandable, given that it was the end of the night, and the food was good, but entirely forgettable. I ordered the Texas fajitas, which was delivered in an enormous sizzling mountain; Portions were seriously generous. My fajitas came with steak, chicken, and shrimp, and were seasoned well. Three tortillas was not sufficient for the amount of of meat which was fine, because I took lots of it home for leftovers, anyway. The staff kindly accommodated my request for double beans and no rice, and they were cooked with chorizo and really very tasty. We've been here many times and enjoyed the food. Service needs much improvement. 8 of us met from up to 50 miles away to celebrate. My family all went here after a funeral service Monday night 2/24. Two of us showed up early to give them notice & have a cocktail. Sitting in the bar area, you could see lipstick & finger prints all over the margarita glasses hanging up! The bartender continued to make drinks for our group out of the bottom of the ice bind with as much water as ice went into each glass. We had around 30 people for dinner, food service was ok. As the hot food came out, they just stood in the door way of the room & yelled what dish they had in their hands! The menus were completely disgusting, I would never touch it to even look inside. I'm going to give this a 4 and not a 3 and I'll tell you why - the service. Rarely do we recognize the work it takes to be a good server these days. But these folks have it down. While I can tolerate mistakes, I'm a stickler on (1) not owning up to the mistakes (and making up for them) (2) not keeping this moving (drinks full), not disappearing, etc. and (3) being nice (not Mary Poppins nice, but not, "I hate this job" disgusted with another guest either). On New Years Day, a large group of us rolled into this place unannounced. I felt like this was a scene straight out of "Christmas Story" where the family were surrounded by the restaurant's staff. Our waitstaff were the same. Catering to our every need. Now, to be clear; if you're wanting to know if this food quality was the best you've ever tasted, I'll save you the suspense, no. HOWEVER, if you're that wound tight about that level of Mexican food for the kind of value you'll find at Los Agaves, then you should first "check yourself before you wreck yourself", because you're in the wrong place (and the wrong city for that kind of snobbery to begin with). This place is clean, their service is great and the food is very good for the prices they charge. Once more, being a frequent Mexican connoisseur, you'll find these people very accommodating to those of us who can order more authentic (and less "Americanized") Mexican dishes. That alone sends me into the higher levels of appreciation. Make the most of your visit to Los Agaves, sample some good food and have an up-beat attitude with the staff and I think you'll find that your visit there will be a great and memorable one. Will not, I repeat, will not go back to the Moline location. The last two times I've been there the service was terrible. Sunday at 1 PM, place was not busy at all, took them over 15 minutes just to take our order. I'm 99 percent sure they forgot about our table. When the hostess came by to seat another table, she realized no one had taken our order and ran over to waitress who then came over. No apologies, nothing. Drinks and salsa took 10 minutes to chow up. Food took another 20 minutes. I've only had good service experiences at the Utica Ridge location. Never been to the Brady location. On to the food. VERY VERY Americanized. Does it taste good? Yes. Is it absolutely covered in melted cheese? Yes. Is it authentic? Not really. Salsa was very watery and too pureed for me. I like it a bit chunkier. I also like it a bit spicier. I've had just about everything from here over the years. I've been about 20 times if not more. I used to work nearby so it was an easy lunch break stop. It is all mediocre. Within 5 minutes from the Moline location is Los Montes, El Mariachi, Maria's. Within 10 minutes or less- La Casa, Las Regias, La Primavera. All the better options nearby+bad service= never going back. read more

Let me start by saying, the food here is not bad. It's everything else that's terrible. The service is horrendous. Like, really bad. They do not seem to care what you ordered to eat or drink. They'll just bring you whatever, whenever they feel like it...and in some instances, they will fail to bring you anything at all. The building, which used to be nice when they first bought it, is run-down and falling apart. It appeared dirty and the bathroom was gross.The parking lot is basically broken asphalt and rocks with no real definitive lines so everyone just parks haphazardly. The first night I got one of the Vegetarian Platters with a bean tostada, cheese enchilada, beans, and rice. I also tried a soft shell bean taco. For the first meal there it wasn't that great. The cheese enchilada was weird and I didn't enjoy it at all. Everything else was pretty good and a friend got a Strawberry Daiquiri which was awesome! And the Queso cheese appetizer is to die for!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE MANAGER!!! I picked up a to-go order and drove 18 miles to my destination. I noticed in my bank app the charge pending is over 7.00 MORE than what my bill was. I called the manager and his solution was telling me to drive the 36 mile round trip again so he can run my card for the correct price!! Came here for dinner tonight with my fiance and can honestly say I was disappointed with the food. I ordered a quesadilla and the cheese wasn't melted the lettuce tasted like it wasn't washed and the guacamole was a sloppy mess. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! No Tex Mex spice at ALL! I ordered a frozen margarita, it tasted like there was a chemical in it...so I sent it back. The waiter insisted on trying to make a strawberry margairita, it was slightly better, but not much. For one person who ordered a combination dinner and a pop, the bill was $12.21. This was on May 5th, so maybe the prices were increased? I don't know. I left a hefty $4 tip for a total of $16.21. Whatever. The funny thing happens a few days later. You see, I paid with my debit card. It sat in the bank account a couple of days as a pending transaction for $12.21.. It was over the weekend so I didn't think much of it. And then mid week the transaction finally goes through. FOR $26.21!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somehow, they must not have thought my $4 tip which is 33%, which I think is pretty darn good for an overpriced meal, was not enough and found it upon themselves to add yet another $10 which more than doubles!!!! A friend and I dined here at the Davenport, Ia location on Brady St/Kimberly Rd for lunch. The staff was very friendly, informative and prompt. We ordered the chicken quesadilla w/rice and I had an order of steak tacos w/beans. It was also accompanied by salsa(free) and chips. Decided to give this spot while in the area for business. It is a typical fast casual Mexican restaurant with typical average food. Nothing to get overly excited about. Prices are good and food is good. Service was prompt but not friendly and didn't really seem to care whether you had a good experience or not. It appears to be a popular local spot, not sure why other than the other choices are limited in the area? The pork carnitas was very good, tender and flavorful.
