The food was decent, and so was the atmosphere. The problem occurs when you get the bill. They seriously upcharge for minor things. we went on Taco Tuesday, and I ordered tacos that should have cost $8.50. Instead, they cost $14 because I got lettuce and cheese on top and asked for some hot sauce. The hot sauce was $0.75. When have you ever had to pay for hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant? It was very clear that the wait staff had been told to not tell customers that they would be upcharged because the people sitting right behind us also had unexpected charges on their bill, also. We won't return because we no longer trust the business practices of the owners or managers. If they had been honest up front, we would have paid the same price and likepy gone back again, but it soured the whole experience for us. read more

Ambiance was excellent, service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We celebrated a birthday there with a last minute party of 25+ on a Monday night. Daniel the Manager welcomed us with a smile and said "No problem, we can seat you all with no reservation". we were seated quickly and had a very friendly waitress who waited on us with a smile on her face and was attentive to every order. She filled our drinks and chips and salsa with ease. I was very impressed with how quick our food was delivered without any error considering the amount of food that was ordered. Daniel our server was the only good thing about the place. Easily the worst fajitas I've ever had. 3 shrimp and they were all the consistency of an eraser because they were so overcooked. My wife also got fajitas and she had to salt them to make em edible. No joke, never in my life ever heard of someone having to add salt to fajitas. Four stars only because it's slightly inconsistent. The Queso, however is always good- if you're into that. Margaritas are normally pretty good, but the last two times one of ours was definitely loaded up, while the other tasted like there was no tequila at all. Hadn't been there for awhile so we stopped in...at one time it was one of my favorites along the Utica Ridge corridor. Daughter and I had fajitas which were pretty average; wife had a Chimichanga that she enjoyed. Our server brought our food and then had to be asked to also bring silverware which she had to search for. She also charged us incorrectly for a large margarita which was quickly corrected at checkout. The restaurant seems to be suffering from lack of employees (like many restaurants and other businesses these days). Wife and I went for lunch. Patrons for a long time.They got all new young cooks. We both ordered Enchiladas. Absolutely no seasoning or spice to the meat. Soooooo bland. Less then 4 mins later, our dinner shows up before we even got our drinks. Had to ask 2 times for them and our appetizer. Ordered chimichangas they were not deep-fried. The plate was hot, but the food was semi warm. Only ate 1/2 the food. Wait 10 mins for our check. Before we got up and went to the cash register. Told the manager about what happened. Came for dinner after work with a co worker, the manager sat us down and it took our server the skinny long blond haired girl at least 15 minutes to finally get us chips and salsa. We had ordered the margarita special and 2 hard shell tacos each. After another server (a guy) finally brought us our food our original server never came back to check up on us. The restaurant wasn't even busy. I myself had been a server and I completely understand but for her not to come back at ALL is completely bad service. Server definitely needs more training. We have visited this location 3x since they opened on the Avenue. First time we went just 2 of us, we were sat-they brought us menus- then never came back. We waited 25 minutes before finally going to ask for someone's help. Second time, we were sat- given menus, drinks, chips, they took our order- and never brought our food! I was on my hour lunch break so after 30 minutes of no food, we finally finished someone down. Not happy. Finally, we tried one more time, just last week. Lunch time. Not busy. We order food, get it pretty quickly, then never see the waitress again. No refills, nothing. When we go looking for her we find her and 2 other waitresses sitting at a table chatting. So she comes to get our plates, and we wait another 15 minutes but never recieved the bill. Needless to say, we will stick to Los agaves by the mall. read more

This is my first review. Usually if I don't like a restaurant I don't go back. But I used to really like this restaurant. Until tonight. Table of 6 adults and one child. Ordered big pitcher of margarita ( which didn't look too big) got a lot of ice cubes and I think they forgot the tequila. Food came in batches, had to remind waiter what else needs to be brought to table, only two runny salsa little bottles, no refills. Even the food looks like is put together in a hurry and the taste is getting bland. We were not asked if we wanted anything else. We actually wanted some desert. Waiter just brought the bill without being asked. I guess we were told to leave. Very disappointed. I will try other Mexican restaurants. Sorry guys, you lost a customer. read more

I love this place. The QC has a lot of Mexican restaurants, but this is the best one in my opinion (specifically this location). I always get the veggie fajitas, but I've had other things and they are always good and fresh. The waitstaff is always very friendly here and the service is very fast. Beef enchilada was seasoned ground beef, like from Adolf's style...guess I was expecting something a little more traditional like a shredded beef. Chile rellano had some potato in it that surprised me too...not a fan of that but the rest tasted good. Came here with a diner's guide BOGO coupon...said two drink minimum at regular price. I ordered a Modelo Negro, mother ordered a Tequila Sunrise...nope, both on special. I think this is the best Los Agaves in the area. If this is where we are going for dinner, we make it this location. The hard shell tacos, while yes still get soggy after a while if you don't eat them quick enough, they are hard and crispy as they should be when you first get them and for the first few minutes. The margaritas are good, and in the past they customized them with mixing certain flavors as requested. The wait staff however has seemed to have gone down hill over the last couple years. They are poor about refills and checking how things are. read more

This review is NOT for the restaurant. It is for the service only. Our saga: Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Not busy at all. 6 people. Three of which are kids 10 and under. We were sat immediately. That was the best part of all of this. The hostess ended up bringing us our chips and salsa, then had to wait another 5 minutes for our server to finally show. There was no, "Hi my name is .....", just a "What do you want for your drinks". She ran off before we could tell her we were ready to order. Ordering of the food went alright. She was very short and not personable at all. It took a good 20+ minutes for our food, when we are used to it coming to the table within 10 minutes on a busy weekend night, this is not good. Nothing anyone got was hot. I personally ordered the Lunch combo #3, burrito, cheese quesadilla and bean tostada. My quesadilla was no longer melted, tostada was soggy. My husband's fajitas were not sizzling. It was terrible. The server never came to check on us. It was then that my husband got a manager and sorted out the bill. I took my child to the restroom, so I miss the following. The server came back to the table and attempted to take my husband's food because "You didn't pay for it and it is coming out of my pocket". She also tried to take my food as well as my child's. Never asking if we were done with it, just assuming. What!!! Really!!!! Because of your asshat attitude you think you can take food from us?!?!? I've been curious to see what they would do with this old Denny's building, and it turned out great. Atmosphere and interior is probably my favorite Los Agaves in the area. Nice bar area that seats probably 10-15. I've taken several people here for lunch that came from out of town and they have all loved it too. You'll leave probably more full than you would like due to the healthy lunch portions. read more
