It is hard not to notice this pink palace in Santa Fe, N.M. Wikipedia says the building is of a…read more"Moorish Revival style structure based loosely on one of the gatehouses to the Court of the Lions at the Alhambra in Spain." The architects who designed it were famous for their work in the Spanish California Mission style, but decided instead to "base their design on a connection between the Spanish building tradition of New Mexico and that of the Moors in southern Spain." Whatever the architectural designation, it is a beautiful building. Noteworthy is the pink colored stucco that this Masonic Lodge has as it's outer covering. Because Santa Fe is such a vibrant city and the bold colors of the desert Southwest are everywhere, the pink stucco does not seem as garish as it conceivably could. Still it caught my eye when I was on the Santa Fe City Tour and I was very taken with the unique design elements of this Lodge. Originally chartered on May 8, 1851 under the Grand Lodge of Missouri, Montezuma Lodge, from its beginning, assumed a leadership role and did everything in its power to pave the way for Masonry, in the entire territory. At this time, the New Mexican frontier was a dangerous place. The Lodge's first official Junior Warden was killed by Apache Indians just 4 months into his job. Anglo Americans in Santa Fe were rare and there was almost no women among them. Except for saloons and gambling halls, there were no social center to be founds. There were no Protestant churches; not even a cemetery for the burial of their dead. It really was the wild, wild west! But the Masonic Lodge became a civilizing factor in town. Soon the members had founded a cemetery to host funerals of their members. The Lodge brought men of like minds together, furnished them a social life and mutual protection amid the dangerous frontier. For nine years it was the only lodge in the territory. This building is also listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It certainly contains a host of artifacts from the mid 1800's when most of the furniture of the original lodge was transported by wagon train over the old Santa Fe Trail from Missouri. Some of that furniture is still in use today! Though a little suspicious of Masons because of the Dan Brown books (Da Vinci Code, etc.) and Nicolas Cage "National Treasure" movies, I will give them the benefit of the doubt here and 5 YELP STARS for their fabulous Santa Fe Masonic Lodge.

Hello Juan, During our stay in Santa Fe, we visited your shop in March of this year and after viewing a video of how the metal sculptures were made, we ended up purchasing a hanging metal sun sculpture. With the additional cost of shipping, we paid close to $300 for it. Upon receiving it, we noted spots where the surface had been chipped and was missing glaze and coloring. Apparently this was how it was sold as we did not view it close up, but rather, hanging at a distance on the wall. We contacted you and appreciated your prompt handling of the issue in sending us another sculpture (though not quite as appealing as the initial one chosen). What you neglected to mention is that these metal sculptures are not suitable for outdoor hanging in coastal areas ie. damp and salty air climates. We had put the first one up (w/o the rays attached) outside our front door. As you can see in the photos, the beautiful colors on the piece had pretty much faded after barely 2 months exposed to the local weather elements. We had refrained from putting up the replacement sculpture as we weren't sure where I wanted to place it on the outside of the home. But now we have the new one with no safe, outdoor spot to hang it, and no space indoors. I imagine we'll figure something out. So the point of this letter is to inform you about what has unfolded with your product and to encourage you to: 1. Offer to take the sculpture off the wall so the prospective buyer can view it up close and spot any damage or flaws that might preclude them from purchasing it. 2. Make your prospective customers aware of the very possible effect that damp or salt air can have on your sculptures. While some buyers might have an idea about this, many do not. If you bother to take these steps you can save yourself some grief and your customers some disappointment with their purchase(s). A word to the wise ...

Typically when we go to this ymca both of my brothers recive racketball rackets and go to the room downstairs and play racket ball but today they told us that my 11 year old brother was allowed to go but my 9 year old brother was not for safety reasons. we completley understood and complied. we proceeded to go and we started to lift when we were approached by a staff member and told that my little brother was not welcome in that room. my mother proceeded to ask if he could simply sit next to us and he would not touch anything. the staff member left us alone and thats when one of the managers said that he was again not welcome in that room for safety reasons. we again complied and i went to bring my little brother to the racket ball room. i went to ask for a racket for him to use and was told i couldnt have one because i didnt have a driver's license. im 14 by the way. there was no other option for my little brother, the manager brought a chair and my little brother was told to sit in the hallway as he was crying. it was after that when we cancelled our membership because paying 100 dollars a month for that type of treatment is ridiculous.

We went back the next day because my husband (a lover of all things spicy) decided he wanted a small one to hang from his rear view mirror in his car. A different lady helped me this time and she was very kind! I will say that she put the small one in a plastic bag and didn't explain how to keep it, but that may have been because I told her we had been in the day before getting a larger one. I thought we paid a decent price for what we got and the service from both ladies was stellar!
