I was ordering for a group of people and one had dietary restrictions, so I called to ask about if they had anything gluten free, as the online menu didn't have the ingredients listed. The idea of a deep-fried burrito was just too delicious to pass up! I ventured into 44 Burrito one sunny afternoon and decided to try their deep fried burrito with ground beef. I waited for about 6 minutes and I added mild salsa and guacamole to go along with it. It was very delicious and cost me around $11 bucks with the add on of guac. Corona day 6!!! My quest continues to support business in my area that are still open and I've never tried. Today's adventure is 44burrito. (Insert dramatic pause and music) I will admit I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my Mexican food. Living on the west coast and having home made Mexican food made with love from Mexican friends is hard to top. I'll try to temper that for this review. Let's start with the chips and queso.the chips were fresh tasting and crisp. The queso just tasted like canned nacho cheese, nothing special. Bummer. This fried burrito... listen it's huge. I took a picture of it next to a 28 oz blender bottle for effect. Huuuuuuge. I ordered the one with double beef since it came with two meats. The only thing I would have liked to see here is the other ingredients spread throughout the burrito. As you can see from the pic it's about 1/4 to 1/2 gone and you don't see the rice, cheese or sour cream. The beef could use more "taco" seasoning flavor but I won't quibble over that. With all that said this review loses a star from me because of one thing. NO GUACAMOLE!!! Whaaaaaaaat???? I ordered on door dash and that is not shown on the menu at all. My feelings were soo hurt. My family took home dinner from here and we all loved it. We got tacos & burritos and they were all delicious. They have fantastic seasonings. There's even a sprinkle of spices on the outside of the burrito and on the tortilla chips. We'll definitely be back. read more

I was really hungry excited when i saw this place pop up on google as being nearby. Food was hot and fresh but had no flavor/ customer service was good as well. Ordered the steak barria tacos. They are not steak btw...jus the standard beef used in barria tacos so that was misleading. Meal was $18 . I ate a taco and a couple spoons of rice to rid my hunger pains then tossed in the trash. This review is for the food truck...stopped at the downtown truck in Detroit for lunch. There was a long line, which is a good sign. Once I ordered, the food came out fairly fast. I got the chicken nachos and a side of guacamole. The nachos were good, nice toppings and flavorful chicken. They could have used more cheese though. The guacamole had a nice little kick to it. My coworker got nachos as well. We ate at an outdoor table and at least five people asked what we had and if it was as good as it looked. We assured them it was worth the wait in line! read more

The food truck came to my subdivision today. Of course I read all the reviews before I went and they were spot-on. I ordered the birria tacos because I love birria tacos but these were not that great. The salsa also had a strong vinegar taste that I didn't care for. The reviews said all that but I thought I'd try anyway. The reason I gave 4 stars though is because I tasted the deep fried shrimp burrito that my son ordered. It definitely hit different. In response to management... The times you have listed are inaccurate. You noted that I was called at 6:21 but I wasn't called until 6:34 advising that my food was ready. I still have the incoming call in my call log showing what time they called me to tell me that my order was ready. I responded saying I'm standing right here. I was watching them bag it up. I will post that for you in the photos. My main concern here though is the fact that when I called back I was offered a remake and you reneged on that. It's not my fault that your employee is in training. It's not that difficult for you to honor what was offered. He offered it over the phone and I said ok. You are in the business of making food so that's what I expected. That's what should have been done if you offered it. And yes, I did decline the tacos. That's not what I ordered. Why can you not give me what I ordered. Had we wanted tacos we would've ordered them. If that's all you could offer that's what you should have said over the phone. Don't have me waste my time coming back up there. Even though I don't understand why it's so difficult to remake the nachos. If you have time to go whip up some tacos then you have time to go whip up the nachos that I was promised. You mentioned your employee social distancing but you must have missed the part on video where she started off talking to me near the table at the wall but took her mask off and was visibly upset walking toward me pointing her finger with an attitude. She made it to the middle of the room. She did not stay by the kitchen door. That is why my mother came in to get me. There was a male worker standing at the kitchen door that she called out to ask if he told me he would do a remake. He said yes but she still did not want to honor it. You mentioned her telling me the policy of checking my order. Did you also see me immediately after receiving my order check the bag to make sure I had all of my food? Excuse me for not thinking I had to open each one separately and finger through my family's food with unclean hands to make sure it had all of the ingredients listed on the menu. I've never had to do that before. Also, as I mentioned before I was rushing back because I was trying to get there before you closed. My time of my first call to you was not 6:54 as you mentioned.It wasn't until 7:01 and I will provide a picture of that as well. So yes, I left the food at home. That's about a 30 minute drive. As I told him on the phone I live on the east side. I wasn't trying to waste time. She mentioned that people try to scam for free food. As you can see from the photos the food was untouched. Who wants to heat up sour cream and eat it? It went in the trash where your restaurant needs to be. Yes I did call back stating that I wanted my money back and she told me to come on Tuesday. My mother told me to just let it go because it would only piss me off more if you renege again. She could also tell the tension between the lady and I so she wanted everything to stay calm. She had a valid point. I don't have time or gas to keep running back and forth off of your word when I know that you lied to me once so you'll do it again. Your team most certainly did not go above and beyond to assist me. If you feel like they did then you must have very low standards. It was really simple to though. Do what you told me you would do. Remake my food. Ok for my second time going to 44-Burrito, again I wasn't that impressed. Let's start with the ordering experience at the counter. Now I get it the cashier was new and really looked out of her element but give me a break, she needed somebody else over her shoulder helping her out. I told her & pointed to the 4'x10' menu board on the wall and she still got the order wrong. I'm not sure how the new white tablet touch screen registers look from her view but I would think the menu should be on there plain as day, and she over charged me. Now for my meal experience. I ordered the 10" Turkey burrito lunch meal. I would have to say the burrito and the tacos were a total wash(bland) when it comes to flavor. For a Authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant in an predominantly urban neighborhood I would think the seasoning to the meat would have a burst of flavor...not! I'm a spicy food junky so you know when I was asked which only (2) salsas I wanted between mild and hot I chose hot. The hot salsa taste like extra-extra mild with a shot of water...the worst ever. Wow holy crap that was terrible! It took 25 minutes for a small order to be ready despite only two people ahead of me that already ordered. My "authentic" Mexican tacos were filled with not even a teaspoon of dry rubbery lukewarm filling. They were a total joke. My burrito was better but nothing to write home about. The corn chips were massively stale. One was so bad it didn't even break when bit into I had to tear off a piece like corn flavored fruit roll up. Why can't we get decent Mexican outside of SW Detroit? *update* 44B you can not address negative reviews by posting a 5 star review of your own business. The fact that you tried that and went after another reviewer pretty much seals the deal that I want no further interaction with you or your business. Its been quite some time since my last review of this restaurant and, low and behold, it's still terrible. I just got a 10 inch burrito from their taco truck on 7 mile and Wyoming. While I will say that they have VERY slightly improved on their recipe its still utter garbage. The burrito barely comprised of little more than meat, cheese and rice and is damn near identical in taste to that of Taco Bell (then again saying Taco Bell may be overstepping because Taco Bell is actually palatable and is good value) I paid $8 for a crappy barely significant burrito that I could've paid $3.50 for at Taco Bell. The hot sauce is akin to that of cocktail sauce and had almost no heat to it (I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if the mild sauce they used was ketchup) Once again it's vastly over priced for the pathetic quality it is, and again not a pleasant experience. If I have to pay $8 for a crappy inauthentic burrito, I'll happily mosey on down to Taco Bell and get one for a cheaper price (at least I can get a couple of crappy tacos to go with it) You really can't expect the burritos you made for a "quick pick me up" one drunken night over your side chicks house to rival that of actual authentic Mexican cuisine. I will reiterate what I'd stated in my previous review...This establishment is a horrible excuse for a black owned business and like I've said before if you want authentic Mexican cuisine go to Southwest Detroit. So I work downtown and try my best to visit one new food truck per week, just to get a taste of Metro Detroit. This week I've ran across 44 Burrito. Now I like Burritos...as along as the ingredients are fresh and there's no beans (ironically) so I was down to give them a try. I ordered the 10 inch burrito entree which cam with chips and salsa. Luckily since i ordered the 10 inch, there weren't any beans on it. I also specified that it be grilled because deep-fried burrito didn't sound good.I would have tried the tacos but $4 per taco was kind of high to me. This burrito was just okay. I wouldn't call it bland but id call it seasoned lightly cause there is some flavor. I was hoping for more veggies or something but it was basically meat, rice and cheese. Ill echo other reviewers about the hot salsa. It barely had a kick and actually was really not that good. I expected more of a tomato taste with jalapenos or such. This had more of a vinegar taste. Some may like it but i didn't care for it. the chips were good and crunchy, could have used a touch more salt but all in all a good chip. Id say try them if you are in the area but don't expect authentic Mexican flavors. read more

Everything ala carte as if this is some classy joint in Bloomfield or Grosse Pointe when it's really just a dive in a scuzzy area of town overcharging and then not even offering deals on their fleecing of the customers. So, I decided to venture down and try this place even though it only had three stars. The ladies there are very nice but they totally messed up the order completely... after waiting 30 minutes for them to cook it "with loving care" :-) ....I ended up with two burritos. Not remotely anything that I ordered and the two burritos cost me almost $25. The good news is that the food was very tasty, so I will go back. I ordered the Taco dinner with beef cheese and hard shell. I added an extra taco and it cost $2.81. Got home and guess what...no Salsa. Plus the meat in the shell was minimal. Beans and the rice were straight outta the can. The meal was not flavorful and left a lot to be desired. read more

This place is stuck in the middle of Taco Bell and real Mexican food. I like the fried burrito but that's about it. The guacamole is good. The salsa tastes like tomato paste. The authentic tacos were the worst I've ever had. The tortilla was hard and the onions were minced instead of diced. Seems like that wouldn't make a difference but it did. It's right next door to the barbershop. After a few hours waiting to get in the chair I became hungry didn't want to go too far so a few feet over was perfect. Had the small veggie nacho bowl. Nacho chips, bell peppers, onions, melted cheese topped with lettuce and tomatoes. Jalapeños (.50) and sour cream (1.00) are extra which I added. Choice between mild or hot salsa on the side. Wait time was less than 10 minutes and service was fine. I can appreciate they use aluminum tins, keeps the food warm and contained. I've ordered it twice within a month. I'm sold on the veggie bowl!
