I was hesitant when making the reservation because from my experience when restaurants are this close to performing arts centers or arenas the food tends to suck, but I was not disappointed. We made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday night before watching Harry Potter in concert. We parked near the theater, but the restaurant has parking designated to its customers across the street and in the back of the restaurant as well. This is a bonus for me as I avoid downtown Fort Lauderdale because of the parking. We got seated quickly. The patio area is very nice and cozy, but We opted to sit inside. The inside is very small. You almost feel squished of how tiny it is. We started with the yuca à la huancaina. This was definitely not what we were expecting and the taste was okay. We then had the chicharrones and it wasn't bad, but I've had better. I ordered the wild caught Argentinian red shrimp. This was absolutely delicious!! The portion is not big enough to share, but I can still taste how savory the meal was. I did feel like our server was rushing us and our entree took long to come out, but the last meal I ordered made up for it. They also have a special for those attending the Broward center.

A friend and I split the shrimp skewers and a delicious salad, and it turned out to be just the right amount of food. The restaurant is within walking distance of the theater, making it a great pre-show option. Our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed at first because she was juggling several tables, but things eventually settled down and the service improved. Overall, this is a dependable spot before a show. Just be sure to make a reservation, especially on theater nights! I know why they stay in business because they have good food and have a great location. There are a lot of staff around the restaurant, we were nicely greeted when we entered but even though it wasn't busy, we weren't immediately seated and after we were, no one came to take our order for quite some time. After we placed our order, the food came out at a good speed but then it took very long for our server to come back and check on us and someone else brought us the check. Our Colombian empanadas were delicious. Crisp crunchy cornmeal on the outside with flavorful filling on the inside. Try it with the tangy spicy sauce. My husband and I shared the Paisa Bowl. It was a good size for 2. Came with delicious sausage, steak, chicharron, fried egg, an arepa, a half piece of avocado, and plantains. My favorite was the sausage and the arepa. Unfortunately our medium rare steak was lukewarm. The flavor was good but wish it was hot like the bowl of beans it came with. The chicharron was a bit dry so it was hard to chew for me. The plantains were perfect. Will come back to try more.

There were about 65 of us, and we had two servers Josselyn and another lady who were both fantastic. They handled our large group very well, keeping drinks full, and very attentive. Food was terrific as usual. They blocked off the back half of the restaurant for us, and allowed us to decorate and bring our own cakes and help us serve them. The manager we booked with was very communicative every step of the way, and the manager working last night was also friendly and helpful at every turn. This is the second large event we have had Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine and it will not be our last!

Appetizer: fried cheese with guava dip. Interestingly yummy.. salty and sweet. Me:I had the Grilled chicken with cilantro sauce, broccoli, and mashed potato with corn and melted cheese. Portions are massive, the chicken breast was surprisingly tender. I asked for side for hot sauce, one was brought out, i could tell its made in house, it wasn't spicy but its was good. Hubby had grilled sirloin steak (Picanha), with white rice, tostones, broccoli. I thought it was huge.. he still ate all of it. We had no space for desert. Drinks: i tried the Tinto Verano- blend of red wine, lemonade i think, and cinnamon.. interesting and refreshing. I would come back here.

The counter lady heated up this flaky delight and took a seat. The guava was gooey hot and the crust literally was falling off with every bite. It was a superb post lunch snack for only $2.50. One of the gender neutral bathrooms needed some attention and the toilet would not flush. Other than that issue, the place seemed managed well and very clean.
