I wish I could give a million stars! Toro is located inside the Le Meridien hotel in Dania Beach. You have to go in the parking lot and get a ticket, but the restaurant will validate it. It has its own entrance from the parking lot. Right when you walk in, it feels very nice and upscale. My husband and I came for a happy hour experience, and tried just about everything. All of it was incredible! The guac was served with a mixture of plantain chips and tortilla chips, which I loved. The corn empanadas were surprisingly a little spicy, but delicious. The mac and cheese came in a skillet with tajin breadcrumbs, and was super creamy and delicious. The elote was probably my favorite. You can't beat truffle! I also especially loved the yuca that came with the beef. The drinks were super strong. After about a drink and a half (the hibiscus margarita and the Mexican mojito), I found myself needing to probably cut myself off. We sat at the bar, and the server who helped us was really nice. We were super excited to try Toro for the first time, been trying to go here for months so we went for my boyfriends birthday. We were unfortunately very let down. Upon arrival, the restaurant was very cool, open, and nice. Our waiter came to us and although he was kind, he didn't introduce himself which is the standard. we were 1 of 2 tables in his section. We ordered our drinks, which came very full and he spilled a little bit of my drink on the table ( which is fine) however he did not bring any napkin to clean up the spilled drink. We noticed that he was very attentive with the other table, wiping their table down as they were eating yet no service to us. We ordered the Swordfish Dip which was supposed to come with plantain chips so we were surprised when it came with regular tortilla chips. The server did not acknowledge or let us know beforehand that they were out of plantain chips, which I feel like should have been mentioned. We asked him to check if there were any more left and he never checked until we asked him again a couple minutes later. In addition, he was not tentative with filling up our waters AT ALL. It was like we weren't there. We asked him for waters and he forgot again. He seemed like he just wanted to leave the entire time, checking his watch at the table, rushing us to put food in, when it was only around 9:30ish. Let me state that the food was delicious. We got the empanadas , swordfish dip and a side of roasted avocado. Everything tasted really good. Definitely expensive for the portions being on the smaller side though. Drinks were amazing. We got the Pisco sour, Mercado, smoked old fashioned, and the tequilla drink with mango and passion fruit. All super tasty. After we were done with our food we asked for the check and after he brought it he disappeared for around 10-15 minutes. We had to bring the check to the bar to pay the bill and then the bartender went inside the kitchen to get him and he came out. He asked to redeem our parking ticket twice, assuming he forgot he did it the first time which showed he just wasn't really focused. This review is long overdue. I first visited Toro several years ago, likely right after it opened, and I had a great experience. We went in for a couple of cocktails and appetizers, and I remember the appetizers being so delicious and generously portioned that we were full without ever ordering entrées. The drinks were creative and equally delicious. The service back then was fantastic too. I'm not sure why I never returned. I think it's because Toro is a bit off the beaten path and not close to where I usually go. Fast forward, my friend and I decided to go back after hearing about it and remembering how much we enjoyed it the first time. Toro is located inside a hotel and feels like a hidden gem. When we arrived, the lighting was dim and cozy, and the space felt intimate despite having two large parties of about 20 guests each dining at the same time. We were greeted by MC, who truly gave us the best service I've had in a long time. Even while assisting those two big groups, she was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. She even advised us to put our order in before the large parties so our food wouldn't be delayed. That's the kind of service that makes a lasting impression. We started with the sweet corn empanadas, which come three to an order and are actually pretty large. We each had one and took the third home. They were perfectly crunchy, not greasy at all, and filled with manchego cheese and avocado purée, aji amarillo, served with a chimichurri sauce that tied everything together. Next, we had the ceviche amarillo, which MC recommended, and it was phenomenal. It featured hamachi, cucumber, red onion, and mango, and the balance of flavors was so refreshing and vibrant. It's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after the fact. For the entrées, I ordered the lomo saltado. It came with beef tenderloin, stir-fried peppers, red onion, tomato, creamy rice, cilantro, and crispy potato strings. I've had lomo saltado before but never with creamy rice, and let me tell you, it was absolutely incredible. The combination of flavors and textures was something I've never experienced before. I honestly think it was one of the best meals I've ever had. My friend ended up eating off my plate because mine was better than hers. She ordered the zarandeado yellowtail snapper with adobo marinade, cabbage slaw, grilled avocado, radish, and charred lemon. It was beautifully presented and very fresh, but we both felt it lacked flavor. It was light and clean but not bold or spicy, which I usually prefer. If you like milder dishes, you'll probably love it, but it just wasn't for me. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, dessert is always a must. We chose the churros, which came with cinnamon sugar, dulce de leche, and a small scoop of coconut gelato. The gelato was honestly the highlight. I would have eaten a whole bowl of it if I could. The churros themselves were fresh and crispy, not greasy, and the dulce de leche was rich and delicious even though I'm not usually a fan of it. The cocktails were just as impressive as the food. We had four different specialty drinks, one of which was an espresso martini made with tequila. Each drink was smooth, well-balanced, and didn't have the overpowering taste of tequila, thanks to the high-quality house tequila they use. Toward the end of the meal, the manager, whose name I believe was Richard, came over to check in with us. He was incredibly kind and told us about Toro's Tequila Library at the front of the restaurant. They offer tequila tastings with six different high-quality tequilas, each paired with small bites from the chef. He explained that they specialize in premium tequilas, not the usual commercial brands, and that their bartenders can create custom cocktails based on your personal taste. Richard even offered to treat us to a tasting on the house in the future, which was such a generous gesture. He also introduced us to Danny, the bartender who leads the tequila tastings. Danny gave us a quick education on agave and what makes a tequila truly high quality. I've only recently started appreciating tequila, and this conversation really helped me understand the difference between what I've been drinking and what good tequila actually is. All in all, Toro completely blew me away. The food, the drinks, the service, the ambiance, everything was top tier. MC was a dream of a server, Richard went out of his way to make us feel welcome, Danny added such a unique personal touch and of course, the chef for an unforgettable meal Toro may be a little hidden, but it deserves to be packed every night. We actually live in Dania, although we have family staying at the hotel. We decided to order from here today and try it for the first time. We only live about 2 miles away from this location. All the special modifications were wrong, the sauces came on top when we asked for them to be on the side. The food itself honestly wasn't very good and the value for the price point was definitely not there. $50 for a Loma Salado that was not very good. The burrata was okay, nothing great for sure.... We went here for Valentine's Day, and while I expected a more romantic ambiance, the lively atmosphere and loud Latin music gave it a fun and energetic vibe instead. Not quite what I had in mind, but still a good time! The food was hands-down delicious, easily the highlight of the night. Service had a few hiccups--our salad was forgotten, and we wished our water had been refilled more often--but our waiter was apologetic and made up for it. Sebastian was great, just seemed a little too busy. A big plus was how accommodating they were when we asked to move tables away from the revolving kitchen doors, which really helped improve the experience. A sweet touch was the two roses on the table, and a week later, they're still alive and beautifully bloomed! Went to Toro's for dinner for a birthday celebration. This is a really nice place. Staff was attentive, friendly & Drinks are good! We started off with some appetizers. We had the sweet corn empanadas, which were incredibly flavorful & highly recommend. Also had the Chícharon de Camarones, which were also delightful. We also had the Toro Guacamole, which wasn't our favorite but not terrible. For the entree, my husband & I had shared the Zarandeado Yellow Tail Snapper & the Angry Toro Roll. It was plenty for the both of us. The snapper had a bit of a kick to it, felt it was a little over seasoned though. The Angry Toro roll, however, was really good & would recommend. 5 stars!!! From beginning to end!!! I would highly suggest making reservations through Open Table and not through google. We were able to get a last minute reservation added on to some friends for New Years Eve which was very accommodating. The hostess was sweet and we joined our friends for the night. Danny came to our table to greet us and tell us about how the restaurant works and how the tequila is mostly additive free. We ordered our first round of drinks. He was working along said the waitress to take care of us who was also very sweet and amazing! We ordered a ton of apps. We got the guac, it's a small portion but very good. We ordered chicharrón de camarón which was sooo good. We had the octopus, a roll, and a few others. The corn empanadas were so good. Everything we ordered was delicious and enough to share. The drinks were also so good! The waiters and bar tenders were all so amazing. We stayed for the countdown to New Years and got to celebrate with all of them. Company decided to have my husband's retirement dinner here at this restaurant inside the Le Meridian hotel. 9 of us attended. It would have been nice to be seated in the tequila bar room which was smaller quieter and more intimate. The manager however quickly placed us at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen doors. The music was a bit loud for us to have successful conversation with those at the other end of the table. The server gal was nice, attentive. We had met a few of our coworkers there at the bar. It was happy hour. We seated at the table and asked for the happy hour drinks. Server informed us that it was only at the bar, literally 10 feet away from our table. Price difference on drinks was $6 each. CFO of our party asked if we could have HH drinks at the table. Manager quasi reluctantly said "one round only". Ok We ordered a few appetizers for the table. Guacamole was very good. Chip's served with it were both standard corn and then banana chips too. Very good. Also had two sushi rolls, really good. And grilled octopus served on a smashed potato. Really tasty too! I went with a signature dish, Lomo Saltado. Beef pieces, perfectly cooked served on creamy rice with grilled peppers and onions. It was good although the two others who ordered it, like me, expected more sauce or gravy on it. Hubs had the filet mignon which was also perfectly cooked. One person ordered the outrageous tomahawk steak to share with another. I even got a taste. It was great. The side of asparagus my husband received was enormous. Overall, everyone was pleased with their entrees. We then ordered a few desserts for the table. The churros were the best I have ever had. 5 per order with a caramel dipping sauce included. We have dined here many times since opening many years ago (pre-covid). First off the location is fantastic since it is right off I-95. Plus the parking is easy and free. To me this is a huge plus (anyone tried parking in Dania pointe lately?....The restaurant is casual chic and to the side there is a separate tequila room where you can grab drinks and bar bites. The menu is not excessive in offerings but what they have is all pretty much excellent. Our go to is the red snapper with a side of brussel sprouts. Price wise it can get costly however me and my wife share. For us an app, the main and a side with two drinks each come to around $150 inc tip. It can get a little noise inside when crowded that would be my only warning. We tend to sit at the bar as the bartender (female-cannot recall her name) is our favorite! Enjoy! read more

The interior is dimly lit and has an intimate feel to it. Spacious. We went to an early dinner and were promptly seated. Our server Abanoub was very friendly and attentive. To start I ordered their Smoked swordfish dip which was delicious and the Mercado cocktail minus the tanteo habanero tequila. Had a lovely Valentine's Day with my love who surprised me with dinner reservations to TORO. We arrived and see that they have parking which you have to pay for. It was $10 for two hours. We had reservations for 7:45pm and we arrived at 7:40pm. The hostess asks us to wait until 7:45pm to take us to our table which I thought was a bit odd since we were just 5 min early but whatever. We notice that they have two rooms. One was a bright dining room that was pretty full and to our left was a more low key, dimmed lighting room that had less people in it. We asked hostess if we could be sat at the room on the left instead of the main dining room and she responds asking "are you guys only drinking tequila?" We were confused by her question and my bf answered that we would also like to order food. Hostess then says that the room is the Tequila library and they only serve tequila for drinks but you can also order food. I told her that's fine as we were planning on trying the tequila anyways. So she takes us to a small table for two inside the tequila library next to the bar. They had a Valentines menu and two roses on the table. I thought that was cute and much better option than the main dining room which had more families and children. The tequila library only had adults which I liked. We're then approached by Daniel who says that he is the tequila mixologist and also our server. He asks us what drinks we would like to start off with. I tell him we would like to try a smooth tequila to sip on. He immediately runs to the bar and comes back with a bottle called Siete Leguas and pours it in a champagne glass which I thought was funny. We try a sip of it and are shocked at how smooth it is. Especially since it was room temperature. I was worried how it would go down but it was probably the smoothest tequila I've ever tried. Daniel explains that all their tequilas are additive free and they don't carry the big names like Don Julio, Casamigos, etc. I loved that! For entrees, I ordered the picanha steak with truffle fries and my boyfriend got the churrasco with asparagus. Both meals were delicious! We then order margaritas which were also made with a yummy smooth tequila. Overall, our food and tequila drinks were delicious and Daniel was a great server/mixologist. Came here for a date night/bday celebration after having last visited over a year ago. The tequila library and mixologist is what stands out about this restaurant, honestly couldn't remember how well we liked the food. For an appetizer, we ordered the smoked fish dip (we were scraping the bowl, that's how good it was)! I got the skirt steak medium well with the Pura Vida side, while my partner got the lamb chops with a side of Brussel Sprouts. We were accidentally brought out French fries that we didn't order but we got to keep it (super nice hospitality here). If you're open to trying out tequila cocktails, I'd recommend giving your suggestions to the mixologist. I said I wanted tequila with a refreshing after taste so I was given a drink with a cucumber base (super tasty) and my partner loves Mezcal with a hint of spice so she got a spicy-ish drink (ofc with Tajin Rim). Great selection of tequila, excellent food, and wonderful staff! I attended a mezcal tasting at Toro last year, and I remember they had a large selection of tequila. My cousin loves Tequila, so we decided to come here and do a tasting. We had the vertical tasting, which included 3 tastings of Blanco, repesado, and anejo from one brand. And, the horizontal tasting, which included 3 tastings from 3 different brands. The bartender made excellent recommendations on the brands and types of Tequila to try. The Tequila was smooth and flavorful. I enjoyed it. I also tried the oaxacan old fashioned. It was strong, flavorful, and very tasty. I have never tried an old fashioned with mezcal. It is definitely worth a try! We enjoyed light bites from the happy hour menu, truffle fries, smoked fish dip, and Peruvian chicken. All of the appetizers were excellent. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the homemade smoked fish dip was served with fresh Plantain chips. Everything was good. My cousin enjoyed the bison burger and he loved it. He said it was tender and juicy. The staff at Toro was friendly and attentive. They spoke with us, made a few jokes, and made great company. Even the manager came over and greeted us. Great staff! I've driven past the Meridien hotel countless times, and never knew Toro restaurant was located there. Our friends brought us to this spot and we loved the cuisine! Everything was fresh and flavorful. The ambience is rustic-luxe with beautiful furnishings and tequila on display. We enjoyed the grilled octopus, ceviche nikkei, and calamari. Everything was presented in a vibrant and sophisticated manner. The octopus was tender and smokey with incredible sauces. The ceviche was refreshing and intricate. The calamari was crispy and spicy. We went on a rainy Friday and were sat immediately. Dominican bachata music played the entire night which I enjoyed as well as the decor and atmosphere. The drinks were pretty good and the server was very knowledgeable and explained everything, gave suggestions . (Young Latin or mixed guy with curly hair). We ordered the snapper fish and the skirt steak with pura vida (rice, beans, and sweet plantain). The steak temperature was cooked as ordered and flavorful. The rice seemed to me to be from the previous day, I cannot imagine it was cooked the same day. My guest said the fish was ok which came with a grilled avocado that they didn't like. The strawberry margarita (ordered with nothing on the rim) was good and the caipirinha I really enjoyed. My guest ordered a spicy drink with foam that was also pretty good. It was pretty empty so everything came out to us pretty quickly (especially the drinks) The 2 things I didn't like is 1) not mentioning the tip was included, the receipt does say service charge included (some places consider this the tip and some don't). This is a personal pet peeve of mine since is I used to be in the restaurant industry and we always told the guest the tip was included but they are free to tip more, not saying anything seems like trying to get over (in my opinion). 2) the old rice (assume it was old because it was really dry and its consistency), I get some restaurants not throwing away rice from the day before but this place is on the higher end and charges over $50 for the skirt steak and at that price point I do not expect old left over rice. 4 drinks, the fish, the skirt steak came out to roughly $220 including their automatic service charge of 18%.I then mistakenly left an additional $30. Went to Toro for happy hour around 6pm on a Saturday. Located in the Le Meridian at Dania Beach. They have happy from 5-7pm. Sat at the bar in the main dining room although the tequila library also looked like a fun area to sit and dine. Got a couple drinks and some light food. The service was fantastic, our bartender was great with her recommendations on what to try. The beef skewers were very delicious and the corn empanadas didn't disappoint with the chimicurri on the side. You have to get a ticket for parking but they validate which is nice. read more

Shout out first to our server, Brenen and manager Richard. Two fantastic gentlemen with excellent customer service. This restaurant has been on my bookmarks for two years ever since seeing it featured on tv show "check please." Finally was able to take my wife on a proper date night, and Toro was it! We absolutely loved everything about our experience. The ambiance was luxurious and inviting. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The service was exceptional, and the food service was fast. We ordered several drinks, and they were on point. We ordered a total of four appetizers, and the portion wise was good for two to three people. The octopus,calamari, and both ceviches we ordered were excellent. Full of flavors and all fresh tasting. We decided to split a churrasco because, ultimately, we came for the beef and it did not disappoint. Grilled to the perfect medium rare temperature. This was the best meal I've had in a long time! Used Yelp's "Hot and New" search some time ago to find a dinner spot and when I say it was spot on?!! Whew! Was caught off-guard by the location - it's at the base of a nice hotel I had no idea existed. Parking is thankfully free with validation. We went just before 7pm on a Thursday evening without a reservation and had our choice of the tequila room or the open dining room. We opted for the open dining room since only mezcal-based cocktails are served in the tequila room. I'd go back to sit in the tequila room because it feels like a comfortable, nicely decorated sitting room. If I smoked cigars, I imagine that room would be an inspiration to pull one out. The open dining room is very large. The tables were spread out, which was nice for privacy. Seating was comfortable as well. We were hungry and excited to try several items from the menu. My dining companion asked the waiter what was popular both for the drinks and food. We were definitely influenced by his suggestions, especially the Lomo Saltado. I have had and am not the biggest fan of the dish but his explanation made me curious. Glad we listened because it was superb. It is basically a deconstructed version which is more like steak and mashed Potatoes. The meat was uber tender and flavorful, the potatoes were divine and the roasted tomatoes and sauce complemented the dish perfectly. Outstanding. The other more traditional items we ordered - Pura Vida, Grilled Avocado - were delicious as well. Nkt to be outdone, I had the Mercado cocktail. That foam?!?! The foam could be a menu item on its own. The drink as a whole was exceptional. My dining mate's cocktail was delicious as well. The cocktail menu is well thought out and again, more than mezcal is served in the dining area. We capped the meal off with Churros which were very good with an unbelievably rich caramel sauce. Overall, an unexpectedly great meal. Looking forward to returning soon to enjoy the experience and the mezcal room. read more

I've now gone to Toro at least a dozen times - with my +1, team members or friends to expose them to the tequila library. Nestled off the highway and attached to a (now) Marriott hotel, Toro offers both a tequila library bar experience that feels almost like a speakeasy or a restaurant style experience. For me, it's the library. Most importantly, go find, ask for, and sit with Danny. He's constantly challenging himself and exploring ways to refine his craft to give the best experience for his customers. I've had tequila tastings, tequila neat, on the rocks and cocktail style. If you give him a vibe or adjectives, he'll come up with something on the spot - passion fruit margaritas, old fashion, French 75 and more (all with tequila). Chef Juan is - consistently on point. Ceviches, guac & chips, shrimp, salmon, octopus, snapper, potatoes, churros...you can't go wrong. Definitely if you're out of town, give it a shot and if you're a local...beware, you'll get hooked! We run into a few other regulars now and it's been a fun and random get together whenever we run each other. Only things missing are 1) hiring Francy as a social media manager to take this spot to new heights and 2) making Danny a host for a tequila library podcast ! read more

Absolutely 10 out of 10 dining experience from service, ambiance and food! We came here for Hub's birthday dinner. Service and recommendations from Tyra were all on point! She did not steer us wrong and made sure to check on us throughout the night! Shes truly made our experience next level! The ambiance includes moody lighting, beautiful bar set up and various options for seating. For apps we shared the corn empanadas (and the accompanying sauce!!!) and swordfish dip, best fish dip I've eaten thus far! I got the Lomo Saltodo, wow, Layers of flavor!! Hubs got the fresh catch, which was a grouper filet and added a side of heirloom carrots, absolutely divine!! Even the dessert was out of this world with the variety of flavors that all worked together! We will definitely be back! read more
