Walked in from the 102 degree heat 7/2/2026 at 77:20 and stood there like an idiot while children less than 10 weee playing and video chatting in Spanish. No acknowledgment not one adult in site ! Finally an adult came him played with the kids I was still waiting she told me to sit any where brought me a menu and no one ever returned ! At 7:46 I left having never been waited on ! Always enjoyed coming to los Azteca here in Pottstown, however, they have cut back on their portions in every way. Very upsetting..pay more money for less food. I understand there's been inflation, however, it does not justify upping prices and minimizing portions of food. read more

nope. thought i'd give this place a 2nd try after my 1st visit resulted in nothing redeeming. sadly, my 1st instincts were right. service was abrupt and unfriendly. they do not serve alcohol. food was bad. their salsa and sauces tasted remarkably more like Italian tomato based sauces than Mexican or Tex-Mex. employees' children running through the place behaving like, well, children; very disruptive and annoying. last but not least, restroom was downright frightening. read more

Been going here since moving to the area in 2007 but this past weekend sadly probably was our last time. The prices have gotten outrageous; $15 for a small dish of choriqueso? $20 for an entree that was $12 for years? Nope. The food just wasn't as good as it used to be, the place was barely 1/3 full on a Saturday night where in the past you'd have people waiting for tables. The staff are all super nice. The restaurant is clean and authentically Mexican. The food was terrible. I got 4 fish tacos and 4 chicken tacos and it was horrible. Chicken tacos had absolutely no flavor and fish tacos were extremely soggy. Again I ordered 8 tacos and only received a pinch of lettuce, pico and sour cream. Went for lunch on a Friday afternoon despite the bad reviews and had an incredible meal! We dined in and had 3 Lunch Specials, drinks and 2 fresh baskets of thick, crispy tortilla chips with salsa for about $40. We could tell everything was freshly made and our waitress was great. Nothing to write home about... My wife and I just moved to the area and wanted to find a good Mexican restaurant that was more authentic versus a chain restaurant. We stumbled upon Los Aztecas and wanted to give it a shot, but that was a mistake. Location: The restaurant is located in a busy shopping center with ample parking. The inside is older and could use some updating, but very typical for a Mexican restaurant. Food: The food was just ok, nothing special. I got the tacos, which came out in less than 2 minutes after ordering. The chips and salsa were good with the perfect amount of salt. I'm assuming it's due to Covid, but I was given plastic silverware and my food was delivered in a metal pan - not really what I expected though. Other observations: the restaurant was completely empty, but a lot of the employees used the first couple of booths to hang out in, which to me doesn't seem like a great business model. There were also two kids running around the restaurant, which to me was extremely unprofessional as this place is very small. I wish we would have read the reviews prior to eating at this restaurant. We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. I truly hope the owners read these reviews from all of their customers and take action - you have a gold mine if you can just fix a few issues. read more

Stopped in while we were out shopping for lunch. First thing you notice are the privacy booths. They make it quite comfortable to have a conversation. We ordered the Enchiladas Rancheros and the steak fajitas. Both were very good, probably the best I've had since I left Southern California. Los Aztecas has to be one of Pottstown's secrets with regard to restaurant eating. Considering that it is surrounded my fast food locations & Walmart (as well as having current construction around it), this venue is almost one that you can pass right by it. The decor is fairly standard for a Hispanic restaurant, and very clean. You'll be served with homemade chips that are light to the touch, and mild salsa. Only one choice of salsa here, not several. No cervezas (beer) or other alchohol here, which is kind of a bummer. I ordered the Vallarta Special, which is an assortment of shrimp, fish, & rice. It is served with a side if garden salad and ranch dressing. If I had the choice to change dressing, it would be with anything but the ranch. The ranch just wasn't good on this night, which spoiled the garden salad. The remaining entree portion certainly made up for it, given that I couldn't finish it. Don't let the medium-sized portion fool you- the Vallarta Special is certainly filling! Its definitely worth the nourishment, of which I think is the best overall value that Los Aztecas has to offer. Customer service is really good here, so be sure to tip well. The food was so good that you'll more than likely skip breakfast. read more

Having been at the Hill school for 4 weeks, I thought the food chain started and ended with Dunkin Donuts, but thankfully I found Los Aztecas! Hidden next to a buffet in a strip mall with Walmart, this ray of sunshine will fill your soul with fresh guacamole and fresh made tortillas! As soon as we walked in, we knew this place was going to be great bc it was a small restaurant that was family owned...since the young man behind the counter looked 16. We were fortunate enough to sit by the kitchen where orders were being given in spanish and you could hear the oil popping. After spending a number of minutes trying to decide on the perfect entree and eating a full basket of tortilla chips smothered in salsa....I opted for the Enchiladas Aztecas. As they arrived pipping hot,topped with salsa verde, sliced avocados and sour cream drizzle....I knew they were the right choice. Right from the first bite, I knew this was one of the best Mexican meals I have had. The chicken inside the enchiladas was smothered in cheese and well seasoned. It was the perfect combination of savory and crunchy with the lettuce sliced on top. I sadly did not know it was BYOB, or else a few margaritas would've been the perfect ending to my meal. If ever in Pottstown, hit up the strip mall for some good grub! read more

If you are visiting the outlet mall or in the general area for another reason and craving Mexican food, this place hit the spot. Pros - Generous portions! - Guacamole: Amazing!! It did NOT have lime in it, and you could tell it was freshly made then salted. This is difficult to find as a lot of places add lime, which is not needed when you make guac fresh, so that was a good sign. They also gave a generous portion with our meals versus the usual tablespoon you get elsewhere. - Food: Refried beans, rice, tamales, beef, taquitos, and fajitas were great!! Everything had strong flavors. The chips were great as well, not too thin nor too thick! Parking is ample being in a strip mall, and the decor was the most vibrant I've ever seen at a casual Mexican restaurant. Very colorful! Cons - The service was slow even though there was only one other table occupied when we were there. We even had to wait awhile after walking in to flag someone for seating. I was going to add a side of queso to my meal after it came, but they brought out the food, quickly left, then we were halfway done by the time we saw anyone again. There was no one in sight most of the time. Good thing our orders were done correctly to avoid a long wait time otherwise! - Women's bathroom: The soap dispenser refill was sitting on the toilet with no way to try and use it even though the wall dispenser was still up, and there were no paper towels. Luckily I had brought my hand sanitizer, but it made you wonder about the sterile quality of anything and the staff's hands...hopefully they used the kitchen sink! - The shredded chicken they used in the taquitos and on their "nachos" chips is seasoned differently from anything I've ever had, and I didn't like it. I also wasn't crazy about the salsa as it left a weird aftertaste (I'm a salsa fanatic). If we are in the area again, we would go back as we crave Mexican and Tex-Mex regularly, but it's hard to find. We just wouldn't drive 45 minutes to visit it either. Try it once and see! read more

Went here tonight for dinner. They have an expansive menu with a lot of choices. The chips are fresh and the salsa has a nice little kick. Not too hot but just the right amount of heat. The wait staff is very attentive making sure you have everything you need. I had carnitas which came with rice, beans, guacamole and flour tortillas. Very large portion which was cooked to perfection. My wife had chicken tacos. She said they were very good. This is a byob restaurant they do have Margarita mix you bring your own tequila. It may be located in a strip mall, but don't let the blocked off windows dissuade you from trying it out. This is a bona fide Mexican restaurant, and I say that having lived in San Diego and LA for several years. I've been going there for over 10 years now. It is run by a family and I've watched it get upgraded over the years, adding brightly painted hand carved bench seating. which shows their commitment to the biz. The complimentary salsa is freshly made, and good! Most dishes are sizable. I recommend the burritos Azteca or Deluxe, chicken mole, crab meat tacos, Pancho special, or any fajitas. If you order a dish with rib eye steak, keep in mind it may have 1-2 pieces with gristle -- this is common with rib eye and not a reflection of poor quality. Service is polite if not friendly. Stumbled upon this place while in PA. It's a small quiet restaurant..well when we went. They gave free chips and dip but we asked for some cheese on the side. The cheese was sooooo goood! Very disappointed with the customer service in this place. I own a new business that just opened up in this area and was planning to eat there with my staff and hold events. Been there at least 4 times in a span of a week or two. Last time I went there for lunch and asked if they are still serving lunch and they said yes. Still charged me for dinner and when I was just nicely asking what happened they said basically "you should have told your server you wanted lunch and since you already ate it.." SO RUDE in dealing with customers. Food was mediocre at best and their veggie platter is just onions and peppers and mostly onions. Will NOT go back nor recommend it to any one I know. I'm in Pottstown a lot for sports and I'm tired of all the chain places. This caught my eye while sitting at a red light. It's in a shopping plaza with a WalMart so easy to miss. My daughter & I tried it for dinner and it was amazing food. Huge menu, friendly staff (seems family owned), portions big enough to take home for lunch and free chips and salsa when you sit down. It's BYOB, not sure if you can reserve. It was very packed on a Friday dinner. We will definitely be back. read more

After some cravings for Mexican food and the lazyness of not going all the way to Philadelphia, I've decided to try this restaurant that it is in the Walmart plaza close to home... bad decision. The menu is very poor and the food doesn't have flavour at all. It is just like putting latin ingredients together and just see what happens. Great flavors. Amazing service. Really unique environment. I had to go to Pottstown the other day on business. I was astounded at the number of chain or chain inspired restaurants. It came down to this place and the King Buffet, which is right next-door, which also had some good reviews. I chose Los Aztecas and I was not disappointed. The food was authentic, so if you're used to chipotle or Cal Tort, this may not be your jam. But if you know what real Mexican food tastes like, this was perfect. It's pretty far from my house, but I might go up there just to eat at Los Azteca's so if you do, and I think you should, tell 'em Big Texas sent you. read more

The wife got the beef tacos and i got the carne asade burrito with rice and beans. The wife said her tacos were pretty good. My burrito wasn't bad but it wasn't out of this world. The little one got the chicken tenders with fries. Their complementary chips were hot and fresh, very good but the salsa was blended up like a sauce.
