The restaurant has seen its better days. It's old and it shows but it was clean and didn't bother us much. I ordered the quesabirria and it was very good. Lots of flavor and filling. My daughter ordered regular tacos and she said it was very good. I. Fact my kids rated their food as phenomenal. The staff was a bit slow which was weird because there were only a couple of tables in use. But they were friendly and tended to us whenever we asked for anything. We have been ordering from this place for a long time now. Today we decided to walk in. The food is always good, however, the lady who served us needs to work on her attitude. We were not treated with respect or any kindness. Everything we asked for was met with difficulty. I will never return. It was shocking to receive such terrible service. read more

I had a taste for Spanish and decided to try this place for takeout. It was fast delivery with DoorDash when it arrived it was still hot. I ordered the beef fajitas meal. It came with three sauces , chips, and rice and beans. It was very large I was able to have a lot leftover for lunch the next day!. The fajitas was flavorful and the sauces came in the different heat levels. As far as the rice and beans it's pretty mid. I am interested in trying some of the Birria items on the menu , they look delicious. 7/10 read more

DO NOT GO HERE ! The decor the set up is beautiful which is what drew me in originally and the first experience was great! great service ! great food! Amazing drinks ! Small & very narrow but it worked . The second time ? Terrible ! Sat down for over 30mins service ! Why wait 30mins ? Because the 1st expe was great so I thought itd be worth the wait. Close to 45 mins goes by and we order our food (4 ppl 4 dinners) when we get our food every dinner does not have rice on our plate! We let it go because the food was still good, but when we got our bill, we were charged full price as if the rice was included even though no plate had rice on it! We were told that there was no rice going to be made that day because they were all out . As we're eating other plates are being served with rice ! We were never discounted never severed rice ! Passing through town and stopped for lunch after reading the other reviews. We ordered beef Birria tacos. They were excellent!!! My husband and I have enjoyed Birria tacos from other establishments across the country, and these were some of the best we have tried. Our hostess/ waitress was very friendly and attentive , the seating area and bar had a nice vibe. The restaurant was mostly full and many to go orders were also being picked up. I preordered my Mexican food arrived and still have to wait 25 minutes waited about 10 mins before even getting spoken to . They had multiple people walk past without even asking if my order was taken or even if I was taken care of. I had about 3 or 4 workers walk past. Multiple people came in & they only jumped to take orders of everyone else that was there nationality. Mind you it wasn't even busy they are just rude & terrible customer service. I was on the look out for a Birria taco in Kenosha, which if you've ever tried searching, is practically impossible. Luckily, I stumbled upon Los Cantaritos and they just so happened to be a short drive from my house! Fair price for a dinner considering how filling it is! The consomé was very delicious, and the Birria quesadilla was also very good! I wish it had a little more cheese and a little less meat, but that's just my own preference! It was delicious and this absolutely has become our go to taco joint! The green tomatillo salsa was absolutely amazing. It tasted so fresh! Probably the best I've ever had, and I've had a handful in my day! The building is small, not too much room to sit inside, but it's a perfect take out option. The inside is currently closed for dining in due to COVID, and there was a decent amount of people waiting for their food (which made me assume I picked the right place to order tacos). I don't typically find myself in Kenosha, but when I drove by this place and saw a sign for Tortas, I had to stop by!! There is plenty of seating and the decor was quite eclectic - just what I look for when looking for my next taco shop. As soon as I sat at an open table, I was greeted with chips and salsa. The chips were nice and thin and all the salsas were all delicious. There are two TVs in the dining area and they had World Cup playing, so that was a nice distraction while the food was being prepared. I ordered a Carnitas torta- probably the largest torta I have ever had in my life. The bolillo bread was very fresh and the torta was traditionally made with beans, veggies, meat and avocado. I loved it! I wish I lived closer to this place so I can come every week! Great service, great prices too! I will definitely be back when I'm in town. read more

The food was flavorful and delicious. Received a delivery dinner of the chicken quesadilla meal and I was rather disappointed with the quesadillas. They were more like three small mini-tacos. For the price I was hoping for it to be more... filling and substantial. I finished my meal, rice and beans included, and was still hungry. If I order from them again I will certainly try a different meal. I also have this thing where I like to base my 'likeability' of Mexican restaurants on the quality of their guacamole. Four stars?!?!? Why, fellow Yelpers, WHY? The portions were priced right and it was edible, yes, but where was the flavor? Our party of four ordered 3 different dishes and they came out looking wonderful! Too bad I can't say that for the taste! My husband and I both ordered the 3 taco dinner special and we both agreed that the food was rather bland. Are there no spices in Mexico? Oh, wait! A myriad of peppers and their derivatives, cumin, garlic, oregano....where were they, because they certainly weren't in our food! The rice was pretty good, as were the beans, but the beans were luke warm, at best! The complimentary chips and salsa were nothing special, either: the chips seemed a little too well done and the two salsas were pretty watery. The third "salsa" appeared to simply be chopped tomatoes, onions and cilantro. Service was decent until the end when we wanted our check. We finally had to ask after waiting a good 10 minutes. Of the three workers in the front the two women seemed to be doing ALL the work, while the teenage boy stood behind the counter staring at his phone, and let's be honest: it's a small, divey place. While I might give it a second try if I were ever in this area of Kenosha again, I cannot honestly recommend that you eat here. Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but wow--what a great Mexican restaurant! This is a true gem. The food and the service were excellent, and the menudo and the pork tacos were particularly exceptional. The margaritas weren't so great, and the seating area is kind of open, but this restaurant still gets 5 stars for it's authentic and delicious food. Not cleanly... I don't recommend. We went in sat down, no one came to greet us but we noticed from where we were sitting the floors were filthy and sticky. The windows were disgusting and so we got up and walked right out. As we were leaving we made a point to look in the kitchen and we are so glad we made the decision to leave it was worse than the dining area. A nice ma and pop style real mexican restaurant. Their food has a home cooked, warm loving feel to it. As I walked in the door, I was greeted with smiling faces right away. They are very friendly. A husband and wife own the place and are there all the time. They serve you tortilla chips and amazingly fresh and tasty salsa. They give you a tray of three different items with the chips. The pico de gallo (Phew HOTT), green salsa and regular red salsa. Again, everything is very fresh I was very happy with it. The only thing is I think they should vary the pico de gallo as it was a little too hot for me. They should also have a mild pico de gallo. I ordered half a dozen of the fresh oyster and the Campechana. If you like seafood you'll probably order this. It's a HUGE tasty cocktail of shrimp, oysters, octopus, seasond with cilantro, onions, tomatoes in lime and tomato juice topped off with fresh avocados :) I have posted a picture. You get a LOT!. For my to go order, I got the whole red snapper fish. It was MASSIVE! They pan cooked it in butter and LOADS of garlic. It was a little greasy so I wouldn't reccomend taking it to go. lol When I tried it at home though I thought it was pretty good! Having the whole fish is kind of a delicacy :) The fish eyes and everything lol It was only $13.95. I thought it was a fair price. You also get (refried beans?) and rice. Neither of which had much flavor :( Overall it was a great experience and the only reason I gave them a four instead of a five was because there were a lot of flies near the front counter. (But I do believe they had the doors open as it was pretty hot in there). I saw one of the workers bringing some type of insect killer or repellant to the owner so I think they were taking care of it. When I go back I'll check to see if that solved the problem. Lastly, though the oysters looked fresh and the water was clear inside them. I thought the oysters weren't very tasty.? When they were in the cocktail they tasted much better. I'm not sure if they use different ones. The fresh shucked oysters had a sort of metallic flavor to them that I've never really tasted before. I will be back as I loved the Campechana and want to try the other ones they have. read more

Will not be ordering again. We have been dining here inside and delivery for 6 years at least. Several times the server girl on phone is rude and mad when placing togo. So I started doing it online the problem is that when they forget stuff server girl on phone is horribly rude telling you it is not her fault they forgot an entire dinner meal of fajitas your side of rice or cocacola. You have to wait over an hour to bring food items they forget to pack. So your not eating together at home. Asked to talk to supervisor she said he is not there. Called back several times nothing. Fast forward. Tried again online order. Placed order online my phone rings hour and twenty minutes later for a gentleman from los canteritos to tell me they ran out of rice for our two steak fajita dinners and extra side of rice do we want something else??? I said you call me after the order placed and waited an hour twenty minutes until your suppose to deliver it to call and tell me no rice and if we want rice we have to wait another 30 minutes for you to cook a big batch and then wait extra delivery drive time. So we WAITED. It took them 2 and half hours to deliver our food that night. No apology. Just attitude like we bother them. No worries we will not order again. You do not run a business like that and expect customers to keep patronizing. When fajitas finally came they did not have normal amount of red peppers in them either, something was really off that night but not worth frustration of repeated offensive behavior from server girl when forgetting stuff and me calling back and reminding please do not forget anything. read more

Moving from Texas to Wisconsin one would think that they wouldn't find a good authentic Mexican restaurant and this place will prove that to be false. At first glance Los Cantaritos does not look like a place you would want to stop at. It may be a little out dated but remember looks can be deceiving. Try the tacos they are as authentic as they come Mexican style. The gordita is also very good and picking a meat to go on this traditional Mexican sandwich makes it worth while. read more

Wow!! Finally I have found an authentic Mexican restaurant. Moving from San Diego on the border of Mexico that has been hard to do. But this place has come closest. I hate putting 1 stars because the food is pretty good but the service is absolutely horrible. We've had many rough go's with this place. We've been left on hold forever many times, orders routinely screwed up, very rudely addressed on the phone and in person, but yet we try time and time again because of the food, but the blatant disregard for their customers means I will never order from there again. Small businesses need our support, but you can't treat people like garbage and expect their patronage. The latest, and final, ordeal was today. I ordered fajitas online, said 40 minutes until ready. When my hubs went to pick it up it wasn't ready and then he hears the convo between the waitress and the cook about the guacamole. The cook didn't see it on the order. Hubs then waits for the guacamole to be made. Ok, no prob, it happens. Gets home and we realize that it's not what we ordered. We ordered "fiesta fajitas" which is a combo of steak, chicken, and shrimp. We received steak only. I call to let them know and to see if we can have it fixed (we live really close). The lady was abrupt and rude on the phone and then leaves me on hold where I can hear conversation and everything happening in the background. After 5 minutes of waiting I actually get in my car and drive to the restaurant, phone in hand, still on hold. At just over 8 minutes waiting on the phone I pull into the restaurant, walk up, and I'm HUNG UP ON. Needless to say, I was frustrated. The rudeness wasn't ok. Walk into the restaurant, talk to the lady up front (the same one I spoke to before) and let her know my order was incorrect and then told her that I didn't appreciate being left on hold for over 8 minutes and then hung up on. I wasn't loud or mean, but direct. She apologizes for the food, not for the call, and says it will be ready in 10 minutes. Gives me an horchata while I wait. I wait 25 minutes for my fixed order (the restaurant was not slammed), unlike the 10 I was told. I head home. I get home, open the box, and I kid you not- once again, steak fajitas. Not fiesta fajitas. I call again, speak with the other girl that was working there and she said they'll send someone to deliver the new order. I appreciate the gesture that at least I will not have to make another trip because between my husband and myself we have been there twice already. At this junction it's not that we even care about the fajitas themselves, but this isn't ok. Any business has to care about what they put out and to have an order made incorrectly, then "fixed", and it still not be correct is ridiculous. Delivery guy comes and I can't even make this up- the order is STILL WRONG. Steak and shrimp, no chicken. Not fiesta fajitas. At this point we didn't even bother calling. They don't care. Not even a little. Otherwise we wouldn't have had 3 rounds of an order being made wrong. We're not nit picky people. We just wanted what we ordered and were treated rudely and then never got what we paid for. Today was the last time we'll give them a chance. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
