Now this restaurant serving Mexican fare from all over the country within the Nizuc at the Moon Palace Resorts was the find of our trip. This was the the only restaurant where we tried all meals of the day - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and we thoroughly thrilled by the quality and variety of the dishes they served , all authentic and never pretentious and really made very very well! There were so many dishes we tried and enjoyed that we lost count and only take back the memories of their tastes , so pardon me for not noting them all here and not describing them in detail in this review. You need to go to Cancun, stay at the Nizuc and eat at the Los Caporales to savor all that we did! No two ways about it!! Some of the star dishes we enjoyed there were Mexico City Huarache - A tortilla shaped like a slipper ( after all Huarache means footwear!) and topped with lots of diced and fried meats - pork n beef so tasty that we fought over every last bit. Nopales Huarache - the tortilla in this case is a leaf of the Cactus and topped with slivered ribbons of the same leaf ( thoroughly de-thorned of course!) so tasty that it rivaled the meat version and made it impossible to choose a winner between this and Mexico City version. We declared them both as joint winners in taste and authenticity . We also enjoyed a very funnily named dish - The Divorced Eggs - two sunny side eggs (over n' easy), one covered with red sauce and the other covered with green sauce and both separated by a line of crispy tortilla chips - The two eggs are supposed the couple who are divorcing and the tortilla being lawyers in between . Loved the play on a real life scenario and making a tasty meal out of it! For the culinary adventurers, there is a dish which was Mexican cheese enveloped in Achoyo leaves and cooked. Very unexpected flavors and total new taste to us. While some did not like it, we loved the new flavor profiles this brought to our experience. And finally the best of the best dishes - the Los Caporales Poached eggs for breakfast - regular poached eggs but the hollandaise sauce was induced with poblano peppers, corn and Mexican cream cheese . We went giddy on the first bite and savored this dish until the last bit in pin drop silence. In fact we had this as our parting meal just before we left the Resort for our flight back home ! If you are in Cancun, you must find a way to taste Mexico at the Los Caporales within the Nizuc at the Moon Palace resort! You will Love it!

Some of the best eating I had . The waiters Carlos and Inocente are the best in the business. To us they are family and we we get here we are very excited to see them.

Nice staff but very slow service. Not sure if it had to do with the dishes we ordered, but we saw ppl who came after us but left before us.

Wonderful Mexican buffet. Lots of other foods, also.

Definitely need a reservation, or come way early or late. That's one of the perks of being a Diamond member or the guests. This is similar to a Churrascaria, but does not have as many meats. The salad bar is adequate and good with lots of variety, but not huge. The skewers of meat come slowly, and they are delicious. The sommelier brings the wine. Order the Mayan coffee. The server makes it in front of you. A good show!

Apologies for the poor quality photo - Seafood tacos (main)

The a la carte restaurant is located in the Nizuc portion of the Moon Palace. The 2 things I really liked were the service (excellent, very friendly server) and the decor (lovely tile work soon after entering restaurant). As for the food itself, all three of us agreed that the food was strictly average. The vegetarian and seafood options were very limited. The guacamole was better at the buffet locations - Los Caporale's guac had very little flavour, all 3 of us felt it should have been spruced up with lemon or spice. I ordered a cheese/pepper tortilla for my appetizer - it was a bit messy to eat (had to assemble on your own and the cheese isn't easy to spread), but it tasted good. For my main, I had fish/shrimp cornbread tacos. They were decent except that the fish had a very thick batter - I ended up peeling the batter off. Shrimp tacos at Nizuc's pool-side cafe were better.

Flaming Mayan coffee expertly prepared by Mateo

So many choices of where to eat at the Moon Palace throughout Nizuc, Sunrise and The Grand. Our favorite was Los Caporales at Nizuc, which quickly become our go to restaurant during our week long stay. The food was great, service excellent, and dining experience had great experiential theater including homemade tortilla's made and cooked just outside the kitchen, the table-side guacamole, and the flaming Mayan coffee - our favorite. We were fortunate to have Mateo, Dayvi, and manager Angelica Bruno wait on our party a couple nights - they could not have been friendly, welcoming or hospitable

The food was excellent. I had the flank steak and a cream soup that was awesome. Excellent service and staff. My favorite at Moon Palace.

I'm going to keep it simple. 100% best Mexican food I've ever had. It's spectacular. Went for breakfast and had enchiladas with red sauce and a fried egg, dinner I had cheese fondu, tortilla soup, homemade guacamole and chips, and chicken tacos. Love this place, going back everyday.

Our son was a huge fan!

We ate here last night and this was the best meal we had on our entire trip. By Far!! Earlier in the week we went to a cooking class at the Nizuc pool that was led by Javier, the head chef at Corporales. They made Chile Rellenos that were amazing. We knew we needed to try the restaurant after that. Last night when we were seated by the kitchen, Javier spotted our son and came to visit us at the table. He brought us a special appetizer of stuffed peppers with cream cheese and shrimp....Amazing! We all ordered the Chile Rellenos for dinner. They were excellent and huge! Javier came back to take a picture with our son and that made his day. Our son wants to be a chef and when he got to wear Javier's hat, his smile stretched from ear to ear! Thank you Javier and the rest of the team at the restaurant.

Staff was awesome as well as the atmosphere. The meat was over cooked. I asked medium rare and I got well. Thank goodness for all inclusive.

A great buffet at Sunrise of Moon Place Resorts…read more My family and I dined here during our stay on several occasions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With it being a buffet, you're able to get an assortment of options during your meal. Along with the different dishes, I always enjoy the fresh juices at the drink bar as well as the pre-made or build your own yogurt parfaits. The dessert during uncharted and dinner are always a great addition to your meal. Also, what's nice is the different dishes from around the world that are on the menu.

They're open for breakfast lunch and dinner…read more Unlike other dining choices in the resort where breakfast is a buffet, but turns into a sit-down a la carte at night, this is buffet style throughout the day. Service here is consistently attentive. Even when it's busy, it's not hard to get your servers' attention. But during peak season, that might be a different story. We've only eaten meals here a couple of times during our stay at the resort; First night, and last day. We also came here several times just to grab some light bites and fruit in between meals. Food selection rotates, and die the most part, not spectacular. Just goood enough to get you full. But their dessert selection is worthy of a fancy pastry shop. You can order alcoholic or espresso based drinks from your server, or self serve juices. One thing to note, it seems they have a shortage of spoons. Eva use spoons are never placed on the tables with other utensils. And when we ask for know, often times were handed the wrong size: like a huge soup spoon for a small dessert cup, or a teaspoon for a bowl of soup. Bugambillia is conveniently located in the lobby area, right next to the main Lobby Bar. It's a great place to grab some quick bites and go about your day.
