My god, what a find!…read more A friend and I stumbled upon this store while on a two hour visit to Santa Fe on our way to Albuquerque. We loved it so much that we spent a significant amount of time in here sampling all of their balsamic vinegars. You'll feel like a kid in a candy store with all of the classy stainless steel dispensers available for you to sample at your leisure. It was so difficult to decide but I walked out of there a happy woman with a bottle of their 18 yr aged tradition balsamic vinegar (top seller) and a bottle of their, wait for it... Georgia Peach Balsamic Vinegar.. my god. As you would imagine, that vinegar is light colored, rich and sweet (just how I like my men). This place is a DEFINITE stop if you are a balsamic vinegar, olive oil and/or salt connoisseur. Prices are reasonable ($20/per bottle), considering the amount and the quality. I like to think of this place as a little slice of Europe in the middle of Santa Fe. Also, I came across this video tonight while trying to figure out if Oleaceae already had a presense on Yelp. It's informative and gives you an idea of the classy stainless steel dispensers I mention in my review: http://vimeo.com/19817153

We definitely preferred to European style with almond milk, but I think that we would like the more traditional ones if they were made with milk. We also really liked the brownies, though the Aztec brownie + ice cream gave me an intense caffeine overload--my fault! Our first time here we each got an ice cream, both with fudge and whipped cream. As I said, while the Aztec was delicious, it really was too much for me, but I still ate the whole thing! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my husband's mint chocolate chip--the peppermint flavor was real--it tasted like they soaked the milk with peppermint leaves to make it, and it was so refreshing! We liked the chocolate truffles and bon bons so much that we ended up buying them as gifts. Our favorite flavors were the sage/goat cheese, peanut butter bar, Aztec round, bourbon pecan, and lavender. Finally, the service was outstanding. The servers were so kind, patient, and helpful. Our first trip the server took the time to write each flavor on our box of chocolates so that we would know what was what. The second server listened as we decided which treats were for which friends, and he wrote their names on each box before wrapping them. So very kind!

Though the chocolates are quite costly, $4-5 per piece. I also had a mint chocolate ice cream. The mint flavor here is so unique, of fresh mint, which might not fit well with people who likes mint chocolate ice cream. I like it though. The ice cream is soft and smooth. Chocolate pieces are creamy Mango smoothie is refreshing. I recommend checking this unique place out when visiting Santa Fe.
