On a Sunday afternoon, you will have nearly zero options for dining in Marceline, so we were excited and happy to stay in town with Los Chimas! What a surprise to find really good Mexican food in rural Missouri. The restaurant is quite spacious and very clean-- and what a friendly attentive crew! We had the BEST service of any restaurant in recent memory and couldn't believe the variety of Mexican dishes on the big menu. The food was delivered quickly, hot and very tasty, with generous portions. We eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants back home in California, and Los Chimas made us feel like we were at home. read more

The service sucked. We were ignored 4 times before I finally had to wave my arms around like I was trying to get the teachers attention. It finally worked. I got my 3 spare napkins. The food was okay but I'd never had Lima beans & potatoes in my Mexican rice before. The chicken chimichanga was filling & not too spicy. The chips & salsa was fresh. The well-appointed family owned restaurant is located on the Main Street. It was exceptionally clean and colorful. The waitstaff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I asked if it was possible to get Huevos Rancheros, as I couldn't find it on the menu. The waitperson went to ask and they said of course. I'm telling you, it was absolutely delicious! The eggs were cooked to perfection with slightly spicy sauce -- I loved it! My friend had fish tacos and she ate every last one, commenting on the flavorful sauce. The restaurant was decorated very nicely. It appeared to be clean well kept. The service was prompt and polite. However the food was less than appealing. I found it bland for Mexican food. No real spice, no onions. The salsa was more like ketchup than salsa. I had the beef burrito. I guess I set my expectations too high. The refried beans were runny with no cheese or spices. The burrito was covered with a cheese(?) sauce. I presented the bill and noticed the cashier staring while I added the tip and signed. He made me feel uncomfortable. Overall I say don't waste your time if you want something more than bland uninspired food. read more

On my last night in Marceline, friends at I had dinner at Los Chimas (small, bright, and spotless). I'm from California and love Mexican food. This was outstanding. Maybe the most delicious Chile Rellenos I've every had. I also enjoyed the Cheese Enchilada and the tortilla was so fresh. Yummy Top Shelf Margarita as well. My friend's Shrimp Tacos looked so good! Very light and fresh. There must have been ten of us and everybody's food looked amazing. Well done! read more

Call me biased but I was not expecting good Mexican food in rural northern Missouri but I was pleasantly surprised after getting dinner here since it was across the street from our Airbnb (and not a lot of choices in a town as small as Marceline). The happy hour drink specials were great (can't beat a $2 margarita)! The chips tasted fresh and the salsa was good as well, though we had to add a little extra salt to both (and I wish it was a littler hotter but it was perfect for the wife and kid). I had the Enchiladas Suizas with chicken with a side of beans and rice and it really hit the spot. Wife had the southwest eggrolls which she said were the best she ever had. Service was also great, checking if we needed anything, bringing salsa and water refills but not overbearing. Quality food, great service, and more than decent price. read more

How am I the first to review? Having moved here from Chicago... the land of maybe the best taquerias ever I'm kinda bias to great Mexican food.... but.... Los Chimas is pretty amazing. From their Shrimp Tacos to their Taquitos, to their Carne Asada to their Carnitas, yes they have Carnitas! All amazing! They also serve traditional street corn and some pretty sweet guacamole! The margaritas come in many flavors and in three different sizes! Jumbo traditional on the rocks with salt for me please! Service is always good and they do a great to go/carry out business... including those awesome margaritas! (It doesn't hurt that the business is owned by a local family, support local!) Chile Colorado was good. Moldy salsa kind of killed the mood. Wife's trash can nachos didn't have any refried beans, no chorizo, no queso, and requested no peppers, which of course were piled on. Disappointing experience for $40+. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. My go to items are the mi burrito with chicken or the chicken suiza. Both are great. The service is very dependable and the atmosphere is bright, clean and not overly done. Family friendly. Good for a work lunch, date night or group meal. read more

The meals we had were very forgettable. The ground beef was very bland and the chicken was dry. The sauces and salsa's were very thin and runny. The queso would hardly stay on a chip. The margaritas tasted as though the tequila was almost nonexistent. The service was adequate. The ambience was extremely noisy. Next time here I'd go down the street and have a burger. read more

Los Chimas Mexican Restaurant in Marceline, MO is phenomenal! Yes sometimes there is a bit of a wait at the door to get in but it is way worth it. They're waiting staff is very friendly, understanding and apologetic if the wait is too long or if something was made incorrectly and are always willing to help out. The menu is full of amazing food selections from chimichangas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, and more they really make fantastic food.
