Polo Poblano Bowl - poblano peppers, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, mole and cheese.
    Stephanie P.

I love Los Compadres for the quality and quantity of food you get! I usually order takeout. My "go to" is always a chicken bowl. Sometimes I will customize my bowl or I'll order the Chicken Tinga/Pollo Poblano Bowl. Both are delicious and you get a nice sized portion. When you order, you get a decent amount of sauces too. I love the quesadillas and burritos! The burritos are 5 times the size of Chipotle. My friend also catered food from Los Compadres for a birthday. It was exceptional. So much great food! Definitely check this place out. You will not be disappointed!

Take out or eat in. Foods legit here. Get the nachos, all options are delicious. If you prefer to go lean, the chicken or carne asada tacos are a great choice. The natural juices combine well with the food.

I really wanted to like this place, especially given the generally positive reviews but sadly the food here just didn't cut it for me. Maybe it's because their tacos weren't nearly as good as the ones I normally go to in Little Ferry (Victoria's), but the flavors of the tacos we tried and the sauces were just so-so to me. Perhaps I will try something else next time but the carnitas and the beef options here were just average at best. I also really tried hard to enjoy their ginger/orange drink but that didn't sit well with me either and the flavors were way too overwhelming. The prices here however are pretty decent and the people who run this place are incredibly friendly. Perhaps I'll try something else next time that might be better than the tacos.

    3 blackened fish tacos, elote

Got the blackened fish tacos and today they were FIRE. I don't know why they were so on point today because usually they're just decent. But the fruits and veggies were fresh and plentiful; the fish chunks were big, flaky, and flavorful; and the chipotle aoli married them all beautifully together. I didn't even try the elote yet but I'm sure they'd be good anyways. I inhaled all my tacos in 8 minutes because (1) I hadn't eaten in a day and (2) they were delicious.

Los Compadres is one of my favorite stops in NJ. We stopped by and came inside to a small space to order and had an amazing lunch here. They have a large selection on their menu and outdoor seating as well as 1 or 2 tables inside. The food is phenomenal. Service is great. My friend ordered a custom bowl that was amazing, but also a mushroom, pepper and onion quesadilla that was alright. It looks like they use goat cheese which I loveee, but was too full to try it. I ordered the coconut shrimp platter which was equally amazing and extremely filling. I would strongly encourage you to check them out, especially if you're local. I will absolutely return. Ordered some horchata but it smelled delicious and wish I got food too

Was in the mood for some Horchata... and ordered some fries on the side... I felt like they used real potatoes and seasoned it with pretzel salt... it was really good and it smelled really good too. Definitely will come back to try other things

This is a great lunch spot. There's so much to choose from their menu. I'm excited to come back and try more of what they have. Chicken tinga 4/5 Cuban burrito 4/5 Horchata 5/5 I loved that tinga spice. Burrito satisfies and the horchata had the right balance of cinnamon and sugar. Street parking is easy to find. There's free parking after 6pm. They had a simple outdoor setup with decorations. Service was great too.

Ordered 3 tacos: Al Pastor, Carnitas, Steak...(one taco eaten before taking pic). Small place with limited indoor and outdoor dining. Friendly and attentive service and tacos were delicious and fresh!

First time trying out this place, I was so happy they had vegan options, the vegan ground beef was good the texture and the taste were really good and the grilled fish tacos came w decent piece of fish, the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, the service was courteous and helpful came at almost closing and they were very patient, it's small space inside but they have outdoor seating that's perfect for spring summer looking forward to coming back!

Cuban pork bowl is always a solid choice.

The Perfect Enchilada Fix! My husband and I recently treated ourselves to the enchiladas here, and…read morethey did not disappoint. We tried the Tres Colores--a delicious trio of cheese with green sauce, chicken mole, and ground beef with red sauce--and the Tapatías. Both were smothered in perfectly melted cheese. The portions are massive and come with traditional rice and beans. You can tell the kitchen team really puts heart into the presentation. This is our go-to spot for a reason! Huge thanks to the staff. Blessings!!!

4.5 Yep, you're…read moreeating in a gas station. When I was coming up with a list of things to do on a sunny Monday in late spring, eating at a gas station was not high on the list. But as I plotted and planned, the birria tacos kept coming to the fore. I suppose my lunch at a gas station was inevitable. And I'm glad it was. Admittedly, I was a bit off by the prices. Again: gas station. But I suppose the Mid-Atlantic isn't the South and things are going to cost what they cost. But $3.75 for a soda and $16 for tacos was a bit of a hard sell. And then I ate them. The chicken birria* taco order came in an oversized four-pack bursting with ingredients, flavor and a large side of consomme. Between the seasoned chicken, cheese, onions, cilantro, pan-fried fatty goodness, and crunch of the shell, I was deep in food-like.** These were not street tacos. These were hefty, large-hand sized, meaty, heavy talk pieces that were worth the price, regardless of location. You get your money's worth at MRT. I ate my bounty in the station. The owner (?) was nice, chill and about his business. He welcomed me in, answered questions and made sure that I was happy with my food before I took the first bite. Between the smell and presentation, how could I not be? This may be a gas station but you'll get your food with restaurant sensibilities. The soda was over-priced, though. *Is that really a thing? **Food love is hard to come by.
