This is ridiculous!!!! How hard is it to understand NO guacamole I am allergic to avocado!!! Come on now can you try to get the order correct!? Dry dry and a little dry for me. The flavor is good. Beans and rice decent. I wish they would add red sauce inside the red enchiladas on the chicken with maybe some cheese. It's definitely a little too dry for me. Besides that it's pretty good. read more

This was my second time visiting Los Compadres. No surprise, the dishes were excellent. The service was excellent. And the ambiance was excellent , clean, roomy, Spanish style booths. Very friendly and right on time servers. The music was pleasant Mexican and the volume was perfect ( nice background music) . But most important as always, the food tastes great. As I told the server, tell the Chef thank you. The salsa had flavor, the chips came out warm and the tortilla soup was filled with multiple flavors, and a slight touch of lemon. Chile Colorado perfect, heavy bodied sauce with deep color and flavor, the meat was melt in your mouth tender and tasty. Spanish rice fluffy and moist. Beans couldn't be better, a slight taste of lard which I love. I will make this my once a week reason to take the little lady out, my hey neighbor let's get a bite out. 2nd time and still not good will not be a 3rd time. Little to know service. What do you want and dropping a bill at table that's it The chimichanga was a burrito then fried in a pan I think. Where do I start? Service was slow during lunch. The salsa was flavorless. The Asada tasted only like salt. Food was far from Mexican authentic and extremely expensive. The rice was gray colored. The cheese wasn't even fully melted because the plate was not hot. I ended up spending $26 for a bad tasting chimichanga, that had a weird aftertaste. My coworker had to eat a protein bar in the truck after because he didn't wanna finish his "Mexican" food. I had to fight inner demons not to take back my two dollar tip. Very poor management! Did not have enough staff to accommodate the number of large groups having lunch there today! I ordered the luncheon special chile rellenos rice and beans. The plate finally came and I was looking for the chile relleno. Worst food ever! The chile relleno was not stuffed with cheese, was not in an omelet like, could not chew the rubbery, hard exterior, just smothered with enchilada sauce. The beans were runny and tasteless. The rice unseasoned. The presentation sloppy & horrible I've had better taco truck food! The guacamole & Pico de Gallo were both very inferior, very tasteless! I spoke to the Mge/owner who thought he was Casanova offered to give make me a chili relleno but it would cost me more because they make 2 kinds. Since everyone was almost through I declined. Los Compadres - Dinner for 4, 2 fajita's one Shrimp fajitas and Chili Rellano combo plate - Mexican Near Me - Oroville, California

This place recently moved to the new address on Myers St so we were hopeful of a total revamp.... Yeah ..NO. We ordered the combo plate which was under $13 each, but what came to the table was a tasteless appetizer sized meal. We were like ...WTh. Our meal arrived in short fashion, as if it was sitting in the back ready for someone else who ran for the door before us. The combo plate had a Soggy taco actually smaller than Taco Bells and a enchilada that was the same size as a Tina's frozen burrito from a gas station. All of it was Tasteless except the hint of black pepper. A smear of beans and rice didn't even fill the rest of the plate. We couldn't wait to get out of this place it was that awkward and bad. When the waiter came by he didn't ask how our meal was and literally threw the check at the table as he walked by not saying one word. This place is just getting a reboot and it's already going down in flames. We looked around at the other diners and they all had the same look we did .... Don't waste your time here. I went to this restaurant with my aunt and had some of the worst service that I have ever experienced at a restaurant in my life. The young heavyset man who was our server was lazy and completely neglected every diner in the restaurant (only 4 tables were occupied). After 2 hours and repeated friendly requests for service, we finally guessed at our total charges and left the restaurant. The food was passable and the facilities were clean. The Chile Rellenos were a Chile Relleno Casserole and not Chile Rellenos at all. Rice and beans were pretty good and the chips were good. Salsa was from a jar/can. Horrible service and horrible food! The older guy brought our chips and drinks without even saying one word to us. I even made a comment to him and he said he didn't talk much. We got our food, my wife ordered enchiladas with green sauce and they brought her enchiladas with red sauce. We told the waiter it was wrong and he took it back. When the new plate came out we could tell the cook just scraped off the red sauce and poured green sauce on top. Horrible don't ever go here. read more

We went there for early dinner on May 5th. The food was awful, it looked and tasted like a frozen meal. The Chile Relleno was wrapped in a thin egg omelette looking thing. This place was a Solid 4 Star Dive a handful of years ago with low prices and swift service. The prices have gone up significantly (like everywhere else) however the service has gotten worse each time I came back over the last couple of years. Nice old restaurant, but along with it being old, so was the old dirt on things. The swinging doors to and from the kitchen looked like it had decades of dirt. When I see this, it alarms me of how much other dirt there and germs there are. Like how is their walk in? chopping tables? The food was ok, and pricey. I guess you should ignore all the previous comments here because this restaurant has only been open since early this week. Before this, it was in a different location on 162 near Thermolito. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was full and the staff of ONE was overwhelmed. Eventually one more person was added to staff but, although very friendly, had not been trained at all and could not help very much. Since we had to wait over an hour to order and another hour for our food, we had plenty of time to observe the layer of dust left over from the construction on the chairs. Almost all the lightbulbs in the ceiling fixtures were also out. The place has just been renovated and the appearance is good otherwise. Although we came for dinner, we noticed the prices for lunch are very reasonable($8). Also reasonable prices for dinner and the food was served very hot and appealing. Both my lady and I enjoyed our food. This place is just two blocks from our house and we hope to enjoy it often and hope the staffing situation gets corrected and greatly increased in number. Also, we had to wait another half hour for our bill after asking for it twice. But if you want good, served hot Mexican food for a reasonable price and have all the time in the world, we recommend this restaurant. read more

I drove there anyway, though their online hours didn't match what was displayed at the restaurant. When I asked whether that had a number different than what I found in Maps, he pointed at a table with menus and told me to look, since he didn't know. We have eaten there four times during the last several months and the food was very tasty the first time around. The other times, I didn't like it, but will skip those experiences and focus on what happened today. First, I want to say how disappointed I am in the couple who run this place, because the male who waits on us is so friendly and nice, but he knowingly overcharged us. No space to give details here, unfortunately but he did so with full knowledge while pretending he was giving us a break on the tab! When our food came, his wife had taken our order and she got it wrong; she brought me chicken, not beef fajitas as I ordered. I am a very polite person, but she tested my patience by angrily informing me when I told her about the mistake that "You know, now I will have to throw this food away!" She was impatient as well, not making any sense but rambling on about something and then saying, "well, you know we have to make the steak all over again, and it's gonna take a while." To which I said, "no problem." I was mad, but I bit my tongue. I thought that she was busy, thus her impatience and tried to let it go. Unfortunately, as my husband began eating his nachos with chicken on top, he noticed that many of the chips were wet and sitting in a pool of liquid. The cheddar cheese that was on the nachos was a mixture of cheddar and a mystery ingredient but tasted terrible. The menu said it was cheddar and it was not. I finally persuaded my husband to tell her to take them back because they were inedible. He was so polite to her, and she became angry again and insulting. She began by saying that these were "real nachos" and "they were naturally going to be wet because of the meat being cooked fresh." She was getting more annoyed with every word she spoke and concluded by saying that "these are not like the nachos that you buy at 7-11!" I was angry at this point, feeling very insulted, even degraded by this woman's assumption that at ages 67 and 74 we had never eaten at a Mexican restaurant or had any idea what authentic Mexican food tastes like. My husband is a graduate of cooking school in New York and worked at the Hilton in Las Vegas as a Sous chef for several years. While I don't have his credentials, I love Mexican food and knew she was lying to us. My husband said that they took the shredded chicken out of the freezer and heated it, leaving all the liquid in the bottom of the plate, which is tacky. She basically told us that we were just stupid gringos who didn't know what good, authentic Mexican food tasted like. We sat there and took her insults, and she caught herself being rude, calmed herself and told him to reorder but not to get any type of supreme nachos because "they would all be the same way; wet." We won't be returning. I've never eaten nachos from 7-11 in my entire life, but I'd eat theirs before the garbage she served to my husband today. read more

My husband and I just went to Los Compadres (LC) for my birthday. I love Mexican food and had not much luck in the sit down restaurants in Oroville. I was ecstatic at our choice to go to LC. The owner and his son greeted us at the door with a welcoming smile. We were seated immediately and warm chips and amazing salsa was on our table in seconds. When looking at the menu we were pleasantly shocked at two things....the excellent pricing and selection. The food was fantastic. We come from the Bay Area and we find this restaurant is as good as any as we found in the Bay Area. This is definitely our go-to Mexican restaurant. read more
