Very small (used to be pleasantly plump) "super" veggie burrito

Used to absolutely adore this place, but they recently started to add whole beans instead of refried, (even when we ASKED for them because we knew about the menu change of "whole beans only". But WHY? Oh they said it was "healthier" does anyone actually care to suffer while beans? It reminded me of the burritos on the Grateful Dead lot in Oakland made by white hippie kids back in the 90's ) Anyways, We always ask for "no lettuce" but they either didn't listen, or care that we've been coming in there for years, ordering *exactly the same things, every time*, and we're watching the super/supreme veggie go down hill. I wasn't even sure if there was slices of avocado in there which used to be a HUGE reason for use to go there? They used to be like a slight combination of high end homemade, and excellent drop-in Mexican, but it's just not the same, and that's been only a few months since they started this whole beans nonsense, without substitution, I guess. It also tasted kind of soppy wet, and bland inside, rather than added avocado and sour cream, pico de gallo, etc. Mayne this was caused by the gross yellow lettuce that took over the flavor of the entire burrito. I will give the enchiladas another try, but I'm not going in for another veggie super again. It was seriously just horrid. Sorry it's so rough on the rating, but we used to count on them to be one of the best in town, they cared, and they always got it right. -We have digestive stuff going on, and have certain food aversion, so it's a deal breaker, we seriously loved them, and wanted to continue to support them but it's just yucky now in the burrito department. My dude got his with pastor and he says it was "just ok", and he also dislikes the whole beans. We WILL go back for the enchiladas, hoping for quality continuity. I also have to agree that the chips are dry and lack luster as other reviews. We will probs depend on Gordo, also nearby, more often now. Sorry. We'd for sure go back if things improved. Service is ALWAYS EXELLENT here, by the way

    tri tip taco

I have been here three time this week and gee wiz! It's amazing!!! Amazing tri tip tacos. delish carnitas burrito (although maybe too much rice but that's alright!) chips and guac are SUPERB! The limes are pretty dry but maybe the season. Service is great and it always comes out super fast! Cute decorations and i love the easter vibe! Can't wait to dive into my left overs with a big grin on my face!

I got a chicken enchilada plate with rice and beans (with extra cheese) and the lady in the front threw in an extra churro for me!

Best chicken enchilada plate in chico. I'm not a guy who writes reviews normally but I go here specifically for this.

    Regular Tacos (Carne Asada/Carnitas/Grilled Tri Tip w/Onion, Cilantro, Cheese, Salsa, $1.60/ea + $0.50 w/Sour Cream & Avocado). Tri tip=yum!

This place has always been the best in Chico IMHO. Chorizo breakfast burrito in the morning and cheese enchiladas in the afternoon.

Doesn't live up to its name. Economical it isn't. Some of the higher prices in town, but the food is good. Just expect to pay more..

So that means that you have to wait just a bit for your food to be made. The ambiance was friendly and family oriented. We had chilaquiles and tacos and the were delicious. We were on our way to Corning, CA and stopped for lunch. The chips and Salsa were delicious. This place doesn't disappoint and it's easy access off the 5 fwy. Darian welcomed us in, and told us to sit where ever we wanted. He brought us menus, as well as some complimentary homemade chips and salsa. He then took our drink & entree orders. I went with a Modelo Negro $4, and an order of the crispy fried Fish Tacos $16.99 My husband got their seasonal IPA $6 and a Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad 18.99 We also got an order of Guacamole $8.99 The chips, salsa & guacamole were all homemade and delicious. We finished the basket of chips, so Darian was nice enough to bring out another basket that were hot out of the fryer. Our entrees came out, and I couldn't beleive how beautiful my 3 large fish tacos were esp. on their colorful plate. The taco shells were soft homemade corn tortillas, & there was a hint of sweetness with the sauce. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Taco salad. It didn't look very large, but he ate the entire thing, and he was quite full. I too tasted the flour tortilla shell and we were both pretty happy that it was freshly made. Most restaurants either use old oil or make the shells days in advance so they end up being rancid and stale, but not this one. Jess, the owner, came out at one point to see how everything was. I told her the food was wonderful. I saw others commenting online about the prices being expensive, but I told her it's well worth paying a bit more for quality fresh food.
