I just finished lunch here. This is my fourth visit to this location. I would like to start by saying I did forget my ID so I was perfectly fine just drinking soda water, but the server who was on staff last week said he was lucky he remembered me. I am a bartender so I understand the apprehension with someone not serving me a drink. After all, I was the one who forgot my identification. But I tipped him well so since he remember me, I said oh okay, well could I have a margarita? The bartender said no because I had to have my identification present. Okay that's fine, but then the server frank continued to harass me about not having my ID. And said "you didn't ask me for a margarita" but then walked away. I said loudly "what the (expletive)!?" I was not addressed by any management. I cannot stress again how much I did not care about having a drink, I cared much more about how I was harassed for a simple mistake and treated like trash by a fellow bartender who I tipped handsomely. Then after insulting me, the entire staff walked away from the bar to a meeting and left without closing us out. We had to find someone to help us. We were treated atrociously. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but here we are. I came in for lunch with a friend and this will definitely be my last visit. Take your business elsewhere. read more

My family and I went to Los Cucos last night for dinner. We were seated very quickly and greeted by our server promptly. The chips and salsa as a starter were very good. The menu and kids menu are both very large. Our server was very good and the food was very tasty. With a lot of Mexican restaurants in our area this one is a winner and we will be back. read more

THIS is one of our go to tex mex places..its close...and the food is delicious!!!...the servers are pretty friendly and on mondays and tuesdays they have 1.99 margaritas all day...and they are goooooood. read more

Don't expect to be greeted when you walk in or leave. We got no hello, welcome, or other... The girls at the front are quite rude. Our waiter however, Salvador, was awesome! The place itself looks nice, it looks tidy. My sister and I went there for a late lunch/early dinner at 4pm and as expected, the place was empty. Like always they took our drink orders and gave us complimentary chips before the meal! They accidentally brought my sister sweet tea instead of unsweet iced tea, but that's okay. Since the place wasn't packed they came out with our order real fast. My sister ordered the chicken quesadilla and I ordered something from the healthier side of the menu, the Grilled Fish and Vegetable Plate. My sister said her dish tasted fine but I didn't really care for my dish.... they didn't specify the type of grilled fish it was on the menu but apparently when they grilled it they left the bottom of the fillet covered in black a layer of black which made the fish taste over cooked and burnt. It was too salty too. The vegetables were fine but the whole dish was covered in some watered down tomato sauce which was also very salty. The tortilla soup that was a side to the dish didn't taste all that great either. Overall the place was nice looking and service was average, but my dish was way too salty and I just didn't care for it at all. I don't recommend ordering from the healthy options at this place. A Mexican restaurant just isn't the right place to eat healthy at. read more

Went today with my family for the first time. The chips and salsa were good, and I was expecting the food to be even better. I know the owners are Mexican, so I figured they might know Mexican food. I can tell you they don't know Tex-Mex. My food was Luke warm and tasteless. The rice is some bright yellow concoction. My chicken taco had a bone in it. The fajitas shared by my girls could not be cut (or chewed) easy with the cheap flatware provided. We had to ask for a knife with serrations. The tortillas tasted like flour and were not soft or warm. Our server was good and I told him the food was not good, but his service was. There are so many other good Mexican restaurants in town. Don't waste your money. My favorite is Lopez in Stafford. I wish I'd gone there. read more

I've been eating at the katy mills location for 8 years, my sons first taste of green salsa was at the restaurant but it's been going, going,and is now gone to the bottom of the heap of bad Mexican restaurants and as a native Texan I know a little bit about goooood Mexican food... Service was very very slow, our waiter was non existent and we had to get others to get fresh tea and water. It was a bad start when the waiter did not write any of the order down for our party of 9!!!!!!! Needless to say it was wrong and items were left out and had to be reordered. I've been ordering the grilled platter with fish, chicken,beef, carnitas, and shrimp on it, it includes a cold plate and rice and beans... The beef was tuff and the carnitas was a ball of dried grissell, and none of our tables cold plated had sour cream or cheese on them and we had to request it, my wife had a fish dish and it was bland and tasteless.....we will not be back and that makes me sad! I hope they read these posts and someone fires the Managment and chefs and fixes this once great restaurant. read more

Horrible. Went for dinner and food was subpar. Service was worse. Gave it a second try for Sunday brunch. They make you pay in advance without even taking your drink order. What is that? Brunch buffet was cold and dirty and with very little food. Will not be going back again. read more

I was staying at a hotel across the street and decided to eat lunch at Los Cucos. Someone told me about these fried avocados and I just had to try one. We were seated quickly and quickly given chips and two different types of salsa: a red traditional salsa and a creamier green salsa. The green salsa was DELICIOUS and we ended up asking for a few refills of it. Our waiter came to our table promptly and got our drink order (2 waters). As an appetizer we started off with the queso flameado with beef. It was a HUGE portion of melted white cheese, delicious perfectly cut strips of steak, and sautéed peppers and mushrooms. It came with tortillas that tasted homemade. The queso flameado was delicious, but way too much for 2 people. Paired with my meal, all the greasy cheese gave me acid reflux later that day. It was too much for my stomach... But I digress. I ordered the beef fajita fried stuffed avocado and my friend ordered the carnitas a la cucos. I was a little let down by the fried stuffed avocado because 70% of it consisted of melted yellow American cheddar. I swear they put a whole block of cheese in that sucker! I basically doctored my own dish by splitting open the fried avocado and pulling out the avocado and beef fajita chunks, mixing it with the provided sour cream, cheese from the queso flameado, green salsa and making little quesadillas. Unless you REALLY really love yellow cheddar, I wouldn't recommend the fried avocado. I think the idea of it is better than the product itself. Avocados just aren't meant to be stuffed and deep fried lol I got a chance to try my friend's carnitas a la cucos and that was delicious. The pork was tender and it was swimming in this delicious brown sauce. I'm not big on Mexican rice and refried beans, so I can't speak on those as my friend got my share. Although I wasn't elated about my entrée, I would definitely return to Los Cucos because we received great service and I'm sure other items on the menu are good because they had great salsa, tortillas, and steak (from the queso flameado). read more

I have been coming here 10 + years. Today I called at 9:20 pm to make an order for pick up. A man answered the phone without identifying the business and when I said can I make an order for pick up he clearly stated "sorry this isn't los cucos" and promptly hung up, which I found odd given I hadn't stated the name of the restaraunt. I spent the next twenty min determining that was their number on all their online platforms and confirmed with their other location. I was only about 12 min away so decided to drive there. Walked in called the number and there their phone clearly rang. I asked a man (who turned out to be the manager) why I was refused my order. Instead of responding in any sort of customer service fashion he said they were probably saying this is los cucos which was 100% not the case as I told the person on the phone they might want to correct their number online so they don't keep getting calls for the restaraunt. He then barked several times what do you want what do you want scribbled my order said nothing and stormed off. The whole thing isn't a huge deal but a very bizarre response on his behalf. I tipped the kind hostess when I grabbed my food and told her sorry she has such a rude manager which he came up in the tail end of the comment and got passive aggressive to which I informed him his staff was great but I found him to be strangely rude and lack customer service. A little hospitality goes a long way. That was my third time there this week but not interested in returning after being run off by manager. read more

Don't make reservations for a table because when they get busy it's a free for all(they discard all reservations no matter when they were made and DO NOT give a courtesy call to the customer!!!!!!) First time at this place...didn't expect something this good next to an outlet mall. I was expecting food court quality. When the salsa and chips are perfection, you know the rest is gonna be amazing...and it was! Their fish tacos were fresh and the fish was seasoned to perfection. Usually, if someone wants to go to a Mexican restaurant, I'm usually not a big fan of it at all. But, we came here and the lines and service wasn't too bad. I ate really bad at this day... I had a fajitas beef chimichanga. I noticed that the price for almost all meals are under $8.99. Hmm... I thought that was very interesting. I've gone to places where its usually higher than that. So, would this place be called fast food? Well anyways, I had great service here. They kept refilling my ice tea and the waiter asked if we were okay and needed anything more. I used to come here ALL the time when I lived in Katy, but it's been about eight years. They still have my favorite... this meal for two that comes out on a big metal heating box with more meat than you can imagine. I love, love their salsa, the table-side guacamole, and the service is still just as wonderful as I imagine it. Los Cucos is great! It's always dependable and the wait staff are very friendly and attentive. My favorite things on the menu are the Fried Chicken Avocado and the Stuff Jalapenos. If you get the Fried Chicken Avocado Entree you get tortilla soup, rice, beans, a taco and the avocado. It's definitely worth the $9. read more

We love this restaurant and its even better with the recent remodeling, I can't wait until the patio is complete. The food is consistently good and the service is always friendly. The happy hour specials are pretty good too. They used to have mariachi bands on the weekends that were fun, although we haven't been on a weekend in awhile. Been here before but first time writing a review as i did not use Yelp when I came here in the past. I remember really liking their tortillas but this time around, it was just "meh". If I could give less than one star I would! We showed up to have dinner here at 6:40, stood at the bar for ten minutes until two seats came open. My fiancee and I sat for twenty minutes being ignored by the two bartenders until we finally flagged one down. There's only 12-15 seats at the bar between 2-3 bartenders. When one finally brought our drinks, we asked for chips and queso. It didn't come so we asked THREE times more while the patrons next to us got their whole orders! We finally cancelled or order and got our tab after an hour of being ignored. read more

This was our first visit- we really loved it. The service is outstanding and the food was perfectly cooked. We had the chimichanga and "make your own" enchilada. I can't figure out why this place is not rated 5 stars. I've been on several occasions and it's so delicious and staff are amazing. This morning the company I work for had a breakfast there for 150 people. I felt as though I was on vacation at a fancy hotel. I've never seen a buffet this big. It took up an entire 30x40 room. There were stations to have omelettes made and special enchiladas. The waiters and staff were very nice and eager to help at 6am in the morning. Honestly all of the associates that were treated to this breakfast were so delighted and I'd say overwhelmed at how fantastic it was. Los Cucos has set the bar so high now. We absolutely must go again and I'm not waiting for the company to treat, I'm going back for that delicious breakfast buffet. Thank you all for a wonderful time. read more

I have always loved getting the beef fajitas for two here because it comes with a really good serving size of everything but I've noticed lately the portion sizes on this has gotten a little small for the price. I still continued to order this because it still at least come with the 8oz queso. However when I ordered today only a week after I ordered it last I have no 8oz queso. I called to let them know they forgot to give me it and I was told it doesn't come with it. Which I of course replied "since when? I just ordered this a week ago" her response "it just started". This might not seem like much to someone else but they have almost cut this in half portion wise but I am still paying the same price. I will not being going back. I'll pay the little extra and go to Uncle Julio's. read more
