Tortillas seemed old as they were hard around the edges. Al Pastor tacos were okay but great prices.

We are pretty picky on our enchiladas rancheros, this one is a little different but tasty in its own right! Would def get it again. However this place seems to be one of those Mexican restaurants where you may want to branch out and try a few new things off their menu and we may do just that next visit. The chicken in my Flautas was so tender and soft inside a fresh crunchy corn shell with excellent flavor - yummy!! The refried beans were delicious!!! To me if you can't get your refried beans right, then usually that means we won't be back. But not the case here!! :-)

Came back to Monarca to have great outdoor seating and some great food and drinks. Unfortunately…read morethat didn't happen. After our menus were brought out it took awhile for a server to come out, when she did we ordered a pitcher of margaritas and queso dip. Our pitcher was brought out with salsa and tortilla chips. We placed our order, my husband ordered burritos and I ordered a fried fish taco. When our food was delivered (by another server) he asked if we needed anything, I told him we ordered queso that we never got and my husband ordered a habanero salsa with his burritos that wasn't there. Well it took another 10 minutes before it was delivered. Marie (the first server) dropped the ball and it went downhill from there. Hard to believe that about a year ago, service was spot on but now no customer service!

So we entered and we were walked over to a booth outside where we made our order. I cannot recall what my order was, but I believe it was a chicken fajita and it was absolutely delicious. What about two or three wraps that came attached to it. My friend got the chicken, shrimp and I believe steak bowl. She enjoyed hers as well. The best part about the meal was probably the drinks. Those were super strong and definitely made their way through us as we enjoyed our meal along with conversation. The best part about this restaurant is probably the fact that it was empty/lunchtime at the moment so we were served and taken care of extremely well. We left a generous tip and if I'm ever in the area for Mexican food, I'll certainly be back.

Several employees were comfortably hanging out in a booth, laughing and having what looked like the employee reunion of the year, while customers were left to figure things out on their own. After realizing we had become invisible, we made our way to the bar and waited about eight minutes for the bartender. We ordered a Pinot Grigio and a Bacardi and Diet Coke--a request we assumed wouldn't require a treasure map. The bartender then informed us, in so many words, that he wasn't sure what white rum was. He wandered off in search of this mysterious mythical spirit... and was never seen again. I'm assuming he's still out there somewhere, bravely searching the seven seas for Bacardi. After another four minutes of waiting, we decided to make our own great escape. We left thirsty, amused, and wondering if we had accidentally wandered into an improv comedy show instead of a restaurant. One star for the free entertainment. Zero stars for the service.

I still remember my very first taco…read more It was 1971, just after I moved to East Gary, Indiana. I had made a couple of friends at school, and one day they took me to a small Mexican fast food place called Arman's. I had never had a taco before. I didn't even know what one was. They ordered for me. That first bite changed everything. It was spicy, full of flavor, and unlike anything I had ever tasted. I couldn't stop eating them. Back then, tacos were under fifty cents, so I went as often as I could afford. That taste stayed with me. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I discovered A1A Burrito Works. I walked in, and to be honest, the decor didn't impress me. But I wasn't there for ambiance. I ordered two tacos to go and headed back to my car. That's where everything changed. I tried to eat while driving. That was a mistake. These tacos were massive, packed with meat, lettuce, and everything that comes with "The Works." I had to pull over just to properly enjoy them. And then it hit me. One bite took me straight back to 1971. After decades of eating tacos all over the place, these were the first ones that brought that feeling back. The same bold flavor. The same satisfaction. The same experience I never forgot. Since then, I don't go anywhere else for tacos. If you care about flashy interiors, this might not be your place. But if you care about real flavor, generous portions, and food that actually leaves an impression, this is it. For me, A1A Burrito Works isn't just another taco spot. It's a time machine.

I took half my burrito home and had it for lunch the next day and my wife made 3 meals from her burrito bowl. The guys working Sunday were very nice as well.
