We've been going to this place for years. Since it opened actually. It's kinda cool to see how it's changed over the years. One thing that hasn't changed is my order. I always get the Chili Con Puerco. It's prepared different every time I order it, but it's ALWAYS delicious. (I assume that how it's prepared just depends on who's cooking) It's one of the few places that i've found with chilies stuffed with pork. Usually it's ground beef, chicken, or just cheese. It's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Rochester,the staff have been to me and my family always helpful and friendly , I usually get the shrimp or fish tacos which are the bomb in my opinion or I get the Santa Fe burrito . We'd been to Los Gallos before about a year ago and found it very good. And our first impression upon walking in the door for this lunch visit was still good! The colorful décor delighted our eyes, and delicious aromas delighted our noses. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. I would have preferred a robot over the human that waited on us. At least a robot would have been programmed with a friendly personality. Our duller than dull waiter had no personality at all. We both ordered the chimichanga lunch special. What arrived looked like a plate of refried beans with some shredded lettuce and a tomato slice on the side. Where was the chimichanga? We were about to call the waiter back over when we spotted it, barely visible under the lettuce - a pale roll about the thickness of a thumb with a dollop of sour cream on top. We should have called the waiter over anyway to complain but we were too polite. I wish I could at least say the food was tasty. But it was not. The beans were watery and bland. The tomato slice was soggy. The chimichanga was gone in two tasteless bites. And then my husband took a trip to the restroom. The filth! You don't even want to know. My friend and I didn't plan to come here, but there was a 90 minute wait where we had planned. We called here, and they said they had a table. And don't let that fool you! This place was packed! On a Tuesday! The hostess was also our waitress, so she was busy. Even though they were busy, everything came out quickly. And she took our food order when she took our drink order because we were ready. I got a jumbo strawberry margarita, and it really was jumbo! And very good. Good amount of alcohol and a good taste. I got it on the rocks. I'm vegetarian, and they have a vegetarian section on the menu. I don't like beans, so I was a little limited. I got the potato burrito and spinach enchilada. It was ok. I was talking to my friend, so it's probably my fault, but the whole dish had some kind of sauce on it that I didn't like. I'd have gotten it plain if I'd have known, and I'm sure I'd have liked it better. I also got a cheese quesadilla on the side. I thought it was very small for $4, and didn't come with sour cream or anything. It was pretty good though. Hard to mess up a plain cheese quesadilla though. My margarita was my favorite part of the meal and it was well worth the $12. I really didn't love anything I ate, but I'd go back and try something else. I was here years ago for their rolled tacos and I thought the place was okay but not worth coming back. I came back again tonight for their drinks and desserts - give it a another shot and in another category of foods. I am still disappointed. Their margaritas are terrible - huge in size which is a plus don't get me wrong but soooo artificially flavored. My traditional lime margarita was a slime green in color and my boyfriends strawberry margarita was so sweet and red in flavor you could tell both were straight from a cheap flavored margarita plastic bottle. The fried ice cream we got I did not even consider fried ice cream. Too huge in portion the ice cream doesn't melt when you put your spoon in like it should and is covered with so much whipped cream you can't tell there's a fried layer even over the ice cream to pierce through. The service is slow - really slow and staff is not very attentive to the needs of their customers but very nice. I do not recommend coming here if you're in the area and wanting Mexican there are many better options - including chili's. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night! We were seated right away, around 5:15pm! They were not too busy. I ordered a raspberry margarita and my husband got the draft beer. The beer was a huge 32 Oz pitcher, the taste was okay! My raspberry margarita was delicious, and was worth the price. It was definitely not lacking alcohol. I got the carne asada, and was kind of disappointed. It is served as a large strip steak that you have to cut up, and wasn't much to write home about. The chips and salsa were okay, but the salsa was hot, and I prefer a fresh salsa to a hot one. My husband really enjoyed his meal, so we might be back! read more

So if it makes you feel better just add "American" after every time I use the word Mexican in my review...Happy now? Comes with a Chile Rellano, A Chalupa, enchiladas, A Beef taco, A Beef burrito, and rice n beans. And if I am particularly famished..I will order a extra chilie rellano...because it's my favorite. Everything taste amazing and fresh... like they actually took time to prepare it. I don't know why I eat Mexican food as sparatic as I do...Maybe because growing up my family was big on Chinese Takeout. I am actually a good cook and I cook food from all different cuisines..and I actually cook Mexican at home more than I eat it out! I kind of wish I had Mexican food more often but to me it's just one of things I crave a couple times a year. So when I do crave it I like to stick to what I've ordered before, because I know I will like it. I always order takeout so I never ate inside.. but the inside has a modest dining room with Booth's and tables. Wait staff always seems friendly as I watch them interact with customers, while I wait for my food. Note- some of the takeout items are a dollar extra than if you were to dine in. I really enjoyed the lunch steak fajitas. The strips of meat were thin, but abundant and not overdone. It was a little heavy on the green bell peppers. This wasn't a bad thing as far as flavor goes. The best part was making your own fajitas with the soft flour tortillas and fixings. The beans were tasty and the rice was a little better than another local Mexican place I had recently. The complimentary tortillas were appreciated, although maybe could have used a little salt. These weren't quite as tasty as another place I had recently. I enjoyed the strawberry frozen margarita, which was pretty strong, if you ask me. The waiter was very nice, food came out quickly, and we felt safe with a lot of distance between us and other patrons. It seemed clean enough inside too. My boyfriend is very picky, but enjoyed the beef taco and beef burrito. This experience made me want to come back more so increasing my previous review from Feb 2020 from 3 to 4 stars. read more

I've always wanted to try this place but I'm never around that area.. today I was , and I was hungry!! Haha... it wasn't busy and it was quiet. The server was friendly and attentive to us. The restaurant was also very clean . I got the steak fajitas, and it was good. Blows Monte Albans any day. The steak was tender and seasoned nicely, the guac was BOMB, and the rice was good too. With it being my first time visiting this place, Alex our server was very friendly, helpful and patient with me. I ordered a meal that honestly I didn't expect to get, looked disappointing to be honest, Alex explained that it was a combo meal, and offered to help me with choosing another dish. Again the patience he had with me, didn't disappoint. I chose my meal which I was eyeing from the beginning. My meal came, and it was delicious! As we were dining, and the place was filling up with other guests, Alex did not forget about us. He was very attentive to our needs. Food and drinks were exceptionally delicious! After being disappointed by stopping at another establishment that crossed off all the GF on their menu due to inability to provide gluten free food safely, I thought I was not going to find a Mexican place to eat....until WE CALLED LOS GALLOS! Victor was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, he went through what I could/could not have exactly (no go for red enchilada sauce and the poblanos) but explained majority of the menu can be made gluten free (exchanging a flour tortilla for corn) and that they take dietary restrictions very seriously. I felt confident ordering that I was in good hands. Complimentary chips and salsa were an added bonus, fresh and hot! I ordered the chicken fajita, with corn tortilla instead of flour. This meal was delicious, the food came out hot, fresh, and filled with flavor. We walk in and we're seated immediately. First impressions were that this place was a little run down but had the same exact seats and Decor as the other place. Not a huge beer selection. I ended up getting the only beer that had on draft. A huge 32 oz mug I could barely pick up. Wife had a raspberry margarita. She said it was the best part of the meal. They brought chips and salsa for the table but the chips desperately needed salt. The salsa was HOT! It was hard to keep it away from the little guy but it would have been to hot for him. I ordered the Chiloupa taxana and it was amazing!! Would definitely order it again. My wife's carna esada? Was just ok. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The thing that sticks out though, is the fact that the staff is awesome. They have each other's back in the front of the house, helping their colleague's customers, and seem very happy to do so. That makes me feel good as a patron. On to the food. As you can see from my photo, my dinner was enough for two people. I'll have the tamale and enchilada for lunch tomorrow, but I can't rave enough about the Chile Rellenos. The taco and chalupa were good too (the chalupa is more like a tostada than the chalupa you'd get at Taco Bell). I'll gladly go back again sometime and try something new. The drinks were super artificial and sugary and way too sweet. The fried ice cream wasn't nearly as good as other times I've had it at other restaurants. The food was bland. I originally went to Margaritas Mexican Cantina down the street but after waiting over 90 minutes after being told 40 minutes on a Saturday at 3:30 pm, we decided to go here on the recommendation of someone else waiting there. We were seated, served, ate, and left in less time than we waited at the previous restaurant. Authentic food, reasonable prices, and great margaritas! I definitely recommend the Margarita tower, it is a crowd pleaser! Definitely get the Enchiladas Suiza, it will not disappoint! What do you call "Gallows" on an old ship, in Spanish? "Los Gallos." I'd rather be in the Gallows than eat here. OK that's a total overreaction, and I'm kidding. I didn't like the Chile Relleno at all. The tacos were Americanized. The food in general here was just, no. Also, it's not Mexican food... it's American. Some vague Tex-Mex. Those saying it's the best Mexican ever... please visit Mexico, then get back to me! Best Tex-Mex maybe, except that it's not... it's really close to being some of the least best. However the service was okay, the free chips and salsa were good, and it's a family owned place, so the least I can do is give it a 3 and hope that it keeps making oblivious people happy, because what else is there but to be happy? I Ordered a chimichanga with "shredded beef" ended up with some chunks of steak, no flavor whatsoever, watery refried beans horrible, bland, flavorless Absolutely nothing redeeming about the meal whatsoever. I ordered take out from uber eats and was very disappointed. My fish tacos were departmentalized unseasoned and visually unappetizing. I asked for a side of sour cream and never received it. My biggest disappointment was the chili relleno. I've never had a chili relleno stuffed with American cheese. This is one of Mexicos most made dishes and the American cheese threw the entire dish off. Overall, I spent 25 dollars for nasty fish tacos and weird chili relleno. This is a good Mexican restaurant in Buffalo. It's not very big. We waited about 30 minutes. Enjoy complimentary chips and spicy salsa while you wait for your dinner. Margaritas are Awesome!
