Great little restaurant! My wife and I had an impromptu date night and had been talking about Mamita's since they opened. Unfortunately a little chilly to enjoy the park so we dined in. The dining area is clean has some nice decor but otherwise pretty basic... There's a nice variety on the menu, the food was nicely presented and very tasty. Definitely above average but a little short of the best ever. The service was outstanding! The hostess was very nice and Israel took great care of us. He made an already solid dinner out even better. Looking forward to returning and hopefully trying the patio before the snow flies. read more

Great experience with our first visit to Mamitas. The dining room was completely full when we arrived. The dining area was intimate with rustic decor and ambient lighting. They had fun lively music playing which added to the great vibe! We loved the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were so warm and the salsa smooth with a hint of heat. They were generous to provide us with a second helping of chips and salsa. Our entrees were brought out surprisingly quick with how busy it was. Loved the quesobirria tacos. The tacos were packed full of beef and the pickled red onions were a nice addition. Very friendly service, we will be back. read more

Visited with my sisters and our families for a dinner out. My fajita burrito was delicious. So good. My son loved his fajitas and they accommodated his celiac disease by providing corn tortillas. Now for the down side which I only feel is fair to warn others. Menu prices and prices on the check are not the same. It feels wrong. I took pics of both thankfully so you can see. Wait times were very long but we were there on a busy Saturday evening. My husband said his burrito had barely any chicken and was cold. We had the worst margaritas we've ever had. It tasted like salt and soap. I've had plenty of authentic margaritas and never have I had one this bad. My recommendation, for the menu price and experience- spend your well earned money elsewhere. Logistically, I made reservations Tuesday requesting a reservation for 11 with the need for 1 high chair. We arrive and they seat us at the only high table. My sister is trying to explain her 2 year old needs a high chair and can't sit in the chairs for the table. I ask the server what is going on as when i made reservations I asked for a high chair. He said it would be too short for the table. I asked for a different table and that's when he admitted he didn't have any high chairs available and had given them to other guests. Should have started there. I said my nephew can't sit at a high table in a regular chair so we will still take the other table which they accommodated. He's a rambunctious toddler and I was surprised they wanted to take the risk of him falling from a tall chair. read more

My partner and I were excited pulling up to Mama Mita's. The restaurant sits beautifully on a hill, and the property itself gave us a great first impression. Unfortunately, once we walked through the doors, that excitement quickly died down. The hostess wasn't very welcoming, but eventually seated us and took our order. Our actual server, Elena, barely came to our table and spent most of the time sitting in the corner talking with her manager. Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly ask for things that were missing, even something as simple as napkins. My partner ordered nachos that came out missing an ingredient. I ordered a skillet with shrimp and tilapia, but my tilapia was burnt, the sauce didn't taste good, and the presentation wasn't appealing at all. I really tried not to complain and attempted to eat it anyway, but after about three bites, I couldn't continue. We called for our server, but she never came, so the hostess came over instead. Elena eventually came to the table, but her attitude wasn't helpful or reassuring, and her remarks only made the situation more uncomfortable. Initially, I was willing to have my dish remade, but after the way the situation was handled, I decided to send everything back. What made the experience even more disappointing was that the manager sat in the corner and watched the situation unfold without ever coming over, intervening, or asking if everything was okay. As a manager, I would have expected some level of concern or effort to resolve the situation, especially after seeing that we were clearly having an issue. The lack of acknowledgment felt very unprofessional and reflected poor customer service. The property is beautiful and the restaurant has potential, but unfortunately, the food, service, and lack of management completely changed what started off as an exciting experience. read more

My partner and I have been to Mamitas many times over the last few months. We love their drinks, staff is super nice, service and atmosphere is great. Sadly tho, everytime we go, the food gets worse and worse. The first time we went it was so incredible I told everyone I know about them. But the quality of the food is not consistent and the dishes we get every-time are different each time. The last time we went the rice and beans were horrible! The beans were definitely canned. Not the delicious homemade ones we had the first time. I really want this place to succeed but if the food quality and menu items continue with the inconsistency and poor quality we won't continue going. read more

Mamitas has good food, likely better for take out than eating in. We had a reservation for 10 and 1 high chair. I was the first to arrive in our party and said we had a reservation for 10, plus one high chair. Oh so 11 people, right? They took us to a high top table and I questioned how this would work with a toddler and high chair. The staff just walked away and not sure it was given to the manager. The rest of our party arrived and they said they could move us but it would be really tight. I would rather be in a tight location than put a baby at risk or excluded. The menu lists extra 20% for parties over 6 people and checks can't be spit more than 2. Any extra basket of chips are charged 2.60, the menu lists this. I asked for a side of sour cream. It arrived in a 1oz stainless steel condiment cup and was $2.08. The menu prices don't align with what is charged. If there is a card up charge that should be listed. The dining room is very small which makes it very difficult to hear others around you. My daughter ordered off the kids menu and asked for chicken fingers, they are nuggets. The fajita burrito was delicious and very large portion. The staff is friendly and do their best to accommodate. The dining room is small and not designed for larger parties. The food is hit and miss with what is ordered. read more

The service was excellent, but the food was a major letdown. The rice was undercooked, and the burrito was flavorless. It didn't leave me wanting to return. My wife had the birria tacos, and they were equally disappointing. The food lacked the authentic Mexican flavor and was dry. As locals, we were disappointed with our first experience at this restaurant. For $94 after tip, I could have made the food better on my own blackstone grill. read more

First visit. Chips and salsa were yummy and quickly refilled. Guacamole was fantastic - chunky snd fresh as well as a large portion for the price. Had the chorizo tacos which were filled with meat. Husband had the enchiladas which a good portion size as well. Margaritas will good. Will return for sure. Nice vibe inside. read more

My husband and I visited Mamitas over this past Saturday night We were welcomed warmly and immediately seated. I enjoyed a nice house margarita (very good!) and my husband had a beer with our complimentary warm chips (very good!) and salsa. We ordered shrimp tacos and a steak quesadilla (with rice and refried beans on the side). Food was fresh and plentiful and the staff was attentive and genuine. The takeout business seemed busy which is always a great option. We will be back and we encourage all to support this Penfield establishment. Arrived at 2pm and wasn't sure they were open.There were no cars in the parking lot and everything seemed dark.I took a chance and phoned to find out they were open.Inside lighting is a little dim and unfortunately the furnace wasn't working at that time.They did have a gas fired fireplace turned on but it wasn't providing much detectable heat.Fortunately it was 36 degrees outside instead of one of our really cold days. I decided to stay so server brought a menu and water.I found the dark colored menu and the dim lighting a bit disarming but not as much as the pricing.I was shocked at how pricey most of the items are compared to other Mexican fare in the area. I selected the $21.00 Chimichanga which came with beans and a side salad.To my surprise the salad was actually some shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes placed on top of the rolled chili then covered with warm white crema !!.Not my idea of a side salad. The chimi was nothing more than a wet chicken burrito. The beans were the thin,warm bean paste type. The complimentary warm chips and red salsa were both acceptable. Today my husband and I went to Mamitas Mexican Restaurant in Penfield. We arrived at noon. At that time there were only 2 customers in the restaurant. We waited at the hostess stand for quite a while. No one seated us. I opened the kitchen door and asked if they were seating customers. An older man seated us and gave us dinner menus. I advised him that I had seen a menu online with lunch offerings. I advised him that that was the menu I wanted. He told me that I needed to order from the dinner menu. I told him that I wanted to order from the lunch choices that were posted online. He said he would look into that and disappeared into the kitchen. We waited for about 5 minutes. He never returned, so we left. What type of business posts lunch offerings on their website and does not allow you to order them? I found the prices on the dinner menu to be quite expensive. Monte Alban Mexican Restaurant is about 1.5 miles from Mamitas. Go there. You will get better prices and better service. read more
