My favorites are Pancho's special which consists of shrimp and chicken DAMN that shit is good and the street tacos are good too plus one of my other favorites is the Chicken Nachos they gets it done right!! We were driving through the area when we decided to have something to eat. While looking on Yelp, we came across this restaurant. We had stopped in at around 3:00 p.m., So it was very quiet. The place was clean for this time of day, though I'm not sure how it would be during a busy day and time. The staff was very attentive, and We were seated quickly with an offering of complimentary chips and salsa. Menus were given to us, though. I wish we had seen the specials menu before we ordered. I ordered a fajita from the regular menu, As we didn't realize there was a special menu on the table until we were giving our menus away. We ordered take out from here and everything was amazing. Quick service, staff inside was great and explained menu when we had questions. The side of rice was honestly the best rice I've had at a Mexican restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and so colorful! Great place to go out for drinks and food when craving Mexican food (because who doesn't crave Mexican food). Lots of parking (there's a lot), handicap accessible, and great for big groups too! Attempted to plan a surprise party for a dinner for a large group of about 15 people. I reached out asking if they have any party rooms or reservations. They told me they welcome and accommodate large groups but don't have party rooms or take reservations. Which ok fine no problem. Their solution though was to show up on a Saturday night in December leading up to the holidays. Don't say you accept and accommodate large groups if your only plan is to have them show up and wait who knows how long. Unfortunate, was very excited to go here. read more

there aren't that many good Tex Mex places around Rochester but this place was introduced to me by my colleagues and it was wonderful! The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. They also handle a large to go order very well. The stars are their Sopa de Pollo and their tacos, I would say. I did not order a burrito but it seems to be their thing here- soft shell with refried beans in a soupy like sauce that tex mex tends to like. I ordered the fish and shrimp tacos which were well done- good flavoring that isn't overly ambitious- a good clean simple pica de Gallo flavor done very well. Their Sopa de pollo is also a must try- a hearty rich clean tasting chicken soup with vegetables that feels both healthy and yet the flavors are well rounded. Would go back to this place again- I can't say about the ambiance because we ordered out but I would be curious to go in person! read more

I'm so indifferent about this place ! Even our friends whom we were with who love this place were disappointed this time around ...and they come here all the time ! We waited awhile for drinks which was okay at first. But then when we got them, our house margaritas were salt-less and didn't taste very alcoholic to us. We also ended up waiting awhile for food which was slightly annoying. But they kept the chips and salsa coming while we waited which we appreciated. We enjoyed lunch on Monte Alban's beautiful patio. Chips, Salsa, and Queso Blanco (not pictured) were delicious and plentiful. Salsa had a really great flavor. For entrees, we had Chicken Chilaquiles which were super tasty, a tostada, and black bean soup. The black bean soup was lackluster. It was a little bland and not at all similar to what you would get at other Mexican restaurants. We've eaten many other entrees in other visits that are equally good to the Chilaquiles, such as their Fiesta Salad, Enchiladas, Chicken Soup, and "Pancho's Special". For today's visit, service was fantastic. We never wanted for anything. In all, this is a good Mexican spot that you and your family will enjoy. We've eaten at their Webster location and wish that the nice patio here was also there. read more

Great place for big groups. Came here on a Friday evening and was able to snag a table after a bit of a wait. Plenty of chips and salsa for the table. Salsa was especially tasty (though it really reminds me of a marina sauce strangely). We tried a bunch of different items, from fajitas, to tacos, to enchiladas, and more. Everything was decent and portions were big. They also have really fun drinks that everyone enjoyed with many customizations (for example, margaritas with many flavors, etc.). Had lunch at Monte Alban, Titus Ave location. Ordered the combo of enchiladas. Asked for the filling to be cheese. They came with very little sauce on the top, they were very small and the cheese was American.. like you'd get in a grilled cheese sandwich. Small side of sour cream that I had to pay extra for. It was officially the wife's birthday so we decided to try one of our favorite authentic Mexican restaurants- Monte Alban. They dint take reservations so we showed up and were told - with the 50% seating restrictions- that it was a 25 minute wait for a table. But they take your cell number and we waited outside in our car. Once we got the text that the table was ready, we were seated at a booth. Everyone was distanced- staff all wore masks. You hold your cellphone up to the QR code at the hostess stand to get the menu. They immediately brought us water, chips (we love theirs) and salsa. Wife got a margarita and I got the "small" beer- a Dos Equis Amber with lime. I think the small is 12 oz. and the big is a massive 32 oz. mug! We ordered some guacamole- they used to make it tableside but. Ie it is premade but still fresh and delicious. We split a Vaquero fajitas dish- it is chicken, shrimp and steak that they bring on a sizzling platter to your table. They give you a plate with sides of rice and beans - and lettuce and cheese for the fajitas. They give you (4) tortillas to make your own fajita- I asked for 2 more which they gladly brought. I am not sure I saw the Vaquero on the menu but when I asked for it the waitress knew what I wanted and they made it! The food is fresh and plentiful and very authentic Mexican. Even in these pandemic times- they still have it down at Monte Alban. Plenty of your standard choices for meals on the menu too. Monte Alban- you've still got it! read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different. We've always wanted to go here but they were always packed when we tried to go, so we went on Mother's Day we had to wait an hour which we were OK with because we always wanted to try them out. Everyone was so nice and respectful. It was a little cold in the restaurant but we adjusted perfectly. we had a few drinks and we had some food we shared some laughs and we just had a great time here I would definitely recommend. 5 out of 5 stars! read more

Horrible overpriced. $11 for a kids meal. $20 for stale plate of rice n beans and 2 tacos. Meats old and nothing is fresh. Service is rude and slow. Going back through older reviews, I'm taking this down a notch. If you stick to the "safe options" like the soups or rice and beans it's fine, hence my previous 4-star, but I was bold enough to try a taco and that was a mistake. The carnitas were dry and not very flavorful, and the tortilla was rather stale. On its own the taco would be a 2-star, other things are fine, including the poblano pepper-based dishes, so I'll average it out. read more

Nearly every item on the entire menu tastes exactly the same. It doesn't help that every meal includes the same refried beans, and rice - I guess this makes it especially easy for the kitchen staff. The bar area may be small with only a few seats but their happy hour specials make up for that. I had a couple of their house made lime margaritas on the rocks with sugar on the rim. They always bring out the customary chips and salsa weather your sitting at the bar or a table. I'm a fan of their homemade fresh guacamole! I have ordered a few different things here, the monte alban fajaitas for 2- comes with steak, shrimp, chicken, chorizo and carnitas..grilled with onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. Served with lettuce, sour cream, rice and refried beans on the side. Serious about of food..we still had leftovers! My new favorite is the make your own combo, one ground beef enchilada , one ground beef taco and shredded chicken tostada. (rice and sour cream on the side) Their enchilada's are so amazing... packed with flavor and lot's of cheese! Great place for some really good affordable mexican food and drinks! read more

The customer service was amazing, the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable aboit the menu. She brought chips/salsa and the salsa tasted fresh and went really good with the added fresh cilantro. I ordered a virgen piña colada and it was very good and well presented. The waitress recomended one of the house specials " Panchos Special" (chicken and shrimp grilled with onions and topped with shredded chesse. Served with rice, refried beans, lettuce and guacamole for $17.00l) the chicken/shrimp were perfectly cooked and the spices/flavor was out of this world. I also ordered a tamal and it was very good.. I was at Monte Alban with a few friends who raves about this restaurant. The restaurant is really big and very decorated with painted booths and tables. Our waitress was super friendly and accommodated the different checks and checked on us throughout dinner. The best thing about the meal was the free chips and salsa! I think it's unlimited but they give you so much to start anyways. They're not stale chips and they have a nice corn taste. The salsa is flavorful and spicy, love it! I also got their margarita. I got the blue one, I have no idea what flavor it is but it was a lot in terms of quantity! I got pretty tipsy. The flavor was very alcoholic which I think is good considering I think it was $10 per glass. For entree I ordered the steak fajitas. The steak was overcooked but it was still soft so I didn't mind. I love wrapping it in the tortilla provided, it was soft and I also topped my wrap with some of the leftover salsa from the chips. Without some extra salsa I would say the steak was a little boring but with the salsa I loved the flavors. Overall, I would totally come back here for a quick bite! read more

The food was good, drinks are good (but ridiculously expensive). An $8.00 Margarita comes in a rocks glass FULL of ice with about 4 tablespoons of the drink (server said it's an 8 oz. drink). We had a party of 14. There were maybe 4 other people in the restaurant & the service was terrible. We waited for over 1/2 hour for a server, much longer for a drink, longer yet to order. They never checked on us (never even made eye contact) - even tho there were 5 servers a few feet away, standing around on their phones & talking to each other the whole time we were there. I ordered a drink I never got, we never got refills on water without tracking down a server & asking. We had to ask for silverware after we got our meals & had to share the 3 knives she brought us. It was a birthday party so we had brought a cake. They had no plates or forks so they gave us tiny bowls & tablespoons to eat the cake with. Also, you should be aware that the house salsa has a little spice to it. The chorizo queso is great but is a few levels hotter than that. Just fyi.
