We came here on a Friday night, party of 8 (4 adults and 4 young kids) at 8pm. We were quickly seated and the server was a tad slow to come back but once she did everything picked up perfectly after that. We were served with complimentary chips and salsa to start. Do yourself a favor and get the queso and guacamole too. SO GOOD. The entrees came out pretty fast after that. I got the quesabirria tacos. Oh my god, so good!! That was my first time ever getting that. My 4 year old son was way hungrier than we thought and ordered a child's taco platter, then wanted another taco, finished that and wanted another one. The server was SO quick with getting his food and replenishing drinks. We had such a good time and everyone loved their food. We have been going regularly for the past year and today when my husband asked for hot sauce (something that is usually on the table at Mexican restaurants) when we git the bill we were charged $2 for it!! We love Mexican restaurants and have been to many throughput NY and have never ever been charged for hot sauce!! And he didn't even say it when it was requested, probably because he knows it wierd AF! So when we caused out, my husband very politely said hey we love your food but to get charged for hotsauce is very unusual, all the waiter/owner responded with was fine you don't have to return.. He knows we are regulars and we are always nice to staff and tip well, so this is crazy to me that an owner would act like this!! We tried Corona's Mexican restaurant in the Chili Plaza. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The staff was very friendly and they all worked together to make sure we always had what we needed. They have $3 margaritas, shown in pictures. They are not big but for $3 it is a good bargain. My wife had the Primo Special burrito and I had a two choice combo with an enchilada and a chili relleno. The food was very good. The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of seating. This new restaurant opened about a month ago in Chili,NY. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated with authentic Mexican decor. The lights hanging over each table were in the shape of a sambreo. Too cute. The waiter Aiden was very attentive and provided us with excellent service. He was able to describe each dish and made accommodations with some of our food preferences. Our food came out quickly. All of our dishes were good. We would have liked a little more flavor or spice to each of the dishes. We had to add the salsa that came with our chips to enhance the flavor but overall we will go back and try out other items on the menu. read more

Service can get backed up when staffing is down. Never crowded in the half dozen times we've been there. Have had a waiter who's English was a challenge, but he was very thorough and it was charming. Always prefer Mexican restaurants with Mexican staff. read more

The food is yummy, meal delivery is fast, and a great senior discount on Mondays. When I first started going to Corona's, the wait staff was very attentive and kind. There were staffing changes, and the last 3 times I went, I felt like I was an annoyance to be managed. I used to feel happy leaving the restaurant, not any more. The food is spectacular, definitely some of the best in Rochester. My wife's Baja Fish tacos were as good as she's had anywhere, equal to the tacos at Baja Grill in Moab, Utah. I got enchiladas done three different ways, all exceptional. My son got chicken chimichangas, which were terrific. And his friend got the corona burrito- a cool combination of flavors on one plate, garnished with little quesadilla, triangles and wedges of flank steak. Everybody scarfed their food, leaving virtually nothing. Corona's has a number of unique menu items like their "Poppeye" green sauce options. They also have a more extensive vegan section than I've ever seen on a Mexican menu. Food is a little pricey, but so is Monte Albans. You get what you pay for, and this is definitely above average Mexican fair. We've eaten Mexican in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc, and Corona's dishes or on par. Service was decent, ambience was cool, funky, with splashy original oil paintings. We will definitely be going back. EDIT: My wife and daughter just went again and ordered the chicken enchiladas Verde and birria tacos, both fantastic. After I posted my first review, I scrolled down and saw some one star reviews from three months ago. Well, the restaurant only opened three months ago! How ridiculous to visit a resturant opening week--even opening month--and then condemn it before the place has even gotten on its feet. Get real. Good Mexican food is rare in Rochester. Even the higher star restaurants are not all that great, like Selina's and Monte Alban. Corona's is much better than we typically get around here. Let's start with the service, we were seated immediately and the place was pretty busy so that was a plus. But after that everything went downhill, we just sat there for quite some time before a hostess or a bus person brought us some chips and salsa! No water was brought out!!! Then our waitress arrived and asked us what we would like, well I ordered the large house lime margarita, but it took the waitress a while to understand that I wanted a traditional margarita with ice and a salt rim on the glass. Oh and to please bring us some water as we were quite thirsty after sitting with a bowl of tortilla chips and salsa only to quench our thirst. Well we ordered the table side guacamole with that but she wanted to take our complete order so we are ok with ordering. My companion ordered the chicken fajita taco salad and I ordered the carnitas street tacos, I asked for the refried beans to be replaced with black beans. Now here is where the trouble starts they bring us the table side guacamole, it's just a bowl of chunked up avocado with diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, there's no prep table side! We had to mash the avocados ourselves, so not worth the extra $4 for just the guacamole dip that's on the menu! My companions fajitas chicken had no flavor, it was strips of boiled chicken, there were no pieces that looked like they ever hit a grill, and I tasted it and it was just chicken with no flavor. My street tacos were actually quite good, but I had to send the original order back as they served it with flour tortillas but I always get street tacos on corn tortillas as these are more authentic in my opinion! I also was served refried beans instead of the black beans I wanted, well I should have kept the refried beans as the black beans looked like they were scooped out of a can with a couple onion slices in it! It was like cold bean soup, again no flavor! We also asked for a little hot sauce, which one of the bus boys brought us two small bottles, the lighter colored sauce was the hottest which I preferred. The third and final service issue was that I ordered a margarita, well it was a dessert margarita because we were almost completely finished with our meal before it was brought out and while it was good, we had to double check with the hostess because I ordered a large but we noticed people on other tables had bigger glasses, so we were only charged for a regular size! I know this place just opened a month ago but they are having issues with good wait staff already! Also we were seated in the last table towards the banõs so we feel we were forgotten and had to flag down staff to get our water, extra napkins, hot sauce, our waitress never came up until the end to check on us or the quality of our food! read more

Food was good, ordered a margarita flight that was tasty as well. However, our waiter ruined our experience. Couldn't hear a word he said, then ordered off the lunch menu with 50% off prices and was not told it didn't apply to the weekends until we received our bill. He even asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner fajitas! After the check came, he still didn't disclose that it was unavailable on the weekends (said Sunday was fine) and clearly did not understand their policies. Just had the pleasure of eating at Corona's at Chili Center. From the moment we walked in the restaurant and were greeted by the gracious host, we were seated at our table and immediately noticed the outstanding Mexican decor. Very tastefully decorated with an authentic theme. Enough about the decor lets get to the food. The menu is all about why you would go to a Mexican restaurant. I had the tamales that had just the perfect amount of each component that makes an excellent tamale. My wife had a combo plate with a cheese quesadilla and a enchilada. My wife and I just visited this restaurant today. Let's start with the good: The restaurant was clean and vibrant. The decor was interesting and made a relaxing atmosphere. The service was prompt and personal. We were seated minutes after our arrival. For a Saturday afternoon, we were on a roll. The server brought us some chips and drinks. The bad: we were approached by a second server who took our order. We had never been there before, so we did as asked and placed our order. This struck me as odd as the place was not at all busy and thought the gentleman that seated us was to be the server. Our food was ordered and quickly produced, and the meal was good. It became interesting when we finished eating. We were to pay separate checks for each server, which Incidently overlapped the price of the appetizer on both checks (we believe). The ugly: There was no itemized receipt for either. Moreover, it went uncorrected. We chalked up the loss to a non transparent check and an inexperienced staff. If you plan on trying this restaurant, my advice to you is to verify your server as quickly as possible and use your calculator, and insist on an itemized receipt. read more

Very disappointed with our visit and will not be back. Service was painfully slow even though it wasn't busy. Portions were small and food was mediocre. I could have excused all of that, but not the waitress' attitude. I had a10% off coupon that she told me I couldn't use because we didn't get 2 dinners. The coupon said nothing about that, and the sides, appetizers and drinks we ordered cost way more than 2 dinners would have. They have lost our business over this. Welcome to chili! Finally a new place to dine in chili plaza. This Mexican restaurant is a good option here. Plenty of parking. Clean and nicely decorated and the black light art work over the bar area is cool. No liquid license yet but the fancy drink options look good. Just a heads up if your use to getting free refills on your sodas you'll be disappointed there are NO refills. It would have been nice if given a glass of water with your meal as well. Your table starter is one small basket of chips and salsa with no refill either as other Mexican restaurants offer. I was very excited to find vegetarian options and vegan options as I'm a vegan! Our waiter Eddy was very nice and friendly with a great smile, our only complaint was that her never came back to see how everything was after the two bite rule but maybe he wasn't trained to do that. There was no evidence that the food was prepared in any exceptional matter whatsoever. it was also overpriced, about 3 to 4 dollars per plate more than other Mexican restaurants in the area. First visit here last night and I loved it. First of all i need to use a walker and they went out of their way to help me out , our server was a lovely lady and was very attentive to us and brought drinks to us fast, dinner didn't take long to get to us and I loved my Popeye Enchiladas. It was so fresh and it came with rice and salad, so so good. Prices are comparable with other Restuarants I've been to and I would definitely return. To top it off we were given a coupon for $10 off $50 o our next visit. Great margaritas too....i had two! read more

Food itself was good, once our cold food was remade and the 2 entrees were remade because they were wrong. we didn't anticipate being there for as long as we were so we needed more chips. apparently the manager yelled at our waitress for not ringing in the chips due to our food being wrong, so she was "forced" to charge us. the manager never came out until we got our check without even a discount on the bill. once she came out it took another 20 mins for her to figure out the bill. our waitress was great and very apologetic. the place does look great but bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with clogged toilets and overflowing garbage. also NO changing table in the ladies room or the men's. we will stay going to our usual Mexican spot. so GREAT in some ways and BAD in some ways. con's: I ordered takeout while physically at the restaurant- it wasn't busy yet and myself and three others waited 45 minutes. I understand they're new and just starting here but 45 minutes is almost the amount of time I could've sat and had dinner with my family for. takeout should be more timely than that. also, once the food did come out in a bag for myself and two other people waiting; we had to go over and ask if that was our food after 10 minutes bc the man at the podium wasn't looking to see who's it was and give it out. they definitely need to work on getting their takeout orders out faster. PROS! : the food was absolutely DELICIOUS and by far our favorite Mexican we've had in this area. as painful as it was to wait; it was worth the wait. we will DEFINITELY be ordering from here again and going to do a sit-down dinner; and big hopes that their service improves as they adjust :) read more
