Hadn't been here in a while. We were greeted as soon as we entered which was nice. Quickly got our chips and salsa and drinks. Our orders came pretty quickly. I got the Banderas enchiladas they were very tasty. We were never checked on after we got our food. My husband did not get everything his meal was to come with, he had to flag down the waitress and she questioned what he was missing she did finally bring 3 of the 4 extras that the menu said would accompany his main meal. They weren't very busy so I'm not sure what the issue was. Hopefully next time we go things will go more smoothly.

It has been so long since I've been to Los Jalapenos until recently. I was reminded of it & was so excited to go back. I went on a Saturday night. We were seated right away & had great service. They had HUGE waters which I really needed. The chips were not my favorite (I prefer a thinner chip) but the salsa was good. They kept us well stocked in chips & salsa. I tried the chile relleno & it was very good! I LOVED it & left stuffed. We didn't order drinks but the margaritas looked amazing!! I look forward to going back to try their margaritas. I would recommend checking out Los Jalapenos especially if you're looking for good local restaurants.

I finally found it! Great Mexican food, not to be confused with good Tex-Mex food. I mean really good Mexican food, the kind that cures a Sunday morning hangover. Which is exactly what it did for me. I was feeling the aftereffects of Saturday night and was coaxed into an early brunch. It's nice and dark inside, better to hide the puffy eyes, no makeup look i had going that day. I ordered the barbacoa platter and my friend had the guisado de Rez. I loved the tender barbacoa that came with house made corn tortillas! Yes, corn tortillas made in house. You can taste the difference plus they are thicker than the store bought processed ones. I also kept stealing bites of my friends guiso which was also very tender and flavorful. That and the cold Negro Modelo made me feel good as new. Great Mexican food, I can't say that enough.

I had the menudo and it was so good. Reminded me of when my mom used to make it. I saw my cousins cousin post it on facebook and it looked so good that I had to try it. The fresh homemade corn tortillas are yummy too. I also had the Horchata to drink and it was good. Will definitely come back and bring my friends and family to this cool great place. The service was great too!

Me la pasé muy bien comiendo comida deliciosa en su restaurante. Mi mesero fue amable. El ambiente era increíble y definitivamente 100 % recomendado. Lo más importante es que TODO estaba DELICIOSO :) :) :)

Wished they served fountain drinks rather than canned...Also a Fountain Zero Sugar soda is so much better than a Diet Soda. Wished they had good tasting flour torillas too the brand name makes a big difference...Corn tortillas are homemade which is good but our fav are the flour tortillas. Foods taste ok here, loved the pancakes they make so hopefully next time I'll try bacon & eggs. I hear the menudo is good too...But, no thank you I'll pass! The caldo taste ok just wished they had Caldo de Pollo cause I can't eat much red meats cause I have Cancer. Anyways, ok place to try out!

    Chicken "Tortilla" Soup

I rarely give a bad review... I usually come here to rave about some of the places that I've been... I guess we've always gone for breakfast/brunch and have always enjoyed it. But... on June 21, 2024 I popped in for dinner takeout since my Huney wasn't feeling well. Service & margarita was great, food: not so much. Combo Fajitas: Steak was good, but not outstanding. Chicken was bland. Both were cooked just right though. The veggies were not, and were mushy... the veggies are part of my favorite part of the meal, so I was bummed; I didn't eat very much of the veggies. Normal amount of sour cream, avocado, and cheese... served with lettuce instead of pico, their choice not mine. IMO lettuce turns it into tacos not fajitas. Tortilla Soup: My Huney had me try his soup because he thought it was just him being sick, thinking it wasn't tortilla soup. I can't remember ever having mushrooms in tortilla soup, maybe a few slices once, not chunks. I absolutely LOVE mushrooms, but found that an odd addition. Next the broth: Are you sure that's Tortilla Soup? That's what I ordered. It was the blandest soup ever. I've never seen tortilla soup that wasn't bright in color, bright orange to red, or even deep red. And, barely any tortillas, and no veggies (I do realize some do not put veggies in it, though) in it. I believe they were trying to cut a corner & watered the batch down. No bueno. I wound up straining the soup salvaging the bulk for a salad and giving the "broth" to the dogs... giving my Huney something else we had on hand. I will say that there was a decent amount of chicken in the soup... ***Picture is of the broth after I strained it.*** I'm not giving up just yet... but , I think we'll stick to breakfast. And, their pozole is, or used to be very good.

The flavor is spot on - the green & red sauce add a good amount of spice to offset the richness of the meat. We also had the street corn which is creamy & delicious. We had a 1/2 lb of Chicherones - they were high quality pork belly - crispy on the edges & fatty in the middle. I prefer the cracklins, but these were delicious. We had 1 other taco entree, but the name escapes me now. I was assured it was also delicious. I definitely recommend this place. Don't think you'll get away cheap from this place because you won't... but I must say it was worth every penny!! The staff is very friendly too. We will definitely go back.

Guess this place makes money off the volumes. what's surprising is that, they have taco tuesdays. only 99 cents, which is insane with inflation. i legit thought all tacos places got rid of 99 cent tacos. Good to know they still have it around. The workers are very nice and friendly. They also have live music, at least when i went.

On the plus side, It has plenty of parking and a large lobby in case there is a wait. As far as food goes, the chips and salsa are fresh but pretty standard, there is nothing really to make these stand out. They are alright. This most recent visit I got a Paola's Plate with 3 different enchiladas. It had been about 2 years since I had last been to Mena's, but I don't remember it being so heavy. Out of the dish, the sour cream enchilada was the best one, but the queso on the soft cheese taco was too heavy and the chile con carne on the cheese enchilada was almost inedible. Service here is typically pretty transactional. We really felt like we were an obstacle to our waiter getting to do something else.

Maybe that was for larger parties, not sure. Our server did his job adequately but did not take my car order after I ordered a water to start and never asked if I wanted anything else to drink even after my whole party ordered beers and cocktails. The food was hit and miss. The Al Pastor was tasty but on the greasy side, the Spanish rice was very tomato sauce forward but was cooked to a perfect tenderness. The salsas were good and the side salad that came with my tacos and the charro beans were delicious. Easily the 2 stars of my plate. I would go for the Nachos if you are gna do the Al Pastor and skip the tacos as the greasiness made the tortillas very soggy and fall apart. They also do not give limes on the side but they do give cilantro and onion as well as a spicy sauce to put on top if you want it. I would give this place another shot and try the enchiladas or chimichanga next time.

Our cocktails were all good - and the appetizers were very good. We had the crispy pork belly and the tostaditas with barbacoa. The crispy pork belly was especially delicious and I would order as my own dinner in the future. It comes with onions and sauces and corn tortillas and it's to die for - so crispy and flavorful. We ordered the Bistec enchiladas and they were good but not as good as the appetizers. They give you a variety of sauces when you're seated that you keep throughout the meal - from mild to spicy but I would say the "spicy" is on the mild side. Still good and flavorful but not unapproachable for most ppl. We had the Campechana dessert and it was a little strange. It was basically a vanilla Icecream cake with a crispy waffle cone like layering that was really hard to break until it sat a while. It was oddly addicting but also not that good? I can't explain it. We went to the cigar lounge area after dinner and had Mexican espresso martinis and watched football before heading home. There was little smoke smell but very minimal until it got later. Around 8:30 (on a Saturday night) ppl started smoking cigars and they opened the side windows and being 90degrees right now - it became less enjoyable so we decided to end the night. In the fall that room would probably be quite lovely with the windows open. They have comfortable seating and fire pits. Really more of a 4.5 out of 5.
