I was so hungry when we had gotten to the restaurant, taking pictures of anything completely skipped my mind. It had a cute patio (it was too cold at the time) and inside is somewhat intimate with how dimly lit it is. Service was pretty straightforward, we ordered and we were checked on consistently. I had ordered Manuel's enchiladas and they were so perfectly saucy. I like that there was a variety because I can never make up my mind on what I want. We finished off with the coconut flan and it was everything I wanted. The coconut flavor and flakes added a whole different level to flan for me. I've never had it this way before. Love this hidden gem! The staff is super kind, attentive, knowledgeable and prompt. From the outside, it looks like a tiny restaurant but upon entering it's actually much larger than I expected with very tasteful decor and a great vibe! Loved the music they played and interior. We were greeted upon arrival and seated quickly. We were free served chips salsa and drinks quickly and ordered the carne asada... AMAZING!!! The steak was tender and a big portion. The beans and rice were seasoned well and prices were very reasonable! Our bill was less than $25 with a margarita! Ehh...I should've gone to Gloria's. Drinks are good, but the food is a waste of time. No flavor. Very boring. Maybe that's why no one is here at 6pm, except for people drinking. Absolutely delicious! Honestly, this review is purely for the fajitas because I tried them once and have been stuck ordering them every time because they are so good. Both chicken and beef were cooked perfectly and the quantity was plentiful. Most of the time I get them to go but I did stop in one time and the service was excellent. They were extremely kind to my daughter and super fast as getting everything to the table. The place is never too busy from what I've seen so if you stop by you should be able to get a table immediately. read more

This shop is very cute. There's a table in the back with enough seating for a large party and that's where my climbing crew parked ourselves after a long and arduous gym session. We came for the happy hour and stayed for the cozy atmosphere, the kindness of the waitstaff and the delicious looking food. A friend got queso for the table to accompany our chips and salsa and it was sooo rich, creamy and cheesy. I had to keep myself in check in order to not devour the whole thing. The friend got a chimichanga and absolutely demolished it. He loved it! I split an enchilada plate with my other friend and the meat was very tasty, seasoned and not too salty. The rice was also very delicious. The others got different enchiladas which basically look like how you'd expect. One friend was not hungry and got churros as a snack and she loved them. We have already been, but had to come back just 4 days later! This place is so good! I almost want to gatekeep it... We had the fiesta platter, shrimp cocktail, brisket tacos, pozole, and churros. Plus margaritas. PLEASE if you like margaritas, try the guava margarita. It is so sweet and delicious! Everything was great, once again. I think we've found a new regular spot. Yum yum yum!! I went here because I read the reviews and it did not disappoint!! We got the queso and fajitas for two. We now make this a regular date night spot ... however, we have been getting it to go since we have a newborn! And I am happy to say that the to go holds up just as well. If you love TexMex, honestly who doesn't, you'll love coming home to Casa Mama. Friendly service, although our server was new and not quite familiar with the menu, he did get the answers without an attitude, despite our being late night guests. The food comes out piping hot, fresh, no stale taco shells here, and guiltily delicious. Lots of options for everyone and the margaritas will have everyone happy. Bright Mexican decor sets the mood for fun without being tacky. read more

This was a great find. This is a neighborhood kind of place in far north dallas in a strip mall that we have driven by a thousand times and never would have thought to stop in. However, we were searching for a Tex Mex place and this place had a bunch of 4 stars reviews so we took a chance on it. First impressions were surprising. It looks like a small place from the outside but it was quite large once we stepped through the door. It was authentic Tex Mex and truly family run business . We both got their enchiladas plates and one included a taco. The food is as good as it gets for Tex Mex. There were several family's dining with small children which is how we figured out that these people live in the neighborhood. Their prices were typical of these kind of places under $40for 2 with no alcohol. We would go back for the food in a heartbeat. read more

Love this little hole in the wall by our home we eat their regularly with neighbors. The salsa tastes like we were in Cabo. The fajitas are generously sized- loads of protein. Homemade guacamole done tableside with fresh ingredients. We highly recommend this place. read more

Was in town from New Braunfels and went here because of the high rating. This place does NOT disappoint. The refried beans are out of this world! I could have eaten just a bowl of them! The pollo poblano enchiladas were phenomenal. But as everyone else is saying, the service was out of this world. Sebas, our server was so attentive. Our drinks were never empty, our chips were full. Pleaseeee open a location in Central Texas!! In the meantime, we will be back every time we're up north! read more

The food was generic at best. The enchiladas and tamales had no taste at all. There were six in our party and we all left with the same opinion. Even the chips and salsa, which is often a good indicator of the food to come, were stale and tasteless. We won't be returning. On a positive note, however, the server did a good job. read more

Ok so we came here for the first time today. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas w/ Poblano sauce and the Carne Asadas w/ flour tortillas. Man let me tell you this place is good!! The enchiladas really blew me away. If you are Latino or Latina in any way these dishes will remind you of that taste of home and i give this place huge credit for that. The food we ordered had that homade taste that i feel most places fail to achieve, so kudos. The vibe is very pleasant too with nice Spanish music (not loud thank god) for those of you that want to have a nice sit-down dinner with great food this is the place. Price range for 2: roughly 30. We have been visiting their Plano location until COVID. Today we decided to try out the Dallas location which is half a mile closer to our place. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The service is excellent. The food is good but the food at the Plano location is better in comparison. My favorite is their Mama's Skillet, which is two eggs, on top of a hash of Potatoes, Bacon, topped with Pico de Gallo and Cheese. The one that was served was good but the Pico de Gallo was all Tomatoes, the Bacon was cut in strips as against bit size and the potatoes were not diced small and as as result some potatoes were undercooked. The Chilaquiles on the other hand was great. The beer was cold and the service was warm. Overall a very good experience. read more

It is really hard to find the "right" Mexican food in North Texas. The choices are endless - from chain to Tex-Mex to ice house to street tacos. But what about "Mex Mex," with a focus on fresh ingredients, slight use of cheese (unless you order queso) and interesting combinations? You'll find all of this at Casa Mama. My husband had the brisket enchiladas. Instead of putting brisket in the enchilada, it's in the sauce on top and the enchiladas are filled with potato. I had the taco salad and it was an actual salad - not a giant fried tortilla bowl. Delicious! The queso with chorizo was very thick cheese, almost like queso fundito, and delicious. Definitely rich enough for multiple people to enjoy. All of the portion sizes, including appetizers, are generous. If you are inclined to eat smaller meals, consider sharing or plan to be able to take leftovers home. With great prices, this makes Casa Mama not only a tasty place to visit but an economical one as well. read more

Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.
