Ordered on Door Dash chicken mole, shrimp coctail and a chili replenish. Here is what we got. Over boiled chicken with the mole sauce on the side, who serves that? I thought I was ordering extra mole but no. We got over cooked shrimp in tomato sauce, wait I have to make my own shrimp coctail? Condiments of diced jalapeno, onion, pickled radish (not sure what to do with that), shredded cabbage (again, what is this for?), Pico, and 2 bags of chips a small cup of salsa, a scoop of sour cream. We called and talked to management and they blamed their poor food on their kitchen manager and Door Dash. Sorry Door Dash did not prepare this order, they did an excellent job of delivering your kitchen managers trash food. Oh, and I did not get the ranch dressing for the side salad. read more

This location feels kind of dark and dingy. We were seated right away. The server was kind of abrupt. We asked for the drinks menu and he said they don't have one. Also, could not explain verbally what drinks they have, so we just got beers. The chips and salsa was good, queso was very basic, cheese without much flavor. We ordered cheese enchiladas with mole and Pollo Acapulco. The food was quite tasty, good value for money! However, the service was still lacking. We had to remind the server to bring the tortillas and the side of green sauce we had requested. We won't be back to this location, the one in Irving definitely has great service! read more

Came in for a late Sunday lunch and we ordered a cup of queso and one chicken Caldo and one beef caldo. Each soup cost $9 for a large bowl. To say that the dish was small for the price is an insult. Second there was barely any meat in my beef soup. Literally 5 short little pieces of what tasted like microwaved meat. Mealy and insipid. Hardly any vegetables either. The chicken was the worst in that it had a bad smell and tasted sour. We didn't add anything to the soup like lime to see what it needs. We left the soups paid our bill and left. I just moved to Carrollton and was in search of a fun hole-in-the wall Tex-Mex. Los Lupes is a contender for sure. I've been twice. Crispy Beef Tacos: excellent. Chicken Enchiladas with the Verde sauce: delicious. Frozen margaritas are certainly not bad either. My only criticism: A language barrier. I'm not a vegetarian, but I noticed the vegetarian section of the menu only has one truly vegetarian item despite the few entries. Also my Spanish isn't good enough to ask detailed questions about menu items with my food server both times. Enchiladas and tacos are delicious. As are the rice and beans! read more

Los Lupes is our favorilical restaurant, have been coming for many years. Best salsa in town! I like to buy extra to have at home. Their fajitas delivered are my go-to for entertainment, and the cozy atmosphere in the restaurant is a perfect way to relax and reconnect with each other. Quiet enough to have conversations and delicious enough to come again and again. My fave dinner is Pollo Acapulco with the grilled veggies and rice topped by butterflied chicken breast and scrumptious shrimp. I usually take home enough for a second meal, and with their reasonable prices, that's truly a bargain! read more

Interesting range of reviews for this restaurant. It was our first and only experience here, so that's my disclaimer, but our party of eight had a really tasty late lunch on a Saturday recently. Chips and salsa brought crispy. hot chips that didn't have off flavors and were seasoned well, along with two different salsas, a chilled red that was basic and good with a mild spice, and a warm green sauce that had a trailing heat, which was my favorite. Moving on to the entrees, I selected the combo plate with beef relleno, tamale. chicken enchilada, and a chicken flauta. The relleno was the star of the show, nicely battered and stuffed with seasoned ground beef, it had a mild heat that really satisfied. Enchilada had a good amount of very well seasoned shredded chicken, with the only slight being a fairly pedestrian sour cream sauce on top. Tamale was smallish to medium in size, with a modest pork filling and tender masa wrapper. Chili sauce topping was again a little basic, but good. Finally, the flauta was very crispy and had kind of a "flared" end that was even more crispy, Very good when dipped in either of the salsas. The star of the show, though, was my wife's molcajete platter, which brought a huge black stone molcajete that was very, very hot, and practically overflowing with delicious meats, including chicken, very tender fajita beef, plump shrimp, and crispy sausage. The meats were served on a bed of nopales (cactus), crispy queso, salsa, and for lack of a better term, some "au jus" in the bottom. This was a feast for the senses, with emphasis on smell and taste, as it was loaded with both. Rice, beans, and guacamole were served separately on a plate, and the whole dish was easily two meals and could be shared with nobody left hungry. It was a positively delicious dish all around. Bottom line, if you're looking for fancy or "gourmet" Tex-Mex, this isn't it. If you're looking for a place that has better quality food that the lower end chains, this is definitely it. Check it out, and definitely consider getting that molcajete dish! read more

OMG--FINALLY made it here! Looks like the kind of dive I live to find! We ate 3 bowls of possibly the best chips of our lives! The salsa was so fresh, then they amped it up with a tomatillo salsa served very warm--amazing! Didn't notice the $3 Wednesday margaritas til she had walked away but then tried those too and they were wonderful! Delicious but light on the alcohol, which was fine! Prices are the best we've seen since Covid--refusing to gouge. Chicken fajitas nachos were sizeable and good. Loved the beef enchilada w chile con carne. Only low point was cheese enchilada bc cheese wasn't flavorful enough. 2 entrees and 2 margaritas under $30-whaaat?! Visit this hole-in-the-wall treasure in Carrollton! read more

I am a long time local patron of this restaurant and I've have incorrect deliveries before, but tonight was the lowest. We order a shrimp cocktail and it was delivered with no shrimp and salsa was provided rather than the "cocktail" sauce. Tacos were ordered with charro beans and refried were delivered and soft tortillas were ordered and crispy were delivered (soft & mushy! But the biggest disappointment was when I called the restaurant the man on the phone actually tried to say the delivery person took the shrimp! The bags were tied in the original manner (I've gotten orders from there previously). I could not believe he would be so arrogant. read more

3-2023 Our new favorite is the grilled vegetables (adding chicken). The menu warns to allow 15 minutes but it usually does not take that long. This is a sizzling skillet full of fresh vegetables bell pepper, onions, carrots, squash, zucchini and potatoes served with rice. It is So good, it's a regular order. The Americano section has a juicy hamburger (I added jack cheese & bacon, they were out of mushrooms) really big and very good served with golden crispy fries. On average the service is good, you may encounter a slower server here or there. Maybe she was new. They no longer have the doors to close off the bar so that section can get rowdy at times. But otherwise it's, quiet and pretty laid back. read more

It's been years since I have been to Los Lupes Mexican restaurant in Carrollton, TX at Josey and Trinity Mills.  My wife and I and our boys used to go there frequently.  Probably at least every other week.  So my expectations were greater than the current experience.   I had noticed while driving by that they had a big banner outside advertising an "All You Can Eat Buffet ".  For a traditional restaurant to start something like this is probably not a good sign.  However, after going inside, I didn't see any indication of any kind of Buffet.  NO advertising........NOTHING on the menu.........and NO Buffet setup anywhere.  I did glance at a sign on a stantion that advertised Cheese Enchiladas for $4.99.  That sounded like a good deal and I wasn't that hungry so I decided to try that.  When I asked about the "Special ", the waitress told me in kind of a brusque manner that that is only Monday through Thursday.   I had to wonder, if this was Sunday....and the sign is on a stantion that is easily moved.....why is it still out on the weekend?  Also.....where is the advertising for the All You Can Eat?  I ordered the cheese enchiladas anyway, because I had already decided that that was what I wanted.  They brought out chips and salsa.  Seemed like restaurant supply chips and jar salsa.  When the entree arrived, it looked OK, nothing special. No garnishment of any kind like slices of jalapeño or shredded cheese.  The rice was good.  Nothing special.  It was fluffy, but not especially flavorful.  Just plain rice.  The refried beans were good.  Nothing special.  The cheese enchiladas were ok.  Nothing special, and not especially cheesy.   I did order the homemade Tres Leches cake.  This was actually very good and with a little better presentation with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry. Looking around the restaurant,  the first thing that strikes you is that it is very dated.  Very dark and very dingy. Nothing has ever been updated, or apparently even deep cleaned.  The ceiling tiles are mismatched terribly and look shabby.  The windows are so dirty it could act like a sun screen.   The window sills look like they should be wiped down or dusted.  There wasn't any kind of background music.  The plate that my entree was served on had a large chip on the edge.  I also thought it was odd that when they served the cake, instead of a fork, they served it with an ice tea spoon.  All in all.....if you feel like having Mexican for lunch....and it happens to be Monday through Thursday.....the $4.99 cheese enchiladas might be a good deal.  Otherwise,  I don't think I would bother. read more

I've given this place multiple chances before leaving this review so here we go 1. I first ordered some food it was suppose to come with hash browns, when they brought my food out there was no hash browns and when I asked for them the server seemed to have an attitude about it. When they finally brought them to me it was small potatoes wedges and they weren't seasoned or anything just bland. 2. Second time I went I order some breakfast tacos (which was delicious) however I also ordered biscuits and gravy and did not get that all. They gave me a breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg, shredded cheese on a biscuit) and don't get me wrong it was good but it wasn't what I ordered. I'm assuming The server had a hard time understanding me but I do feel as if he could have asked for help. 3. I came yesterday and order 2 breakfast biscuit sandwiches. I waited in my car for a good 7-10 mins only for them to come out and tell me they didn't have any sausage. Didn't ask if I wanted my money back just told me they will put bacon on it without asking if that was ok. 4. Now today I went and I ordered the sandwich and they still didn't have sausage. There was no one else in the restaurant other than me and I still had to wait a good 15-20 min. On top of that the waiter was walking around biting his finger nails, sucking on his pinky finger bringing up ice and not once did he wash his hands. I looked back in the kitchen and from what I could see the cook just picked up my biscuit with his bare hands no gloves no nothing. Now in today's climate I'm not sure why either the cook nor server thought that was ok. Lastly my food today came out around 4.60-4.70 I gave him a five and he walked off and never acknowledged he owed me change. Now 40/30 cent is not a lot but it's the principal of the matter. I said nothing just threw my food out and won't spend my money there again!! read more

1st Visit: I ordered (2) $2 margaritas & brisket nachos. Whether the margaritas were 99cents or $2 you cant beat that plus they are decently strong (creeps up on you later). Unfortunately, if you want different flavors it cost extra which I'm not fond of but whatever maybe they will change that one day. 2nd Visit: A friend & I decided to stop by during HH on a Saturday night prior to our night out. I ordered the brisket nachos & they were just as good as last time & 1 regular margarita, which ironically was only 99 cents (last time they were $2 -- pick a price !). My friend ordered their everything platter which left little to be desired. Overall, my visits to Los Lupes have been good. I do wish the individuals who answered the phone could speak better English & have a better understanding when asked questions. I expect them to be bilingual but they should be able to fully communicate on both sides. I hope to try something different next time because I wanna see the variety of the cooks skills! read more

I stop by here 3 - 4 times a week for breakfast. It's excellent and the value, WOW. They are friendly, courteous and attentive. Eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, pancake coffee and the tip all for about 10.00, you can't beat it. Real food at reasonable prices. This restaurant is a blessing. read more

For years we've loved going here as our go-to 'dive' ;-). Our food, drinks & service (friendly & prompt) are pretty much always great & we like going to a place w/ a 'mom & pop' feel. I think the only complaint we've had is that it needs better dining room cleaning (Gordon would have a field day about the dust on the light fixtures), & while I wouldn't want them to fully modernize the dining room bcuz it would lose its 'mom & pop' authentic feel, some changes done to make the dining experience a little less dark & drab would be lovely. read more

As with most Los Lupes locations, with the exception of the one on Beltline. This location has great food at an affordable price. The Saturday and Sunday special consists of $1 margaritas and $1 draft beer. Yes, you heard me right.... $1!!!!!!!! Additionally, all of the appetizers are half off. I came in today to see my favorite Mexican restaurant nearly empty . The food is wonderful if you appreciate authentic flavor. I had Chorizo and eggs my wife had papas and huevos. The coffee is DELICIOUS fresh tortillas and the beans are so good!!!! Never from a can. We love this place and want to see it thrive....Juan is a great and approachable person.
