Best fajitas I've ever had, and I always get fajitas when I go to Mexican food and 9 times out of 10 I'm going to Mexican food. They were delicious. The steak was tender and juicy. There was plenty of peppers and they were cooked just right. Everything had so much flavor. The tortillas were perfect. I had to ask them where they get them because they were so good I thought they were house made. So good! I can't wait to go back! The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the portions were so small. I was very disappointed when they brought them out, but once I started eating I thought "who cares, this taste amazing!" I usually don't finish fajitas and that's one of my favorite parts about the dish is being able to go home with leftovers. Horrible customer service. I had a $25 gift certificate, for this store that the manager would not honor. The manager told me that they lost to much money on this promotion, I pointed out that I had paid for this gift certificate and he told me he still would not honor it and I had to pay the full bill. I can't figure out how this place can get even 1 star. The food was incredibly bland and tasteless. I took one bite of a taco and the shell tasted stale and "off". I took one bite of a chicken enchilada and it was without any flavor or spice. The sauce was watery. Rice was An odd orange color and I swear they ran water over it to make sure they removed any semblance of flavor or taste. Seriously, you have to work hard to make food this tasteless! This is so far from true Mexican food it was laughable. I left the entire plate as is. I refuse to eat food this bad, I'd rather starve. Service was lackluster and the restaurant was rundown. I would never eat here again, even if the food was free. So sad to see a place like this convincing people this is what Mexican food tastes like. read more

I don't love Mexican cuisine that much, but I know enough about salsa to know a few things. The salsa flavor was a bit off. Too much garlic or onion for me...it was almost not worth eating. It was the first time eating there with my husband. The food was really good. I liked the service we were seated right away. I liked that the restaurant had booths and that the benches were padded. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Vancouver. We go there often and make reservations for a big group on my birthday every year. It can be slow, and the waiters don't check on you very often, but the food is worth it. It is very vibrantly decorated with guess what...jalapenos...everywhere. I often bring my five year old, and they are very patient, and when my son spilled his drink they were totally cool about it. I love love love the pollo con crema, it is so rich and tasty and the corn tortillas are always hot. I have always been warned about plates being hot. The salsa and bean dip are delicious! I have had coupon issues in the past, buy one get one meals have turned into buy meal get drink free....ugh. They seem to have a lot of coupons out there, but aren't thrilled with honoring them. My boyfriend ordered a seafood dish once and didn't like it. But the tacos mexicanos are amazing. Wish both locations weren't across town from me, but I will continue to travel because it is delicious. read more

I'll admit, I'm find of a Mexican food snob. I'm originally from Southern California, so I've had REALLY GOOD Mexican food before. Los Jalepenos is unassuming from the outside. I probably wouldn't have paid it any attention if my boyfriend's mother didn't live right up the street. They invited us to eat with them here and I won't lie, I assumed it wouldn't be that good. The good news is, I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I went, I had the carne asada and that was pretty darn yummy! The second time, I had the beef and bean burrito and it wasn't half bad either. I wish the chips were homemade - they seem to be buy-in-bulk-from-a-bag type of chips. Although, this does keep me from filling up on chips before my meal arrives. All in all, it's pretty good and I'll continue to frequent it. read more

We came in at 8pm tonight (Saturday) and were immediately seated. The waiter then came by and set chips and salsa down without really even saying hello and walked away. We looked over the menu for less than a minute as we already had an idea of what we wanted. We set the menus at the top of the table and waited. And waited. I even made eye contact with a couple waiters/waitresses and no one came over. We sat there for 10-15 minutes without anyone coming over, they didn't even take our drink order. I've never left a restaurant before, but I did tonight. The customer service was terrible. Horrible place to go if you're starving and want a nice sit down dinner. read more

I've been in a couple of times with various people and sadly every time we have been disappointed. On one occasion the server spent more time trying to stare down my friends shirt, which wasn't low cut to begin with, and ended up getting our entire order wrong. The food is bland, beware the chicken taco salad as there tends to be bones playing hide and go seek in it. There are considerably better Mexican restaurants in the area. read more

Recently moved here and this is the closest Mexican place so we gave it a try--besides, we had a coupon! We were seated promptly and then ignored for quite some time. It was the end of the lunch rush but it wasn't that busy. Chips and salsa were dropped off without any water or pause for our beverage order, and then we were ignored again for several minutes. The server made us feel like we were putting her out when she finally took our order. The food was pretty flavorless. Seriously. I'm pretty sure the chicken in my enchiladas came from a can, and it was really wet--like one of the other reviews mentioned. How hard is it to cook, spice, and cut up chicken? The tamal that my husband got was so bland and dry he actually choked trying to swallow a bite. I don't like to complain, but this wasn't the experience we were hoping for. Bottom line--servers need to be on top of SERVICE (attitude, timely order taking, refills without being asked, check backs to see if everything is ok); and the food needs some preparation therapy and more flavor! I used to visit my sister quite often when she used to live in Vancouver, and we made our way to this mexican place a few times over the years. It's your regular tex-mex mexican restaurant cuisine but it certainly is on the better end of the spectrum than some places out there. Friendly staff and decent food. Even though I was only there for takeout, I could see that the dining room was a pleasant place to eat. We had a burrito and enchiladas for lunch. Take cash, don't use a card here! They charged me for my bill AND someone else's meal. And didn't even tell me what had happened. I had to find out on my bank activity, the next day that $48 of my money was being for 5-8 business days. This caused my account to go negative which will result in a $30 overdraft fee. So I have this whole head ache because I decided to give this restaurant a try. I drove across town to ask them to help me with this situation because I was counting on that $48 for groceries for my kids lunches for the week before I get paid on Friday. And no- I am not on any state assistance. I live paycheck to paycheck, pay extra to have my kids on my health insurance. I also have a lot of out of pocket medical expenses due to both my kids having Autism. So I wanted to treat my family to some yummy Mexican food. And in return I get to deal with this. The waitress could have told me yesterday and took steps to help me out then. But she deceived me. And today the staff on duty could not even reach management. The said you can come back, but I already wasted gas to go back there once. Can't go back again. But they did reach the waitress who made the mistake and she knew exactly what I was complaining about. She said just take $30 from her box. That still leaves me short $18. This was not my fault. She made a mistake and chose not to tell me at the time. read more

Wow - this place is the real deal! The food is always fresh, hot, and tasty! The margaritas are awesome, and the service is fast. There's really not anything negative I can say. I came here for my husbands birthday and the food was so bland tasteless and watery. I had water leaking from my food, and it tasted old. My enchilada was soggy and tasteless. Took forever to get service. I was charged at least $6 more than the menu price said and they didn't honor the coupon in the payback book. I didn't think the staff was friendly and the cups were dirty. My husband doesn't even like taco bell and said he wished we went there. We definitely wont be going back ever. read more
