The new ownership are still in the process of updating the name on all the online review sites. Best Mexican food in Vancouver and probably the Portland Metro area as well. Fair prices, fantastic food, and lots of salsa choices. Apparently new ownership as of 2 months ago (so prob Sept 2025). We had the taco plate and the steak and chorizo burrito Both were good sized. Absolutely disgusting overpriced and disappointing. I ordered $40.00 worth of food where anywhere else this would be $25.00 The guacamole was watered down but tasted ok The chips and salsa was delicious The beans and rice were bland and lack any flavor The consommé was disgusting lacked flavor and had a bad aftertaste. The quesabirria was absolutely disgusting and looked like day old prep then tossed into the microwave making a dry and soggy pile of slop the tortilla. The correct way to make quesabirria you deep fry corn tortillas with meat and cheese the way quesabirria is supposed to be made You used a thick Gordita Tortilla prepared it yesterday shoved it into a cooler then microwave them next business day. This is completely unacceptable and shameful I am a lost for words my family also owns a Mexican restaurant we take pride in our food quality and I'll leave you the owners with this honest question where is your Mexican pride our heritage is expressed in our food and so let me ask you what happened to you? I'm ashamed that this is how you represent our people. I expect better. This is a very good Mexican Restaurant. The atmosphere is no frills, but the food is delicious and staff is very helpful and courteous. I ordered the carnitas, pastor, asada and birria tacos, with a side of rice and chips and salsa. All the tacos were exceptional, the chips and salsa were good, and the rice was just okay. They provide 3 taco sauces: mild, medium and habanero. All 3 salsas were good. The habanero sauce by itself was very hot (to be expected), but when you add the habanero sauce to the tacos it's a perfect balance of flavor. I highly recommend trying it on your tacos, the heat is mitigated when you place the sauce on your taco, and the flavor is outstanding. If you order the birria tacos request the consome to accompany the tacos. read more

I stopped here for a quick bite because of the great yelp reviews however I was disappointed. Now I'm not sure if I went on a bad day? Or what but I ordered about 12 tacos. I specifically ordered tacos because of the handmade tortillas but they did not taste fresh so that was lame. When the food came out it was cold and maybe he waited to bring everything out all together but I would have preferred to have it hot. I got carnitas, chorizo, chicharon and lengua tacos. All DRY and not very flavorful. My rating is based on the cleanliness of the restaurant because the service was ok? I mean he took my order and charged me. Nothing crazy(not like I was expecting royal treatment) but after he brought the food he disappeared to the back and never saw him again. Absolutely phenomenal!! The salsa was so good and had a unique and delicious addition. Not just a regular salsa like at other restaurants. I ordered pork enchiladas and the kitchen accidentally prepared beef. They caught the mistake before I knew about it and our food was still on time. I ordered two tacos de lengua to go and sat at the bar while they prepared the order. Took about 15 minutes for the order. Four bucks per taco seemed a bit pricy, but inflation and all is the likely culprit. The lengua was cooked well. Slightly crispy edges, still juicy, and the salsa was delightfully spicy which I enjoyed. I'll definitely be back. I'm interested to try the menudo as that's my favorite dish in the world. read more

A solid five star review for Vancouver Taqueria. Thanks to fellow yelpers and your five star reviews, I knew we had to check this place out. At first, I had sticker shock when looking at the menu, but the offerings looked spectacular and quality ingredients nowadays cost a lot more! I had the birria and this stew rocked my world. Never had anything quite like it. It was like being on vacation in Mexico and trying something new. Except, we can go back anytime now. My hubby got the carne asada plate and he was equally as pleased. Their steaming hot tortillas are soft and bready, and oh so good. Portions were huge. We each took home leftovers. Staff is friendly and humble. They can not speak English well so there's lots of improvising and that's part of the authentic appeal. They have inside and outside seating. To go containers are styrofoam. That's the only drawback I can see. Not worth taking a star away for that but hope they eventually go for a more earth-friendly container. read more

Chicken taco combination plate, and chicken sope.... And for me- Two vegan sopes. So far so good. Been here twice and both times no disappointments. Food was delicious and most important to me and my lunch partner; was the fact that they were completely fine with not deep frying the sopes. that is a huge positive and fundamental thing for me.... So a big thank you to Vancouver Taqueria. One thing they could tweak to make things better would be offering whole beans or at least making the beans less thin and runny. Make sure you tell them no rice on your sope if you don't say that and forget to mention it..... For sure your sope will be served with rice on top. The salsas were all tasty and had a great kick. Service was fine. Funny aside this is supposed to be a Mexican restaurant. However if my info is correct the cook is Central American and the cashier is Guatemalan. Idk 100%. Authentic basic Mexican food. This is a welcome and recent addition to the Vancouver Mexican places. Nothing fancy and the hot sauce is to be careful of, it's really hot.The wife had a tamale, I had two steak tacos and we split a pork burrito. The flavors are spot on. There was enough food for both of us. The seating is on, a couple of loud TVs in the dining room that I could have lived without. We drive by this place all the time since we live near by and decided to finally stop in after running errands. The parking lot is very small, and has very tight spaces for parking. There was about 4 parking spots our front, but I believe you can park on the side too. The restaurant was clean and small, and they also had outside seating. We had a few questions about the menu but the guy working the front didn't really speak English, so we just ended up ordering tacos. There was no price shown on the menu for the tacos so we didn't realize they were $4 each. We got 4 chicken tacos and 4 asada tacos. We were actually surprised at how much meat was in the tacos because most taco places don't usually give you tons of meat. The tacos came with limes slices, cucumbers and radishes. Glad I tried this place out! Not a lot of good quesa birria places around but this is one of them! I got the chicken enchiladas, quesa birria tacos, side of beans and rice and the piña drink. The tacos were really good but the consommé was lacking a bit of flavor; more spices in it would be nice. The enchiladas were really good (chicken was good quality) and you get a hefty portion! I'm a bit disappointed about the beans and rice, they were pretty cold. The piña drink was good as well. I do recommend this place but I was slightly disappointed after seeing the 5 star ratings. The soft, succulent and chewy birria bound by generous amounts of cheese emanated a savory richness beckoning you to indulge in its sirens call of decadent rapture. The sweet birria consommé floated a sinfully perverse layer of silky fat ardently protecting its sympathetic depths teeming with umami life. Feels like it's part of my chorus line cycle to repeat that the days of cheap food are over. It's now crossed over all ethnic lines and nearly all geographic ones too. This little local joint is no exception. I ordered two chicken burritos and one birria burrito for just under $50. I don't expect that to affect my reviews moving forward since it's become so universal. This review is more about the food which, after all, most people expect. They conveniently offer online ordering which we gleefully used. Love the local hangout vibe of this place. It strongly reminded me of Megabite or one of the local pizza places whose name escapes me in St. Louis. Speaking Spanish is useful, but we were able to mime our way to our order. The burritos are generously sized. The bag felt like it contained weights vs food. If there is a spectrum, this Mexican venue is on the far side of unhealthy if you care about that sort of thing. The birria burrito soaked the tortilla and many napkins through with the red fat from the consomme that permeates the meat. The chicken ones weren't as bad. The problem seems to be that the fat abandons the meat in favor of saturating something more absorbent leaving nothing behind but hard bits of meat. My BF is from El Paso and wishes rice in burritos were optional on the west coast but I won't have to worry about that next time. They are also exceedingly salty and my fingers felt plump after partaking. I ate the birria one on one day and a chicken one on a different day in small doses and I still felt poorly after eating any morsel of these diet killers. BF and I agreed we'll have to look elsewhere for our burrito needs. read more

A friend told me about this place a month ago and raves about the enchiladas. I decided to give it a try and I couldn't agree more, the food here is absolutely delicious. Everything I've had has been super fresh and tasted amazing! The enchiladas, tacos, and burrito all made to order and served hot. They also do an excellent job with garnishing the food with fresh veggies to provide everything they order with a very appealing presentation. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are more than one could eat in a single sitting. I highly recommend you give this place your business, you will not be disappointed. My husband and I came here and ordered the BEST birria pizza we've ever had. We were blown away. We came from Cali where there's amazing Mexican restaurants all over and it's one of our favorites. But this beat them hands down. The burrito was fire and the consume to me was the best I've ever had. husband said it could use a little more lime but I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to come back. The guy behind the counter was so nice and patient with us. He explained everything and was the sweetest. Seriously the best birria pizza I've ever had. Although the quesadillas ($25) and tacos ($4 for 1) were a bit pricey, it was worth the price. Having moved from California, we have also struggled to find Mexican food we really enjoyed. Yelp pushed out a notification about this taqueria to us and I saw a lot of comments that started just as I have, with those who also came from California or Texas. It's because of these reviews that we gave it a chance (and the picture of the birria pizza). We were not disappointed by our dinner. We ordered take out. My husband and I each had an Asada burrito (and an Asada taco for me), asada tacos for my son, a carnitas quesadilla for my daughter, chips and guacamole to share. Everything was great and satisfying! My husband and I especially loved the taste of the tortillas for all the items. But my favorite was the tacos corn tortilla, which is likely made in house. The prices were a bit high. The tacos were $4 a piece which is a bit pricey, so even though I really enjoyed them, I'd probably not get them a whole bunch because I could spend the money on their thick burrito. That's a bummer because I am a sucker for good street tacos. Maybe if they ever had a Taco Tuesday I would go crazy. All the meats were tasty. The beans and rice could use a tiny bit more flavor but were still enjoyable. We will definitely be back to try more. While the birria pizza picture is a part of what reeled us in, we did not order it. But it is a great excuse to head back and try more. read more

Eating here was a very weird experience for sure. The staff was fast and beyond friendly- whatever girl was working this afternoon was SWEET. Watching her scroll through the worst POS system imaginable made me angry for her (though she seemed fine), seriously owners there a nightmare don't make your staff do that. Prices are VERY reasonable besides having to pay for chips and salsa. I honestly wouldn't have minded paying $5 for chips and salsa if the chips were stale and the salsa had any flavor as all. My beans and rice also were flavorless and came cold, as was the consommé. But the birria itself was the best we have had in Vancouver period. And my quesadilla was even better! Seriously the portions were HUGE and it tasted so good I was floored. How is the rest so very very VERY bad? You can tell the focused on the mains and they nailed it.
